Chapter 6 - Accident

Sienna couldn't stop the video of her family members being shot to death mercilessly from replaying in her mind. It kept going on like a broken record. A happy event had turned into a tragedy and her family could do nothing but embrace death helplessly.

Clenching her fists tight, she glared hard into space. How she wished to track the mastermind as quickly as possible and break his neck!

"Miss, where are we going next?" Anthony glanced at her from the rearview mirror and asked again, managing to bring her out of her thoughts.

"To the company," Sienna ordered.

Sienna needed a distraction. She needed to avert her thoughts and focus on something else before she lost her mind. She needed to drown herself in work to forget the looks on her family members' faces when they had been shot.

And the best way to do it was to face the workload in her company waiting for her.

Anthony glanced at her again in worry. Sienna looked exhausted. The red streaks in her eyes were prominent. She hadn't been sleeping well for the last three days. He knew it and so did his parents. She needed to rest and catch up on her sleep. Otherwise, she would crumble soon.

"Miss, do you want to return home and rest for some time?" he suggested, hoping she would agree.

"No. I have rested enough. It's time for me to return to work," Sienna rejected his suggestion immediately. Although he had good intentions, she was helpless. It was a waste of her time to return home.

'Sleep?' Sienna sneered. Her sleep had died with her family and maybe, she wouldn't rest well until she avenged them.

"Look into the security in charge of the event," Sienna ordered all of a sudden, stumping Anthony for a moment.

"Yes, Miss."

"Find everything about him for me as well as the seven murderers." Sienna's eyes flashed with a murderous intent as she looked out of the window.

"What about the police, Miss?"

"What about them?"

"Do you trust them?" Anthony asked carefully.

"I have no reason to," Sienna deadpanned, staring at Anthony through the rearview mirror.

'I trust no one,' she thought, but didn't say it out loud.

Suddenly, Anthony stiffened and looked at the side mirror on the left. Sienna too sensed the danger and felt her hair standing on the end.

"Miss, sit tight. We are being followed," Anthony alerted her and Sienna became vigilant at once.

Anthony stepped on the accelerator and the car zoomed on the road. Sienna was pushed back onto the seat due to the impact. But she held still and turned back, staring at the few cars following her.

The guards protecting her secretly were following her. She identified their cars immediately. But among them, three new cars of the same model and color had mingled, making it difficult for her to identify which car was which.

"Can you recognize which cars?" she questioned turning back to Anthony.

"Yes, Miss. The guards are handling them. Don't worry," Anthony assured her and Sienna nodded.

They were at an intersection and the signal had just turned yellow. Anthony pressed hard on the accelerator and they made it just in time before the signal turned red.

However, the others behind them weren't that lucky. They couldn't make it through in time, including the secret guards.

Sienna sighed in relief and leaned back in her seat. Even Anthony relaxed and his tense muscles loosened. The speed of the car reduced significantly until it returned to normal.

"I will look into this matter later, Miss."

Sienna hummed and closed her eyes. They were here for her. She knew it. Since she was the only one remaining in the Lawrence family, they were here to claim her life.

'But who is it?' Sienna wondered, trying to identify all the people who could potentially harm her. 'Is it them?' She thought of three people she had sent to the police station in the morning.

'Could they be the mastermind?' Sienna bit her lip and thought about it. 'If my family and I died, who would benefit the most?' Her mind was pointing to the three people and her grandfather's sister.

However, Sienna had an inkling that things weren't as simple as they looked. Her great-aunt's family didn't look like they had the brains to plot such a huge conspiracy.

'So who could it be?'

"Miss, our people have captured all those following us," Anthony informed, relaying the message he had received over the earpiece.

"Good. Interrogate them and find out who sent them. Also..."

Sienna couldn't finish her words. A car crashed into theirs out of nowhere and Anthony lost control immediately.

A violent jerk knocked Sienna's breath away and her world started to spin. The car spun a few times before tumbling over.

Sienna's head collided with the car roof as she hung upside down. Blood trickled down her forehead and flowed into her hair. Her eyes were losing focus slowly and everything was turning blurry.

"Anth...Anthony?" she rasped. But there was no response from him.

Sienna struggled to release her seat belt. But her fading consciousness and the awkward pose made it difficult for her to locate the buckle.

An intense pain hit her head and she shut her eyes tight. Taking in deep breaths, she tried hard to remain awake.

"Anthony," she called him again, only to meet silence.

Sienna blinked a few times. But it was futile. Her mind was spinning and it was becoming difficult for her to keep her eyes open. Her ears buzzed and she couldn't hear anything, not even her own breathing. Her heart was pumping madly and the wild beats were the only sounds she heard before closing her eyes.

Suddenly, she was pulled out of the car and a pair of strong arms lifted her. Sienna's eyes snapped open for a moment. Her headache was killing her. Yet, she saw the man clearly.

His chestnut brown eyes were staring at her in concern. Holding her close, he raised her until her head lay above his chest.

"You are safe, lady," he assured, his deep, concerned voice making Sienna relax.

For the first time in three days, Sienna lowered her guards before a stranger and her eyes fluttered close as she succumbed to sleep.
