Sienna's mind spun as she read the message again and again. She didn't know who had sent her the message. For a moment, she wasn't sure if she wanted to believe the authenticity behind the words. What if it was all a hoax to get her?
Numerous conspiracies took birth in her mind, and she was just short of believing one of them, the most possible being the one where it was a plan to lure her and kill her.
Sienna's gaze dropped to her phone again while her features turned cold. She remained in her position until Frank returned with the breakfast.
As soon as Sienna heard the ward door open, she composed her expression and returned to normal.
"Miss, the reporters are waiting outside the hospital. What do we do?" He questioned as he poured the porridge into a bowl.
Sienna's lips twitched when she saw the unappetizing porridge. It was the last food she wanted to have. However, Frank wouldn't listen to her objections, and she had to fill her stomach to get well soon.
Swallowing all her complaints, she ate the porridge. Her obvious distaste didn't go unnoticed by Frank, and he stifled a smile. He understood her state of mind and even more so when he too felt repulsed by the food she was having. It looked bland, and he felt his hunger dwindle just by glancing at it.
"Why are you hiding your laughter?" Sienna commented, not lifting her head from the bowl.
"Mi-Miss?" Frank tried hard to hold back his laughter and asked politely, feigning ignorance.
"I haven't forbidden you from laughing. Have I?"
"No, Miss."
Sienna raised her head and rolled her eyes when she saw the smile in his amused eyes.
"This is going to cost you when I get better."
"Yes, Miss."
Sienna took a breath and looked out of the window. "Inform the reporters that I'm fine."
"Yes, Miss."
"Tell them it was a small accident, nothing serious."
"Understood." Frank read her thoughts and discerned her plan even though not a word had been spoken about it.
"How is Anthony?" Sienna stared at Frank and the man's expression drooped when he thought of his son.
"He is unconscious but recovering well, Miss."
"Who do the doctors say?"
"He will wake up soon, Miss."
"That's good. Inform me once he wakes up. He is my savior."
"Miss, it's his duty as your guard."
"Frank..." Sienna stopped him before he stated his son's responsibility as her guard. "He is family too. If he didn't change direction at the last moment, I'd be the one lying unconscious."
Frank's eyes reddened. But he didn't refute her this time.
"You should take a break once I get discharged."
"Miss?" Frank was taken aback by her sudden suggestion. He looked at her in confusion as he waited for her to clarify.
"Agnes and Anthony need you."
Frank remained silent and Sienna didn't force him to say anything either. She could take matters into her own hands once she returned home.
At around ten, the doctor arrived to check her state.
"How is Miss, Doctor?"
More than Sienna, Frank was worried and asked the doctor once he pulled back after inspecting her wounds.
"Miss Lawrence is recovering well."
"May I leave the hospital today then, Doctor Moore?" Sienna was quick to ask.
Frank gave the doctor a helpless look. He couldn't persuade the young lady to stay for another day. He could only place all his hope on the doctor to convince her.
"Well..." The doctor hesitated and gave her a look of uncertainty.
"Any problem?"
The doctor shook his head immediately, stunned by the change in her temperament. 'What the hell was that?' he wondered and looked at the lady on the bed, who was only smiling at him innocently as if it was not her who had just threatened him, albeit subtly.
"Great," Sienna chirped and looked at Frank gloatingly, who sighed in defeat.
"But there are a few precautions you must take note of." Even though she had threatened him, the doctor didn't forget his duty and reminded her, advising her to take care of her wounds. He even suggested she return every two days to get her dressing changed.
Although Frank was listening to the doctor's instructions, Sienna too paid attention.
"Yes, Doctor. I'll make sure Miss follows your instructions." Frank butted in before Sienna spoke.
"Good. I'm going to leave now. You may call me if there is anything." The doctor smiled at the two before he took his leave.
"Haven't you become bold?" Sienna quirked her brow at Frank once the doctor was out of sight.
"I was always bold, Miss." Frank's reply was instant, and Sienna narrowed her eyes as she observed him.
"Very well. Prepare for my discharge."
"Yes, Miss." Frank bowed lightly before he too left the ward.
The moment Sienna was left alone, her smile vanished, and her expression turned dark again. Her fingers lingered on her phone as she thought about the message.
'I hope this is not a scheme,' she thought, her mind planning for what lay ahead.
Sienna leaned against the pillow and sighed deeply. Although she felt fine physically, she was exhausted mentally. Her previous relaxed state was nowhere to be seen, and she felt a mild headache creeping in on her.
Closing her eyes, she dropped her weight on the pillow. However, her moment of peace shattered when there was a knock at the ward door.
Sienna's eyes snapped open instantly and she stared at the door vigilantly.
"Miss, Officer Jenkins is here. Do you want to meet him?" One of the guards outside the ward entered and asked.
"Send him in." Sienna nodded and the guard opened the ward door wide, allowing the police officer to enter. However, he wasn't alone. There was another man behind him and Sienna studied him silently until their eyes met.
Sienna's heart skipped a beat when she gazed into those familiar chestnut-brown orbs. Her gaze was stuck on his eyes, which were filled with mystery. Yet, she felt a sense of reliability from them and her lips moved before she even realized what she was doing.
"You have captivating eyes."
