Chapter 3 - Invitation (2)

Here's an extra chapter to keep you guys interested with the book. I'll be posting again this Sunday, so stay tuned!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Tang Hu Lu: "That's right, you still haven't answered us yet, @Jiang Feng. Are you going to come along or just coop up in your room again?"

Just as he was about to turn his phone off and head back to the comfortable paradise waiting for him, Jiang Feng's phone vibrated as the screen lit up, notifying him about the new message received.

Sighing in resignation, Jiang Feng decided to tap on it and take a look at the content. By the time he read through the message, a question mark unknowingly rose within him as his fingers moved to type out his confusion.

Jiang Feng: "Where are you guys going this time?"

The World's Sun: "It's close to our house, right inside our ancestral cemetery. Last time when we went there to send prayers, I accidentally came by this cave near the mountain foot. I didn't have any equipment at that time, so I put off exploring first and invited you guys."

Jiang Feng: "…you do know we're not allowed to bring outsiders into the family ancestral ground, right, @The World's Sun…"

The World's Sun: "Well, I've asked the elders and I've already gotten permission. As long as @Tang Hu Lu and @Lao Mu stay away from the tablets of our ancestors and don't touch anything of importance, they'll be fine coming in with us."

Jiang Feng: "With how you're saying it, I'll take it as the elders know about the cave already."

The World's Sun: "They do, but for some reason, when I mentioned that cave, they all instantly tensed up. As if that place had some kind of ghost haunting inside. I'm sure we'll be fine though."

Tang Hu Lu: "We'll definitely be safe, right? I don't want the incident back at that mountain to take place again."

Lao Mu: "Neither do I, so @The World's Sun, you sure it's safe right?"

The World's Sun: " Do you guys really have no confidence in me…"

Tang Hu Lu: "Yes."

Lao Mu: "Yes."

The World's Sun: "…"

Jiang Feng: "I've just checked, I should be free for the weekends. When are you guys going to explore that cave?"

Tang Hu Lu: "This Saturday. We'll gather in front of the gate of your ancestral cemetery at 3 in the afternoon first, then @The World's Sun will guide us in."

Jiang Feng: "If so, I'll head in early on my own. I'll meet you guys at the start of the mountain foot. Till then."

Tang Hu Lu: "Nighty night~"

Lao Mu: "Bye"

The World's Sun: "Have a good sleep, @Jiang Feng"

After reading those messages, Jiang Feng turned on silent mode on his phone and put it away on the table placed near his bed. Shifting his legs back onto the bed, Jiang Feng switched off the lights and pulled the blanket, covering himself in its warm embrace.

'I hope that I can get some good sleep now…'

Struggling to fight against the sleepiness that was assaulting him, that was the last thing Jiang Feng thought before his eyes closed up, bringing his consciousness away to the heavenly paradise while his body was left in the cold.

7 AM.

Ring!! Ring!! Ring!!

As the alarm clock placed on the table next to the bed rang, Jiang Feng was forcibly brought back to the boring and mundane reality as he sat up with a grumpy look on his face, paired up with the eyes that were still shut tight.

Overcoming the feeling of wanting to return to his heaven, Jiang Feng unwillingly extended his hand towards the switch next to him, blinded by the cause of his actions.

"Hiss~, why is waking up so torturous…" Muttering to himself, Jiang Feng got off the bed and went to his cabinet placed at the corner of the room, to the right of the table he used for various activities.

Lightly pulling the door of the cabinet made of ancient-looking wood covered with a light layer of wax, Jiang Feng looked within it as he scratched the back of his head, trying to pick something suitable to wear for the day.

'This should do.'

Picking the one that he had the most set off, Jiang Feng left the room with his white short-sleeved T-shirt as well as his blue jeans that looked as new as the morning sun, walking down the hallway to the bathroom that accompanied him almost every night.

Turning on the shower, Jiang Feng pulled the glass door and let the vapor do the censoring for him as he submerged himself in the warm embrace of the water.

After a while, Jiang Feng came out of the shower with a towel wrapped around his hips, letting his upper body endure the cold air remaining from the lost night. Standing in front of the mirror, Jiang Feng started brushing his teeth with one hand while the other held a comb and tidied his half-dry hair.

Satisfied with the end product, he wasted no more time to get dressed and left the bathroom, walking back to his bedroom to take his phone out before walking down the stairs stationed nearby.

"Up early as always, aren't you?"

Just as his foot landed on the last step of the stairs, a melodious voice sounded in his ears as it shifted Jiang Feng's attention away from the screen of his phone to the person before him. Without the need to think, Jiang Feng put away his phone into his pocket as he greeted the person with a warm smile.

"Good morning, mom."

Standing before him, was Jiang Feng's mom. Seeing her own son, a light smile formed on her face as the corners of her smile took up the space of her cheeks, yet all of this only served to add to her charm as the mother possessed a similar trait to her son, a snow-white skin.

Being a woman, it was natural for her to have the urge to dress up pretty, which her effort was apparent in her hairstyle as well as the traditional dress she was wearing, commonly known as Qipao.

"Have you eaten breakfast?" Jiang Feng's mom asked.

"Not yet, I'm heading over to the dining room right now." Jiang Feng replied instantly as the two walked together in the hallway.

"What a coincidence. Your father should be over there waiting for breakfast as well, why don't we hasten our steps a little for a family breakfast?" Jiang Feng's mom suggested as her eyes formed a crescent moon on its own as her head tilted to look at her own son, her smile as bright as the light shining down from the ceilings.

"Fine by me." Replying with a shrug, Jiang Feng proceeded to turn in a corner as his mother giggled, noticing the small details of excitement present on Jiang Feng's actions.
