Chapter 2 - 2 New Life

__________<>____________

A car was speeding through a calm road. It was a BMW series 5, which meant the passengers were fairly wealthy. There was a couple sitting in the car.

A black haired young man probably in his late 20s and a beautiful young woman with silver hair were sitting quietly. The mood in the car seemed somewhat tense and depressing. The woman had her head lowered and her eyes seemed red and puffy as if she was just crying a while back.

The man looking at this scene and just sighed sadly, he turned on the indicator and parked the car at the side of the road. He held the woman's hand.

"Hey, look at me, look into my eyes" He said in a loving tone.

The woman slowly looked up at him and sees his bright purple eyes looking straight at her. Although, he can not be called the most handsome, he had an above average face, but what seemed to charm her was the fact that his eyes never seemed to loose hope and always had a confident aura. He was the same as she remembered him back from her university years. Always confident, humorous and loving.

But as she remembered those days, she was also reminded of the fact she just recently discovered about herself. Her eyes which had just turned dry, seemed to be getting wet again, tears welled up in her eyes. Just as she was about to go in a trance blaming herself, she felt a pair of lips touch hers, her tears continued flowing but she was enveloped in a warm embrace.

The man, her beloved had hugged her tightly as he whispered into her ears, "None of this is your fault, you don't have to blame yourself for this cruel joke the gods have cast upon us, you are perfect the way you are, and I love you no matter what."

The man caressed her back, consoling her as she just melted in his embrace. Yes, the woman was found infertile but that wasn't what the biggest problem here was.

The man's name was Liam Sullivan, he was the heir of the prestigious Sullivan family. They are a family of elites, as no matter whichever member it may be, they are the best in their field. His grandfather was a retired General in the Irish military, His father was a politician with great authority, His uncle was a famous fashion designer, his aunt was a successful A-list actress. Even his cousins were experts of their own fields.

Even he himself was not to be underestimated as he was called the Coin master of the business world. Without surprise, each of them had qualified life partners who were predetermined for them. And as the son of the current family head and the heir to the Sullivan, he too had a prior engagement.

But destiny took its turn of dice and he met this woman, Bridget Murphy. She was the top of the year and the number one beauty of the university. Though she comes from a humble family, she was always the top scorer of every semester due to her diligence, talent and hardworking.

Smitten by her, Liam started pursuing her. At that time he had not learnt that he had an engagement planned for him. After many years of tug of war, they finally ended up together, becoming the power couple of the final year.

After graduation, when he was informed about the engagement, he was devastated. But he fought tooth and nail with his family, promising them that he did not need any external help for his business, and true to his word he managed to establish himself as a influential figure of the business world. But recently he had been targeted by some very dangerous bigshots.

Turns out it was the family of his ex fiancee, taking revenge. The bad part was, they are the leader of Irish underworld. When he returned to his family to ask for help, they denied without hesitation.

After that, his business was targeted relentlessly as it suffered major loss. Now learning that the girl whom he had married was infertile, although his heart was wrenched but he knew he had to pull himself up.

Bridget didn't suffer any less as every attempt of her starting a business after graduation was crushed, when she joined a corporate job, there were always people harassing her, but she still stayed confident as she had a shoulder to rely on.

Finally even the worst happened and her only family, her grandmother was killed. She crumbled down.

But despite facing these troubles, they stayed together. When she knew about his problems, she started blaming herself. But she knew she couldn't leave him, as this was the moment they had to stay together and help each other against all odds.

She started fixing things in his company and for a moment, the business stabilized but death of a few core members again made it fall down. When she realized that she was infertile, it was the last straw. She blamed herself for every bad thing that happened in their lives.

_______________

In the night sky a pair of dark eyes was looking upon them. A burly man with dark hair and long beard was standing in the sky. His hand had curled up as if he was holding something. Although he seemed careless, the curled hand showed no movement and remained steady as if it was keeping something precious.

"Hmm, if there is anything like getting their lives screwed over by fate, then this is it"

his voice seemed ancient but powerful. Although he said these, not a hint of pity could be heard in his voice. That was how Gods truly were. For them the problems of mortals seemed insignificant.

"Oh well, not that it matters to me"

Just as he was about to leave, something squirmed in his hands. When he looked over he found the baby in his hand looking down.

His eyes seemed curious as he looked back at the couple.

"Ho? You sure?"

The man asked sounding intrigued.

The baby looked back at the man tilting his head, "Uuu"

"Hahaha, is that what you want. Fine then" The man laughed heartily guessing the baby's intention. The man vanished from where he was.

>>IN THE CAR<<

The couple have calmed down, as they were still in each other's embrace.

"Let's start anew at a new place. As for the other problem, Let's also adopt a child. " Liam said looking down at his wife with a simle.

Bridget smiled back at her husband,

"Sure let's do tha-"

"Oink"

Before she could complete her sentence she was interrupted by a noise. Both of them were surprised, before they heard another noise.

"Oink oink"

They look out of the window and spotted a pig making loud noises. They looked back at each other and laughed.

"Look even the pig is laughing at our stupidity to not coming to this decision sooner" Liam joked, as Bridget laughed some more before she saw something. She indicated Liam

"Hey look, what's that on its back"

Liam looked again to find something akin to a basket in which a small hand flailing on the back of the pig. He narrowed his eyes to focus on it before they heard a cry,

"Waaaah.....waaah"

Both of them gave each other a look before they stepped out of the car.

Bridget hurried over to find a baby wrapped in golden cloth crying in the Moses basket, the baby looked beautiful as the stars as their eyes fixated on him before the were pulled out of their trance by another cry.

They panicked, Liam looked around looking if someone was there with the baby, but saw none. He heard the baby's cries and tried making faces to stop him but it didn't work.

"Do something, the child can't seem to stop crying" Liam said.

Bridget couldn't think of anything and took the baby in her arms, gently swaying him as he fell quite and closed his eyes.

"Huh, that was easy" She sighed in relied.

"But whose baby is it, parents these days aren't responsible at all." Liam said as he looked around again.

"Check the cradle if we can find anything in it." Bridget said as Liam looked in the cradle where he found a note. Seeing the note Bridget leaned over too. Liam unfolded the note but it seemed endless as he kept unfolding till it reached the size of a zoo map.

They searched for a writing until they found something written in the corner.

[The child is now yours, Do as you please]

Under the writing, there were symbols that seemed like a club and cauldron.

"Ha? What does that mean? What do they mean by the 'child is yours'" Liam was angry. He couldn't believe that there were people who could abandon their child in the middle of nowhere.

"Let's look back in the basket maybe we could get some clues." Bridget suggested as they looked back to where the pig and the basket were only to find the place empty. They were surprised and looked around everywhere but couldn't find them.

"Poor child, to be left like that. Hubby?" Bridget looked at her husband with a hopeful look. Liam understood her intentions and sighed, to be exact he too was thinking the same thing.

"Alright let's adopt him." He said with a smile.

Bridget became happy as they happily got into the car and drives back. On the way she remembered something.

"Hubby?"

"Hmm? What is it" Liam asked.

"Can you give me the letter?" She asked.

Liam checked into his pocket only to find it missing. "Huh? Where is it? I remember keeping it here?"

Bridget looked at her husband and asked again, "Do you remember the symbols under the letter?"

"Hm? Yes I think it was, something like a club and a pot?" He said remembering the doodles.

"A cauldron, yes" Bridget guessed, but then her eyes widened at her own thoughts.

"What happened, why the reaction?" Liam asked bewildered looking at her face.

"It's just that when I was thinking of a name for our child. I thought if the letter had any, but then I remembered the symbol at the end of the writing and I thought of this old story my grandmother used to tell me" she explained

"What was it?" Liam asked as he kept his eyes on the road, driving slowly.

"Granny used to tell me stories of celtic gods and I vaguely remember the symbol of a club and cauldron associated with chief god Dagdha" She slowly explained looking at her husband.

Liam looked surprised at that as he added, "I think there was also something along the lines of Dagdha having pigs as Sacred animals"

There was no sound between them for a while before Bridget continues in a low voice,

"Hey do you remember this book my friend Tracy used to read back in university where greek gods came down to have demigod children?"

Both their eyes widened as they stared at each other, as he abruptly stopped the car.

"There is no way, right?" He chuckled nervously. Similarly she too was surprised at her own speculation.

"Yeah" She replied as she felt the child in her arms moving a little before he went back to sleep. She looked at him and smiled as she said, "But just in case, Let's name him Zane."

The man smiled back as he replied, "Zane. A good name. By the way we didn't get to decide where we are going?"

Although he didn't explicitly say it but she understood he was talking about leaving Ireland. She looked at him with a excited smile as she said, "Do you even need to ask? We are going to seek culture!!"

"As I thought, here we come-"

""JAPAN!!!!!""

They laughed as they drove forward to their new life.
