Chereads / Moonlit Betrayal: A Luna’s Choice / Chapter 6 - The Labour Pain

Chapter 6 - The Labour Pain

The earth was covered with brilliant white snow on the full moon night. Even after inches of snow, the snowfall didn't stop. It was going to be a hard battle if Seth decided to attack. Running and fighting in cold, heavy snow where nothing was clearly visible would be a hard task to perform.

Thessalia was with Deidra during her labour. Ultrasound showed that she was having sextuplets. Deidra was over the moon. She was confident that she could overpower Seth and today would be his downfall.

The plan was set. All the warriors were disguised as doctors and nurses all around the hospital. Felix and Thessalia were with her ready to protect her. Even Alder was hiding disguised as a janitor. Everyone was ready to protect the mother and about-to-be-born pups. Seth was going to die today.

The labour pain increased, and Deidra was ready to give birth. After a contraction, she gave birth to a boy. He was as fair as snow with black hair. The boy looked so handsome. One after the other she kept giving birth to boys as beautiful as the first boy. The last kid was taking up their sweet time. After another half an hour of labour, finally, she gave birth to a girl. But to everyone's dismay, she was nothing like her brothers. She had skin as tan as olive, but her hair was pure white. It was whiter than the snow outside. No one ever saw a child like that. She looked like a goddess.

Thessalia and other doctors cleaned up the baby and mother and placed the babies in their cribs. The boys were wailing their lungs out, but the girl was happy and content. She was cooing happily. Her sweet voice was overpowered by the cries of her brothers.

Even though Deidra was weak she could not sleep. Seth would attack at any time. Or was this the time he was not about to attack just like he did a few months ago? But why didn't he attack? Why would he attack and kill some kids and spare some kids? No one was able to solve that mystery.

"You did great, sweetheart," Felix kissed his wife, his Luna and praised her.

"Thank you! And congratulations father," she smiled at him.

"This is the happiest day of my life, five princes and one princess. I am so happy," said Felix.

"Mother! You should rest," scolded Thessalia.

"I want to, but I want to be ready for Seth too," said Deidra.

"We will take care of him. You should rest. Everyone is here to protect you. You don't have to worry," said Thessalia and came forward with a medicine.

"Will this make me drowsy?" asked Deidra.

"A little," replied Thessalia. Before Deidra could say no to the medicine, suddenly the girl pup started crying.

"Woah! What happened? She was so happy," said Thessalia and went close to the baby. "It seems someone is hungry."

"Give her to me. I will nurse her and then you can give me medicine."

"Fine!" said Thessalia and picked up the baby. Deidra held her baby and softly touched her head. Her hair was as soft as cotton balls. She could not help but stare at her baby. "Have you thought about their names?"

"I am thinking. My sweethearts must have nice names. They will be our heir one day," smiled Deidra and placed her nipple inside her kid's mouth. The girl could not catch on first but slowly she started sucking on it. All was quiet for a while.

Abruptly the loud cling and clang alerted everyone that something was afoot.

"They are here!" someone shouted.

"They are? What do they mean by they are?" shouted Deidra. Thessalia ran outside to see what was happening. She came inside the room and locked it immediately. "What? What?" asked Deidra, worried and scared.

"Seth is not alone. He has an army with him," hyperventilated Thessalia.

"Army? How many are there?" asked Deidra.

"All over the hospital, people are fighting with his people. We have to keep you safe," said Thessalia.

"No, we have to keep my kids safe, he must not touch my kids," said Deidra and jumped from the bed. It was impossible to hold so many kids in her hands, so she stood between the door and her kids with her girl pup in her arms. She stopped feeding her. She was getting ready for a battle.

"No, take your kids and run. They will be busy fighting with each other. Meanwhile, you can run and hide in the caves. No one will know about it. GO!" suggested Thessalia.

Suddenly there was a knock at the door. The urgent knock alerted them that the battle was coming to them.

"Open up! It's me!" Felix shouted. Thessalia ran and opened the door. She immediately locked it. Felix had a large scratch on his chest and his arms.

"What happened?" shouted Deidra and came running to her husband, her Alpha.

"Don't worry about me. There are a lot of them. It will be impossible to fight them. Take our kids and run. I will hold him back," said Felix and kissed her forehead.

"But…" Deidra started to protest but Felix stopped her midsentence, "No! You will listen to me. You will go. I will meet you near the falls. You can hide in the caves. We have our best warrior there. Go!"

"That's what I said to her," said Thessalia and started picking up the babies.

"I don't want to leave you guys," said Deidra.

"You have to protect our kids. They come first. Please go!" pleaded Felix.

"But how? The door is locked, there is no way," said Deidra.

"The window. You will have to jump. I will give the kids one by one, you then run, don't look back, just run," Felix had his hands over her shoulder and tried to give her courage.

Tears started falling down her face. "You will be alright, right? You will come back to me?" asked Deidra.
