Chapter 2 - The Darkness

"Darkness will become your life. All I see is black in your future," a voice kept echoing in Seth's mind while he stood over the she-wolf who had just given birth to sextuplets.

She had locked her door when she heard her husband crying out for her to hide. She heard every cry, every wail, every gurgle, every plea her husband made to Seth to leave them alone. But like an unstoppable hurricane, Seth kept coming at them.

She could not see her husband, only the blood flowing near the door that was now broken in half. Seth took down the door with one kick. She even heard how Seth was there to kill the new born pups, parents were just in the way. What did her kids do to him? Why he wanted to kill them?

Giving birth to her pups rendered her weak. She was unable to move. Her pups were wailing at their loudest after hearing the loud sound of their father. She wanted to go to them, but Seth had her pinned to the ground.

All she could do was plead to him. But her husband did plead, and Seth ignored it. Would her begging work on him? She had to try. "Please Seth, we are friends," said the she-wolf. "You are our Beta. You are supposed to protect us. Please let us go. Please let my kids live, I will run away from here, away from you. No one will know who killed my mate." Tears were falling down her face.

"In order to protect you, I have to protect myself first. I am just looking for my future," gritted Seth.

"Why? Why are you doing this? Why my kids? They are innocent, just born. They did nothing to you or anyone," begged the she-wolf.

"I told you, I am doing this to protect myself, protect my future," shouted Seth, and with one single move, he left four claw marks on her neck. The blood spurted like water from a broken geyser.

It was going in all directions, much of it flew all over Seth soiling him with hot red dripping liquid.

The she-wolf's eyes kept dripping tears as she knew what was coming next. Seth had his fangs out, and he was going close to the new born pups.

All were wailing after hearing the loud pleading of their parents and then the roar of Seth. He was looking for a baby girl and found two. Whom should he select? Who was he really looking for? He had two girl pups before him but didn't know which one he wanted.

He had to find the kid who would impact his future but could not find what he was looking for. He clenched his teeth and started clawing around.

The hot blood and chunks of skin started floating all around him as he kept moving his claws. After he was done, all that remained were six, tiny, mangled bodies.

Covered in blood and flesh, Seth roared loudly. He thought he was going to change his future, but he was wrong. In his rage, he killed a family. He knew he would have to run away.

The moment he stepped out of the house, the other wolves were ready for him. All heard the cries of the she-wolf and her babies. When they saw the bloody state of Seth, they knew he committed the most heinous of crimes, murder.

Being a Beta, it was his duty to keep everyone safe, but he himself committed murder. He was supposed to protect his pack and its members but he himself killed a family. The punishment would be severe.

Many pounced on him to subdue him, but he was reeling with anger and frustration. He wanted a girl child but couldn't get the one he was looking for. When other wolves attacked him, he was ready. He fought and fought but the wolves attacking him were more in numbers. Seth started to lose his stamina and after a huge fight, he was pinned down.

He was dragged before his alpha, Rodion Sablebite of the Everfang Pack. The witnesses told them what they heard and saw. Rodion went to the murder scene and his stomach jumped up to his throat after seeing the horrendous scene.

It was impossible for him to believe that his own Beta could commit such a crime. He was not a sadist, yet he never felt anything while killing the pups. They were just a few hours old. How cruel was Seth? How could anyone do such a thing? Was Seth a psychopath?

Rodion's wife, Luna Consuela Sablebite, tried to talk to him and ask for leniency as Seth was her brother. But so many witnesses of the crime made it difficult to show him mercy. Also, if he had just killed the parents, it would have been a different case, but he slaughtered the pups, a few hour-old pups. He had to be punished.

A council of important wolves from the pack was called. They all heard everything and saw the photographs of the crime scene, it was decided that Seth should receive the most severe of punishments.

"How dare you? You are the beta of the pack, and you killed your own subjects!! You are supposed to protect them not harm them. You soiled the name of a beta. Now how will anyone trust their beta after what you have done? And that too kids. Where did you find the courage to harm them, kill them? You are a monster, a monster!!

"I hereby strip you of all your powers, your title, your properties, your familial relations. You are no longer my Beta or my brother-in-law. It is my alpha order that you are no longer a part of the Everfang Pack. You are now a rouge, to be thrown out of our borders. You must never return back, or you will be put down like a rabid dog," decreed Rodion.

Seth clenched his chest as the breaking of the bond with the pack hurt him. He felt as if someone was crushing his heart with their bare hands.

"No, you cannot do that. You cannot do that. I gave my life to this pack. Whatever I did, I did for our future," snapped Seth clenching his chest.

"You think killing of kids is beneficial for our pack? Are you out of your mind? Guards! Throw him out of our land and make sure he never returns," snapped Rodion.

"You throw me out and I will come back. I will keep coming back till I find the one I am looking for. You will rue this day. You will all rue this day," yelled Seth, while the guards kept dragging him away, away from the council, away from the pack. They dumped him far away from the land of the Everfang pack and watched him crying his eyes out in anger.
