The cacophonous sound of police sirens echoed all over the city. Ambulances and cop cars were all speeding to one spot, and only one. The red and blue lights stood out even more in the dark of the night.
I was also in my car trying to reach there as fast as I could. Tears were swelling up in my eyes.
I wiped them to avoid any road accident. I increased the speed and hoped to reach there in time.
There was a huge traffic up ahead and I took another road. I had to get there as fast as possible. All of the medical help got stuck in the traffic and few smart police officers followed me.
I reached the alley a few minutes later. The alley of which she sent me a location and asked for help.
"Ally!!" I screamed and started finding her.
"Allison!" "Allison!" the other officers screamed.
I ran around the alley.
Right turn, left turn, I couldn't count how many turns I took.
Suddenly, I slipped.Â
"Ow.." I winced on the ground.Â
I looked at the floor. There was a lot of blood on the floor, I saw with the help of my torch.
Someone was dragged.
I followed the stains.
They led me to a bloody knife. It looked like it was dropped in a hurry.
My heart came into my throat and I was suddenly finding it hard to breath. All I was wishing for was my sister to be unharmed.
Even though I knew, that would not be the case….
There were no other stains near the bloody knife. No other trace, I could follow.
I looked around and found a door open. There was some blood on the door knob.
I called a few officers.
They took out their guns and approached the door. I followed right behind them, slowly. I wanted to rush in, I wanted to know what is waiting for me in there, but I walked in, slowly.
I never knew how long just a mere seconds could be but those seconds were the longest seconds of my life.
The first officer walked in, "We have a body. We need medical help!"
I froze.
Is it her?
No... Of course not. She probably ran away. At least I hope she did.
I built up the courage to go inside. The body was just lying there. Completely still, with no movement.
I walked closer and pointed my torchlight on the body.
It was a girl.
Her face was covered with a black mask and her limbs were tied up. There were wounds of struggle on her hands and legs where the ropes were tied.
She was stabbed many times in the stomach. Her clothes were as red as blood.Â
There something shining in her hands. It was.. a ring?
A ring…
"We went on a date yesterday." My sister, Allison said.
"Oh! So that's where you disappeared." I laughed.
She slowly raised her hand and I found the most elegant and beautiful ring on her ring finger.
"He proposed to me…" She said.
"Oh my god! He proposed to you!! That's a bold move but cute." I said, laughing.
She started blushing.
"Oooo~ Someone's blushing." I teased her.
"Haha.. He's a really good person." Ally said, fidgeting with the ring in her hand.
"I really want to meet this mysterious lover boy."
"I'll make sure you two meet soon." She said, with that huge smile she had.
Â
My legs felt numb and I lost control over them. I fell down and my torchlight broke.
The officers began to remove the bag off her head.Â
Another officer pointed the torch on her face to identify her.
Her face was completely disfigured and bloody. Her head was bleeding. She was hit on the head hard.Â
No stranger would be able to recognize her but I did.
It was my sister, my kind and beautiful older sister.
Her blonde hair were no longer blonde, just red. Her eyes were shut, as if she is taking the most peaceful nap. I can't believe how serene she looked even after suffering from so many injuries.
The medics arrived and transported her in the ambulance immediately.
"Lily-Lily.." Her feeble voice spoke.Â
"Yes, yes. We're taking to you to the hospital. Don't worry, you'll be fine." I said, holding her hands.
"Death is such a beautiful thing.." she whispered.
"Why are you talking like that? Don't-Don't say that." I said.
She smiled.
"Ally. Who did this? Who were they?" I asked.
She remained quiet for some seconds.
"Lily, I.. I want you to take care of him. Will you do that for me?" she said, breaking the silence.
"Who?" I asked.
She didn't respond. She stopped blinking.Â
"Beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep!" the heartbeat monitor's line became completely straight.
"No..." I said, holding her hands tighter.
I was waiting in front of the room she was being treated in. I was waiting. I was waiting. I couldn't wait any longer. Tears were falling continuously. I couldn't stop them.
"Lily!" I heard someone shout. It was my father.
I could tell how worried he was even from a distance. He came running. He was sweating profusely and his wrinkles were more defined than usual.
"Where-Where is she? Where's Allison?" he asked without taking a breath.
I pointed to the door and looked up at the ceiling.
The doctor opened the door with a report in his hands.
"What's her condition, doctor?" My father asked.
"I'm sorry, I tried my best. She was badly injured and well, we couldn't save her. I deeply apologize." The doctor said and walked away.
I opened the door and there was her body.
"Ally…" I ran to her and hugged her.
I sat down beside her and cried. Cried harder than I ever had.
Â
I gave some time to my father with her and stepped out, though unwillingly.
My father's secretary was sitting beside me. "How could this happen?" she sobbed.
I remained quiet.
