CHAPTER SEVEN
Might Be a Split Personality
Lucius heard the commotion downstairs, instead he stood by the window and watched as Avery shot down two of his men.
Lucius' eyes twitched suddenly and his heart suddenly trembled. He has never met this wife of his officially. This is the first time he had seen her.
Normally he rarely visits the estate, and whenever he does, Avery wouldn't even come out of her room to see him in person, she was never curious who he was.
The mansion is seven floors high and occupies many acres of land. If it were an ancient era, it would look like a typical castle. There were also different villas present besides the castle-like mansion.
He had never been interested in women. Women who had a crush on him could fill three counties.
Lucuis wore a black snake mask, his suit was adorned with gold brooch and a diamond gem.
The wealth the Devon's possesses is a mystery that people couldn't understand, they are on the top of the food chain in Italy.
Lucius initially came home to see his old man, but met such a scene. "Hmm. Interesting." A dangerous smirk played on his lips. Suddenly, his heart started beating fast, he clutched his chest and tried enduring the pain. Each time he stared at that figure downstairs, his heart palpitates hard. No one detected his abnormalities because he was enshrouded in darkness.
The Devon's have a huge nuclear family tree.
Grandpa Devon had three sons and one daughter.
Vida Devon is 62, she birthed two girls, namely: Francesca and Isabella. Those two are already married, and they travelled out of the country with their husbands. Vida's husband is late, so she stayed in the Devon's mansion to take care of Grandpa.
The first son, Charles Devon, gave birth to a girl and a boy, namely ; Aria Devon and Jake Devon.
Aria is 34, this year and she has a fiancé. She is a late bloomer and didn't marry early. Aria rarely comes back to the Devon's mansion, unless grandpa holds meetings requesting everyone's presence.
Jake is married. He married a woman with a nasty temperament named Giana. They occupy a part of the castle-like mansion. Jake is a surgeon, with many hospitals under his name, and he is 39 this year.
The second son, Leonardo Devon, married a woman named Alice. Birthed a son, named Lucius Devon. The most feared grandson among the bunch, with an evil temperament, and a weird personality. The one most enshrouded with mystery. Leonardo and his wife also reside in the mansion.
The third son, Roberto Devon. Gave birth to two daughters and a son, namely: Lorenzo, Guila and Guinevere, both girls are twins, they are twenty five this year. Lorenzo is older than both girls. He is in the entertainment industry, and is known as an international actor. His schedule is always tight, and he rarely visits home. Guinevere is interested in the business industry, and grandpa Devon delegated a large company for her to handle. Guila is a famous painter, and songwriter, one of the most sorted artists in Italy.
It could be seen that the Devon's have a grace like no other, they are born to rule the world. Their glory shines no matter what they do.
The Devon's family never had to bother about inheritance, because every single one of them had a share and property to inherit, which was divided equally amongst them. Everyone expands based on their own capabilities.
Among the bunch, Lucuis is like an overload. His capabilities are limitless. His resources could span many countries and Grandpa is surprised by him every day.
Lucius is 30 this year, and still looks like a man in his early twenties, one must say his handsomeness might be the cause of jealousy but no, the Devon's are endowed with many good genes. And neither of them is lacking in appearance. The only thing that baffles them is the fact Lucuis looks 22, while in his thirties.
Jeremy pushed grandpa into the elevator and headed downstairs where the commotion was taking place.
A woman wearing a sports outfit, mercilessly stepped on the throat of a guard. Jeremy's felt shocked. For a moment, he didn't know who the woman was. Since he always follows Lucius, he has never met Avery Whitman.
He brought out his revolver and pointed at the figure standing like a dark queen, holding a pistol. He Suddenly felt like she needed a more powerful gun. Her aura is too dark…
"You'd better put down the gun." A cold voice rang out, startling Jeremy. Subconsciously, like though it was an order he had to obey, he put away the gun.
Avery chuckled darkly, stared at the man under her feet for a while and walked towards the old man seated on the wheelchair.
The guards outside were trembling violently, fearing she might hurt their lord.
Grandpa's eyes brightened seeing her series of actions. This is the best daughter-in-law he has ever obtained! Why didn't he know she has such a temperament?
The timid Avery Whitman… he couldn't link her with the woman standing gracefully in front of him.
"Grandpa, you are unexpectedly good looking." The voice sounded deviant, no matter how one listens, it sounded very rude. But it is a complimentary statement.
Avery wondered that if grandpa Devon looked a bit handsome despite old age, then his genes are quite heaven defying.
Grandpa chuckled, "Compliment accepted. Your temperament suddenly changed, is this the Avery Whitman I know?" He asked tentatively.
"No. I'm not." Avery answered straightforwardly.
"I prefer the new you." Grandpa tried holding her hand in excitement. But Avery stepped back subconsciously.
"I'm not used to such intimate actions." Avery didn't blink. Each time she speaks, the word respect for the old doesn't appear in her dictionary.
Grandpa stared at the cold back in front of him and chuckled. It looked like he was inwardly saying, 'Grandson, see what I married for you!'
Following the memories in her head, Avery walked ahead of them. She didn't seem to be afraid that someone might pull the trigger.
"Will the new you stay forever?" Grandpa suddenly asked.
Avery paused her movements for a while, the old man was full of surprises. Although the former host rescued him, she didn't expect him to be this… simple minded. Either he has a simple mind, or his mind is too complex to be able to accept complex things.
And for Avery, she would choose the latter. A man who has made it this far, in terms of prestige and wealth, is never a simple man.
"Who knows? The stronger one dominates." She had a sly smile on her lips.
"Go up and rest for a bit. Come down to have dinner later, the others will be back soon." No matter how careless and nonchalant Avery behaved, grandpa didn't seem to care.
Grandpa's smile disappeared the moment Avery entered the elevator.
"Find out what happened in Whitman's villa. Leave no details unturned." He guessed Avery might have a split personality. And something must have triggered the dark and dangerous side to come out.
