CHAPTER TEN
NOT EASY TO BULLY.
Catherine came back after bidding farewell to the rich ladies who hung out with her.
She calmly drove back to the villa in the evening and waited for the gates to open. While she waited, she beeped the horn incessantly.
Finally, Catherine got impatient and walked out of the car to open it herself. She had already planned to deduct the gatekeeper's salaries this month.
She drove in, but the scene she met startled her greatly. Five men were lying on the floor unconscious. Her fingers trembled and she suddenly had a bad premonition.
She drove fast to the garage in a haste and got down from the car.
Catherine quickly tapped their cheeks and checked their pulses in the process. "Fortunately, they're alive." She exhaled softly and made her way into the villa.
Firstly, she saw blood here and there.
Catherine shivered subconsciously. She thought that Helen must have hurt Avery so bad and a smile rose up her lips. She wouldn't even blink if Avery was the one harmed.
Then she climbed up the stairs and searched for Helen. Unfortunately, Helen was not in her room. Catherine felt tense all of a sudden. Next, she checked Avery's nearly dilapidated room. Finding no one, she trotted back down stairs.
Following the trails of blood, she saw an unconscious, bloody figure on the floor.
Catherine wondered who it was, and leaned downwards and turned the person over. The instant the body was turned, her blood ran cold, causing her heart to constrict, like though she was experiencing a panic attack. Suddenly, she screamed so hard that it surpassed normal human decibel.
"Helen!!!!" She quickly crouched and grabbed Helen who had long lost consciousness. "No…please… this is not happening. Please… wake up… Helen…" Catherine's voice broke, and tears streamed down her eyes.
She struggled to pick Helen up and carried her bloodied body to the sofa.
Bruises filled Helen's face. And Catherine couldn't figure out who did this to her daughter.
Subconsciously, she thought it was a serial killer who traced Helen back home today. Her fingers trembled as she called 119.
Fifteen minutes later, an ambulance came and Helen was carried into the stretcher. Catherine didn't have anyone else in her eyes at that moment, even the guards still lying unconscious weren't tended to either.
A nurse wanted to pick the five guards along, but Catherine screamed like a maniac, saying that the space won't be enough for her daughter to breathe properly.
The whiteman's family also had a strong background and they had to obey her request. They made a series of calls and another ambulance came to pick the five up after the ambulance van with Catherine left.
Maurice hid nearby, she could barely walk properly. Her neck hurts so badly and she can't say much. She didn't dare show herself earlier because she knew that Catherine was a very selfish woman and would do anything to avenge her daughter.
And again, she didn't dare go against that devil. She was afraid that if she let anything slip, her life and her child's life won't be spared.
Thinking of her son at home, tears slipped out of her eyes. She didn't want any harm to come to him. She was afraid that all the things happening would affect his life.
She quickly made a decision, she would leave the country tonight! She had made enough money from the Whiteman's and the money in her account would be sufficient to live for five years if managed properly.
In the past, when ever she helped torture Avery, Catherine and Helen would always give her more tips. Fear gripped her, knowing that what Avery did was retaliation against her.
Avery had suffered all kinds of torture from the Whiteman's, Maurice could testify to that. Sometimes, she even couldn't understand how that fragile girl survived to this day.
Mystery surrounds the Whiteman's, and it gets weirder every day. She was not afraid that people would catch her escaping, because she was certain that Avery had destroyed all evidence. A crime scene without a culprit, real evidence and a witness remains an unsolved case.
Maurice didn't pack her things either, because it would be more suspicious. She only wore a mask, and covered her head with a black shawl. She also stole one of Helen's glasses to cover her eyes, to keep people from recognizing her.
Although her footsteps were shaky, it was slightly brisk. She left the moment everyone left the villa.
Grandpa Devon sat in his wheelchair and went through the documents his men brought him a few minutes ago.
In just Three hours, Avery's life history was written on a piece of paper. Money could seriously do anything.
The more he looked at the document, the faster he breathed.
After an hour, he flung the paper to the ground harshly.
"Void all the contracts brought by the Whiteman's group. In the meantime, Cease any collabs with them."
As Part of the benefits of marrying the grandson of the old patriarch, he enabled them to collaborate with one of the Devon branches. He didn't expect these families to be full of wolves and vicious animals!
He never expected the timid, shy and gorgeous Avery was bullied into depression!!
No wonder his daughter-in-law changed drastically today! She must have been stimulated by their constant bullying!
He was agitated and angry.
At the same time in a private hospital, limited only to the Devon's. Avery lay on the bed, with eyes closed. Her lips weren't pale like a normal patient should. Instead, there were bright red like red roses. Even in an unconscious state, the girl was so beautiful. Her lashes were so long, black and thick. Her nose was straight like a high bridge. Her lips are sexy heart shaped ones.
Lucius wore a mask on his face, the mask has the ability to change the colours of his irises to black.
It was a mask his grandpa paid billions to get from an enchanted witch who died years ago.
The temperature in the ward was cold and gloomy. The doctor, Mr. Ian, is not afraid of him at all. After all, he's familiar with Lucius' temperament. He walked towards Lucius and reported, "No traces of venom was found in her blood or veins. I don't think she fainted because of that. For now, I can't figure out why she fainted." He turned the page, wanting to continue but paused his words.
Lucius noticed his abnormality and casted Ian a sharp gaze. "Speak."
"No wounds of any sort were detected on her body… I don't know, but… it's all strange. She was bitten by your snake, wasn't it?" Ian whispered to Lucius who stared deeply at the woman on the bed.
"Yes, I'm certain. Mage bit deeply into her wrist. Even if her blood has antibodies, at least there should be a scar, right?"
"Uhh… right," Ian answered, more confused than ever. "Don't tell me your wife is as strange as you?" The moment the words left Ian's lips, he subconsciously shivered and dodged to the side.
"Are you seeking death?" Lucius stared venomously at Ian.
