Episode 4: ABCO Silver Championship
When we landed in Thailand, we went to our hotel and started unpacking. After we were done doing so, we toured a bit and went back.
The next day, we went to the local gym to do some mitt work and some light training to condition myself. My coach praised my conditioning and has been my avid fan since my first amateur fight. His eyes were always shining whenever he saw my conditioning as if a hard cult fanatic.
I just kept mummed about it as I know how I did so, yeah, my stats. After we're all done, we went back and started relaxing. My fight will be the next day.
//
We woke up in the morning and did some light stretching inside the hotel room. My coach then made some simple encouraging words while I nodded in silence. We left the hotel with our equipment in tow.
As soon as we arrived inside the arena, I saw some Thai boxing fans coming to the ticketing booth, and saw the betting line. I wonder what my betting odds are, whatever it was, I knew it would be high. Most Thai fans believe their fighters were superior against 3rd world asian countries, usually Philippines. It's a rivalry I guess.
After stepping inside, we were assisted to our waiting room. I am going to be the first one to fight so, it should be soon. Inside the waiting room, I changed to my fighting gear and my coach kept his serious silence as he fixed my hand wraps and gloves.
Hearing the cheers at the arena, my coach seemed more nervous than I, so I took out some assuring words to him. He smiled and his hands stopped shaking. I guess his experience isn't that much, it was his first overseas outing ever in his life.
//
The assistant knocked and came in, he notified us that we're next, and so, my coach and I stood up and started walking through the door. As a good act, I made sure to always show seriousness and some basic movement actions whenever entering the ring.
When I walked through the crowd, some booed me and even threw slur words at me, and they thought I did not understand what they meant? I did not fight in other countries without learning their languages. How many languages have I learned? 35. Some of them were rare languages I learned from my previous comrades when I was stationed in the middle east.
I ignored and just smiled as I entered the boxing ring. My coach started removing my robe and then started applying vaseline on my face and started reminding me of the game plan we formulated. He said "Stick to the plan!"
I nodded as I could not smile with a mouth piece in my mouth. The referee started talking about rules and all, we touched gloves and went to our corners.
I looked at my coach below the ring and he closed his fist making a sign of "fighting!" I wanted to shake my head because all of the efforts he did studying my opponent would go for naught as I planned to knock him out within this round.
I looked back at my opponent and when the referee called and the bell rang, my opponent rushed onto me, I also did the same and when he threw a jab-straight punch, I evaded and did a counter liver punch. The crowd went ballistic when the first encounter occurred. I saw my opponent hurting but trying to carry on as if it did not hurt.
I counted the seconds and when the 1 minute mark arrived, I purposely fought through in-box style, this made my coach shout in the corner, "Kid! Kid! Follow the plan! The plan! Get out! Get out!"
I heard him clearly, but my coach… this was the last punch.
As soon as my opponent threw a counter hook, I evaded the punch with just a few centimeters apart and threw an uppercut.
It landed on my opponent's chin and the sound was so loud the crowd went silent hearing it. My opponent went down after the punch, the referee started counting. I noticed he purposely slowed down the count but what's the point? He was completely out cold.
The referee stopped counting when he noticed that my opponent was not moving. And immediately called medics. He then came to me and raised my hand as the winner.
In just 1 minute and 20 seconds, I won via knock out.
//
My coach immediately entered the ring and lifted me up! I went with his celebratory mood so I raised my hands showing these Thai fans that I won and their racial slurs were nothing but air. With that said, they started clapping one after the other. I then nodded and thanked the crowd.
The Thai people respect the strong.
After the fight, we went back to the waiting room and got our paycheck from the organizers. We returned to the hotel to relax.
//
In the other waiting room, the main event fighters watched Victor's fight.
"That was a magnificent technique." The rank 1 asian flyweight contender said.
//
For the other contender, the rank 2 asian flyweight boxer. His coach warned him of Victor's emergence in the boxing world. "Be careful of this guy, he's dangerous. Did you see his evasion skills? Those are not jokes or flukes, those are serious evasion techniques." The coach said.
The rank 2 asian flyweight boxer nodded as his eyes were razor sharp watching the replay of Victor's knockout highlight.
