Chapter 6 - Chapter 6 Ghost Hunting

The midnight dormitory was eerily quiet, with even Wenwen's footsteps echoing in the stillness.

The entrance to the second floor was locked behind an iron gate, and the entire hallway was pitch-black, not even the lights were on.

After the last incident, the second floor had been sealed off, with no one living there anymore. It was likely to remain closed until the situation was fully resolved.

Wenwen sat in front of the entrance to the second floor for a while, then switched the Calamity-0001 prison point back to the wristband, regaining the vampire's strength and speed.

The gloves required a cooldown period of about ten minutes every time an ability was switched, so Wenwen had to prepare in advance before officially beginning.

After that, Wenwen took out two small iron rods and started fiddling with the lock on the iron gate, muttering to himself as he did.

"In horror movies, those who insist on entering situations like this usually don't survive past the first half of the episode."

As soon as he finished speaking, the lock clicked open. The lock had been successfully picked.

As a detective, it was only natural to have some skills in breaking and entering.

"I should charge the principal for exorcism services. After I'm done, this school will be free of a safety hazard... Well, let's consider this a public service this time."

After unlocking the door, Wenwen took a watermelon knife out of his backpack and walked into the dark hallway.

This watermelon knife was a tool of crime he had collected while solving a previous case. The criminal had injured quite a few people with it, making it a lethal weapon.

According to folklore, ghosts fear weapons with a heavy killing aura, so Wenwen had specifically brought this knife.

In the pitch-black hallway, Wenwen easily found Dormitory 225, where Pan Dapeng and the others had lived.

The vampire's night vision was excellent, so he could move around freely without turning on any lights.

As soon as he pushed open the door, Wenwen was hit by a chilling cold that made him instinctively cover his nose—the presence of this cold was overwhelming!

He wasn't sure if the vampire's physique had heightened his senses or if the ghost here was truly this powerful.

"Hmm... It's actually quite comfortable."

The sudden cold not only failed to scare Wenwen but nearly made him sigh in pleasure. For someone with a vampire's physique, this environment was more comfortable than a sauna.

But even though he was feeling comfortable, he couldn't afford to be careless. This was his first time dealing with a ghost, after all.

He opened his backpack and carefully laid out the items he had prepared in advance on the ground.

First, he applied some ox tears to his eyelids, then carefully took out a small spray bottle filled with fresh virgin urine. After that, he sprinkled some salt at the door and on himself.

Inside the room, a transparent ghost silently watched Wenwen busying himself, feeling a bit scared.

It was like a child home alone, peeking through the peephole at a man with a weapon outside, ready to break in at any moment.

Wenwen's actions had flipped the situation, putting the ghost in the position of fear.

The ghost's name was Qin Shuang. After dying three years ago, he had been aimlessly wandering, lost and confused.

Recently, he had been drifting near the school when he overheard Pan Dapeng and his friends discussing his story in a mocking tone. That snapped him out of his daze.

It took him a few days to finally manifest in this dormitory, and under the cover of night, he attacked Pan Dapeng and the others.

Back then, his strength wasn't great, which is why Pan Dapeng and his friends survived.

But now, Qin Shuang had grown much stronger. After successfully harming someone, he was evolving from a somewhat strong ghost into a malevolent spirit.

However, despite his transformation into a malevolent spirit, Qin Shuang couldn't suppress his fear when he looked at Wenwen.

The ghost's instincts told him that Wenwen was different from ordinary humans, and deep within Wenwen's body, there was a faintly discernible, profoundly malevolent aura that made Qin Shuang's soul shudder!

After everything was set up, Wenwen held the knife in his left hand and the urine spray bottle in his right, striding boldly into the dormitory. His first glance fell on Qin Shuang's ghostly figure.

"It seems ox tears really do work..."

Qin Shuang was about the same age as Pan Dapeng and the others, with a thin layer of frost covering his spirit form, and his body bore numerous scars where it had been stitched together, confirming that he had indeed been dismembered in life.

"I can see you. Don't you want to have a chat?" Wenwen toyed with the malevolent watermelon knife as he slowly approached Qin Shuang.

Qin Shuang remained silent, simply staring at Wenwen. After being a ghost for several years, he had lost the ability to communicate with people.

Moreover, he was already attacking. The temperature in the dormitory had dropped below that of a refrigerator's interior, and a regular person would have been frozen stiff and incapacitated in no time.

Yet, Wenwen felt no discomfort. Vampires naturally preferred cold environments; in fact, some vampire families liked to keep ghosts in their castles to create a more comfortable living environment.

Realizing that this little ghost wasn't welcoming him, Wenwen awkwardly chuckled and then gave a warm smile, saying:

"Actually, I'm here to help you. I know that ghosts like you usually have some unresolved issues. Why don't you tell me about them, and I'll see what I can do?"

Qin Shuang raised an eyebrow. Although he had no intention of sparing this human, he did want to vent his grievances and let the human know about the injustices he had suffered.

"I..."

Just as he began to speak, a blinding flash of a knife descended upon him!

One slash wasn't enough; Wenwen's arm moved so fast that it left afterimages as he hacked at Qin Shuang, causing his ghostly form to blur...

Yes, Wenwen had decided to chop not just a person but a ghost.

Wenwen had no interest in helping a ghost resolve its issues; he just wanted to capture a monster. Whether the ghost was happy or aggrieved was none of his concern.

He already considered Qin Shuang his property.

After chopping for a while, Wenwen stopped. Qin Shuang's ghostly form reassembled, his gaze towards Wenwen growing even colder. His anger had made him stronger than before!

Wenwen's mouth twitched, and he promptly dropped the watermelon knife, his eyes curving into a crescent shape as he smiled ingratiatingly at Qin Shuang.

"Turns out folklore isn't very reliable. How about we have a nice chat now?"

"You! Die!"

Qin Shuang let out a piercing screech that made Wenwen dizzy, then transformed into a wisp of black smoke and shot straight into Wenwen's body.

He had no intention of taking control of Wenwen's body; as a yet-to-be-fully-formed malevolent spirit, Qin Shuang didn't have the power for such advanced possession.

He just wanted to freeze Wenwen from the inside out!

But he only remained in Wenwen's body for a moment before being forcefully expelled, his ghostly gaze filled with shock as he stared at Wenwen.

Inside Wenwen's body, Qin Shuang had felt an indescribable terror, as if a great malevolence had locked onto him!

Still reeling from the shock, Qin Shuang suddenly found himself drenched in a foul-smelling liquid. He stared blankly at the liquid on his ghostly form, completely bewildered.

"Hmm... Virgin urine doesn't have the destructive power against ghosts I expected, but it can touch them. How fascinating."
