Chapter 10 - Don't leave me

"Look, I really don't have the time to escort you right now, I'm busy looking for my best friend" "You mean Eloria, right? I saw where she walked of to. I'll tell you if you take me with you." The gears in my head turn. Is this a smart decision? If he really knows where she went this deal might safe valuable time but on the other side is he totally going to slow me down if he continues to whine. What should I choose? What would Jaswyn choose? I think for a moment before I focuse on him again. "Do you have any useful abilities?" The tips of his ears blush slightly and he shakes his head. I groan in annoyance. "This will be so annoying but I really need the information so let's just do it. If we want this to work you have to follow me as quick but quiet as possible and do everything I tell you, got it?" He doesn't look very pleased by the idea of obeying me but he knows just as much as I do that we will both get killed otherwise.

"Good. The things that I have to do have priority so we'll get Eloria then my brother and then I'll bring you to your house. Now tell me where Eloria is." "I saw her walking in the direction of your house." "Why the fuck do you know-", I shake my head, "That's not important at the moment but we're definitely going to talk about that when all of this is over." He chuckles quietly and nods a last time before we take our leave and carefully close the door behind us.

My house is pretty near so maybe she even made it all the way to there. I hope she remembered that we keep a spare key in the dirt of one of the pots and got inside safely. We miraculously made it away from the Carnival to a shortcut that leads directly to my house without any further problems but when my house is in sight finally I see that the door is wide open. Oh gods, please tell me that it's just open because Eloria went inside and forget to close the door behind her, don't let it be that way because something evil got in. I start to run to the house as fast as I can. "Wait-!" But I don't listen to the Idiot as he tries to stop me, I'm too busy forgetting how to breathe because I see something truly horrible when I come to a abrupt stop halfway through the doorway. My brother. Laying on the ground. With lots of blood pooling around him from a stabwound in his abdomen. After a moment of shock in which my body is utterly frozen I'm finally able to run over to him, fall to my knees by his side and slightly shaking his shoulders while chocking out his name. "Rein. Rein, please. Please wake up, I can't do this without you." He slowly opens his eyes with much effort and manages to looks up at me. "Hey...little...sister." Tears start to blury my sight and I hardly manage to get out words. "Wh-What happend? Who did this?" Rein coughs weakly and answers quietly. "There was...a cloaked man...he came in out...of nowhere and...stabbed me with...a dagger before searching...the house." My eyes widen. Cloaked man? Like...? "Did he have two different, strange eye colours?" He frowns slightly. "He did...do you know him?"

I let out a shaky breath and my lips get ready to form an answer but Rein interrupts me. "Khes...tri...I can't...hold on...much longer." I sob, why does it have to be him? He's one of the only people who are important to me, I can't loose him but I know he's right, my hands are already stained with blood from holding him and I can feel his body getting colder under my touch. "Please, no, you can't go. You always worked so hard to get us by and I couldn't ever do anything to repay your kindness. Please don't leave me.", I choke out between sobs. Rein smiles weakly. "You've done...enough by...just being in...my life all this...years. I couldn't...wish for more,...you've grown into...such a strong women... don't let the world...break you." His eyes fall close and....silence. He's gone.
