Lucius turned to the unknown guy, who was now trembling, his head bowed low.
"Thou art going to get us both killed," the guy whispered, collapsing to his knees, his breath ragged and uneven.
Lucius barely spared him a glance, his expression indifferent.
As he noticed the enforcers preparing to drag the old man away, he acted on impulse, sprinting toward them. He shoved the enforcers aside and positioned himself as a shield in front of the old man.
"I said let him go! If I'm allowed one last chance, then why doesn't the old man deserve the same?!" Lucius shouted defiantly, his eyes blazing as he dared the enforcers to challenge him.
The unknown guy frowned, getting to his feet with a look of disbelief.
"What in blazes is wrong with him? Doth he harbor a death wish?" he muttered, clearly agitated.
