Asher awoke with a lingering, unsettling memory of the night before. The sight of Skylar, alive and well, was etched vividly in his mind. He had barely slept, torn between disbelief and a fierce, renewed desire to bring her back. He pushed himself up, swinging his legs over the edge of the bed just as the door creaked open.
Derek, his beta, stepped in, his expression carrying a hint of hesitation. "Morning, Alpha," he greeted, giving a respectful nod.
Asher nodded back, still groggy but resolute. "Morning, Derek. Knocking would be better. Don't you think?"
Derek chuckled. "Forgive me alpha. I'm only here to know how you're doing. I'll knock next time."
"Did you manage to extend my message?" Asher yawned before getting to his feet to stretch.
He was still hung up on what he had gone through the other night and he was ready to make his mark today.
