Sharx snapped out of his daze and exhaled briefly. After dropping his gaze for a moment without a word, he closed the document in front of him.
"So, how is it going with Maya Maureen, Sam?"
Sam, who had been watching Sharx in silence for several minutes, parted his lips. "The head of the Maureen family has accepted the invitation. He and his wife seemed elated by it."
"That's as it should be."
"But, you know, it kinda feels weird when I have to deliver an invitation letter to the person concerned through her family when she lives with them. It's not like Maya Maureen is underages or some sort, who requires her parents' permission to attend parties. Don't you think so?"
Sharx leaned forward slightly, resting his chin on his fist. "She lived with her parents? Hazel said she lived separately with her parents."
"Hazel said that? Ah, right, Maya just recently moved back to her family's home."
