Della Bosket paced around her office room. Her eyebrows were brought together in her nervousness and her heels made a loud clacking sound on the floor.
Her office looked much cleaner than it always done.
She had hurried to correct most of the things lying around.
It was Monday and she was expecting someone for an important interview.
Della chewed on her nail and frowned.
She was rather unsure of her decision to expect the coming interviewee.
Why had she thought this was a good idea?
Adam Linden was the twenty year old son of her old friend who was no longer alive. He seemed a sincere man over the phone and had contacted her a week before.
He had informed her that his father had passed away. He had drunk away his life after his dear wife's death.
It was a rare occurrence, but Della's heart strings had been pulled.
Adam Linden had asked about his mother and how her work had been. Della had been only too happy to oblige him with stories of the past.
It was nice for her to walk down memory lane to a happier and simpler time. She had cherished that phone call with the newly orphaned Adam Linden and the two had said goodbye in a pleasant manner.
A few days later, Adam Linden had called her with a strange request.
His life was full of anxiety and depression, he had complained. It had been so hard for him to concentrate on work. Memories of his mother had haunted him too much and nearly incapacitated him.
He was looking for another job and wondered if Della Bosket would be able to provide him with one.
Della Bosket had agreed to see what she could do for him.
She had asked that he come to see her on Monday for an interview.
Adam Linden had sent no resume to her since and it was annoying Della a good deal.
She was not one to entertain slackers or idiots and she had never helped anyone she knew unless they deserved it.
Della did not like how incompetent Adam was looking already but she was forcing herself to give him a chance.
Maybe she would be surprised by him.
For the sake of the young man, she hoped so.
Della Bosket stopped pacing and settled herself by leaning against her desk and facing the closed door of her office.
There were five minutes left to the interview. Adam Linden had not called since the last phone call where he had asked her for an interview or a job.
Della sighed.
She hoped he would not be late.
She hated tardy people. They annoyed her more than anyone else in the world.
Della had fired people in her own staff when they had showed up late more than five times to work. She simply hated the sight of them.
The tall lady was broken out of her thoughts by a firm rap on the door.
She was pleasantly surprised.
"You may come in."
The door opened and a good looking man walked into the room.
Della's eyes widened in surprise as she looked at him.
Adam Linden was tall and handsome. He had dark red hair that was definitely dyed and a strong build. There was a quiet and terrifying determination in his eyes that made Della like him instantly.
He smiled politely, "Adam Linden. I am here for the interview you so kindly offered for me."
Della's voice was lost on her for a moment. He had the smile of his mother. There was no doubting at all whose son he was.
But something about him was so unlike Maria Linden.
Della frowned.
She could not put her finger on it but something was different.
"Hello, Adam." Della nodded quickly, "Won't you take a seat in front of the coffee table? I will join you there as well."
Della walked forward as Adam did the same.
Her mind was whirling.
How had she missed such a handsome man?
The boy was fit to model and make good money. What did he work as?
She needed to know.
