Della could not believe her eyes.
Adam Linden was not at all what she had expected.
How had she missed such a handsome man?
The boy was fit to model and make good money. What did he work as?
She cleared her throat as she sat down opposite him. The glass table between them was spotlessly clean with a lone script sitting on it.
Her mood soured when she saw the stack of papers. They were giving her a headache.
The script was a stunning story. It had everything required to become a hit. But it was written by a new script writer who was unknown and not experienced.
For that sole reason, none of her actors with time on their hands had shown up to accept the story.
"So," Della looked up at Adam.
Adam's eyes flitted to her quickly.
It was clear he had been eyeing the script as well.
Della smirked, "That's a script. A script that has been giving me a head ache, I'm afraid."
Adam's polite smile graced his lips once again, "I see. I thought only people could give management headaches. What did the script do?"
Della laughed dryly, "Very funny. But you're right. The script on its own is alright. Good even. If I was surrounded by the right people, this script would make me very happy."
Adam nodded, "The script makes you sad because no one will pick it up?"
"Yes," Della smiled, slowly appraising the boy in front of her. He was not a fool. He was able to hold a good, steady conversation. He was quick and knew how to behave in a polite manner. She liked that. "None of my actors want to pick this up from me. The story is gold. Good enough to catapult someone straight into stardom, I daresay."
Something in Adam stilled.
Della caught that.
His body did not move before he regained his composure.
He was calm and very steady when he proposed what he did, "What about if I acted for your script? Would it propel me into stardom? Does your script have that power?"
Della's mouth opened just a little. She stared at him as she processed what he said.
Instantly, her mind imagined at all. Adam Linden with his tall and handsome appearance as the main lead. Walking to the sets, his face would appear in the monitors. He would take directions; he would stay calm. Just his stage presence could sell the story.
Della frowned when she came back to the present.
She was halfway sold but an actor had more to do than just command attention.
"Wait," Della Bosket said, her voice serious. "Did you want to be an actor? Have you ever acted before?"
Adam Linden's face was serious, "I have never acted before but I would love the chance to try."
Della did not respond immediately.
Adam continued talking, "It would definitely not hurt me to audition for your script. Who knows, maybe I could be your next star."
Della frowned, "You're confident you can act?"
Adam's voice was deathly serious, "I am confident I can do anything I put my mind to. And I am confident I can take myself to any height I choose."
There was a silence in the room after his statement. Della could feel a shift in the aura emanating from Adam. He was confident but it did not seem like the kind she had seen before from young and inexperienced people.
The fire in Adam's eyes was real and looked like he would take every opportunity to get to the top.
Della contemplated a little longer.
Her words were quick and precise, "Tomorrow morning. Seven AM and I don't want to see you late. I will hold the auditions at the large hall downstairs."
Adam Linden smiled, "I will be there. Thank you very much."
It was his mother's smile, but something was very different about it.
Della smiled back briskly.
Whatever it was, it was really getting under her skin. She could not deny though that she was drawn to the young man. Adam Linden had enough charisma to send some of her famous actors running for the hills.
