Kiara Hibby was running late.
She bit her lip as she ran as fast as she could. Her hair was going to be a mess when she showed up and it would be embarrassing to show up so out of breath and disheveled.
She groaned as she watched a large group of people blocking her way down the pavement. They laughed and talked amongst themselves as they slowly made their way forward on the small pavement.
What such a large family was doing out and about and not at their jobs on a Tuesday morning, Kiara did not know. She was late and she had to get to Stellar Entertainment as soon as possible.
Kiara shuttled to the left and stepped onto the road. There were no cars or vehicles in sight.
She sprinted past the large group and stepped back on to the pavement.
It was her first day of work.
Kiara mentally kicked herself in the head for not setting an alarm the night before. How had she done that? She was usually extremely anxious the day before a new job. How had she messed up so hard already?
Kiara groaned again and turned a corner and hurried along. The building was in sight.
It was a large, beautiful building towering over the other businesses nearby.
Stellar Entertainment was a rather successful business. It was not near the top ten companies, but it had produced several lucrative stars who had risen all the way to the very top of Show business.
Kiara had gotten such a good job straight out of the gate and she could not be happier.
Or maybe she could if she hadn't started out so late on her very first day.
Just the thought of her new boss, Della Bosket, made her flinch.
That lady definitely had a low reservoir of patience and a sharp tongue.
Kiara Hibby was not going to have a good first day.

Adam Linden was early to the audition.
Della Bosket had asked him to report at seven in the morning and Adam waited outside the building at a quarter to seven. He paced slowly on the pavement outside as he waited for the time to pass.
His mind was clear, and he was rehearsing calmly how he would go about the audition.
Adam Linden had never acted a day in his life. It had never been his calling and besides that, Adam had never seen the appeal. He was not too partial to fame or to attention but one thing he had always wanted to be was successful.
He wanted to be filthy rich with lots of power.
He had always wanted that, and his mother's passing had fueled him even more.
Not having acted before should not stop him from realizing the success he craved in the Entertainment world, Adam decided. His mind went through the things he would say at the audition.
He would introduce himself first, of course. He was not sure who would be on the panel for the audition, but he knew Della Bosket would be there.
Adam decided that his voice had to be clear and make an impact. Then, he would have to memorize the lines quickly and figure out the context of the scene in the whole story. Maybe he would ask the panel some questions. Surely that would make a good impression on them.
After that, he would-
For a second, Adam felt someone forcefully run into him. His chest took a direct hit, and he stumbled backward.
He had been run into by someone who was hurrying toward the building.
