Chapter 5 - Chapter 5

Two days have passed since I emerged from that deep state of learning.

In those two days, not only have I rested and recovered from the side effects of going a week without food, water, or sleep, but I've also been gathering intel on the place where I'll be "borrowing" some materials for a very, very long time.

Not that this place is anything special, of course. Just a multi-national corporation with some convenient connections to the military.

If someone could hear my thoughts, they'd probably be curious about what this place is.

The name of this corporation is Oscorp Industries, founded by none other than the father of one of my ex-close friends.

Norman Osborn.

Just thinking about that name makes my blood boil. That lunatic almost killed me while wearing a tech armor that looked like something out of a fantasy novel—a twisted goblin suit.

The first time I fought him, I was a newbie, relying on my senses to fight, and dumb enough to protect those useless bystanders who can only pull out their phones to record instead of running for their lives.

Sigh. Let's stop dredging up those pathetic memories before I get even more worked up.

Anyway, I've gathered all the information I need about Oscorp's main building to "visit" without anyone ever knowing I was there.

If everything goes according to plan, maybe I can "borrow" some of their research along with the materials I need.

Today is February 17th. Not only is it Valentine's Day, but it's also a Friday, which means there won't be too many people working late tonight.

And there's no better time to visit someone's place than when there's no one home.

I could probably wait a little longer, spend more time planning how to break into a corporation with military contracts, but my urge to get stronger isn't something that can be easily stopped.

And even if I do get caught, I can always fall back on brute force and escape after grabbing what I need.

Of course, I won't be wearing my usual suit or using my web shooters tonight. That would give them a pretty clear idea of who I am.

I'm not an idiot, so I've already prepared some alternative gear for the occasion.

I've got a gray suit with a hood that covers my face, and I've also made a pair of see-through LCD glasses that will display the building's map and the locations of all the surveillance devices.

I even put together a few stun devices that look like tasers, just in case I run into anyone while I'm "shopping."

If all goes well, it'll be a simple get-in-and-get-out job, and no one will get hurt.

I'll leave with everything I need to create my serum, and they'll get a wake-up call about their shoddy security system.

I'm a nice guy, really. Not only am I "visiting" them, but I'm also doing them the courtesy of showing them just how vulnerable their building is—for the low price of a few materials and maybe some insignificant files.

If it were anyone else breaking in, they'd be in serious trouble. So, really, they should be thanking me.

There's no way they'd be mad at someone nice enough to point out their security flaws, right?
