Chapter 10 - Chapter 10

When I heard the sound of gunshots, my spider-sense immediately went off.

Even though my body is stronger than a normal human's, a bullet to the head would still kill me.

So, with my superhuman agility and flexibility, I dodged the bullets as I approached the guards who were shooting at me.

I don't know if they were shocked by the sight of me dodging the bullets or if they just couldn't react to my speed.

Either way, the rate of their fire seemed to slow down, and their bodies began to retreat little by little, as if fear was setting in.

Of course, I wasn't going to let that happen. I quickly approached one of the guards and punched him in the jaw.

Seeing one of their partners get knocked out so quickly seemed to fill the other guards with even more fear.

Their hands shook as they held their weapons, and their bullets started flying wildly, missing their mark.

Taking advantage of their fear, I swiftly moved in and delivered another blow to the chins of the remaining two guards.

They immediately crumpled to the ground, unconscious.

"Sleep with the angels. Next time, don't be so nervous when you attack someone," I joked as I brushed the non-existent dust off my hands.

The chin is one of the most vulnerable parts of the body because it's connected to the skull near the brainstem.

A well-placed punch can cause the head to snap to the side, rattling the brain inside the skull. This can easily lead to a knockout.

That's why the quickest and best way to end a fight is to land a clean shot on that area.

Even if the punch doesn't knock someone out, it can still daze or stun them, disorienting them and impairing their ability to react or defend themselves effectively.

Which basically means they're screwed no matter what. Their only option would be to dodge it.

After knocking out the three guards, I quickly made my way to the fire exit.

If I stayed here any longer, I'd probably attract more guards because of the commotion from the fight.

Not only that, but they could call the police, who would then surround the building.

Not that I couldn't escape their siege—I mean, I could—but I'd have to use my crawling ability, which would probably reveal my identity as Spider-Man or at least make them be doubt it was me, and this would mess up some of my future plans.

Finally reaching the fire exit, I ripped the door off its hinges with brute force. I didn't have much of a choice since I could hear footsteps approaching from the corridor I had just passed through.

I jumped down the stairs in quick succession until I finally made it to the exit.

Using my see-through glasses, I found a path without cameras and quickly moved toward it.

Using the blind spots of neighborhood cameras and the darkness caused by the broken light bulbs—the handiwork of local drug dealers—I swiftly distanced myself from the Osborn facility.

Even though I was eventually spotted by Dr. Otto and the guards, my mission was still a success.

Not only did I acquire the key materials to make my modified serum, but I also got my hands on two other technologies that will help me immensely in the future.

All that's left now is to return to my base, rest, and prepare the modified serum.
