Chapter 20 - 17th: Strolling in the System Online Store [Part 1]

WREN STARED at his system window showing the newly updated daily quests. Since it was the early morning of the first day on this new week, Wren had to wake up early in the morning to do his first daily quest without the need to go to the dungeon tower.

This was a new week and Wren wanted to do many new things. One of them was to complete the second daily quest on the second floor of the dungeon tower. It was only normal because he was no longer a weak F-class now but an E-class rank hunter.

It may be second to the lowest rank but who cares? At least he's proud that he leveled up on his own strength and effort. And that deserves to be proud of; that's why he did.

So after having his breakfast, Wren lazily lay on the only long sofa in his small living room. He turned on his holovision, a more advanced version of his former world's television. From the word holo, this is a three-dimensional image interference produced from a flat circular tablet on top of Wren's table.

And when he opened it, the channel was flashing the news report about the hunter association. He didn't open it though to watch but just to have some noise resonating in the room.

It was because, as he stated above, he just wanted to check for the daily quests and, at the same time, see what the new rewards were all about.

After joining that meeting yesterday, he wasn't allowed to leave just yet because even when he was updating his class upgrade, the elders and the heads all tailed behind him like little ducks following after the mother duck.

When he had that visualization in his head, Wren could still feel the shiver run down his spine. That visual was really an eyesore even for himself so he tried as hard as possible to forget that idea and just update all his stats as soon as possible.

And that caused him to make a mistake. Because he hadn't prepared to hide some information on his profile that would make these old guys crazy. Information such as his acquired title, the detailed information of his summon and his summon inventory.

That was really the biggest mistake he ever made. Not because he wants to hide that information from them forever but because it was still not the right time to inform them of that. Now, it was almost the same as hell let loose on him when these high-ranking officials started to ransaking him questions about his system information.

He just feels lucky that these old guys became interested in that or it would be more tiresome if they would also end up interested in his skills from his new summon. Explaining all those things exhausted all his energy; he just wanted to quickly lay on the bed when he was finally set free.

So when he came back to his own apartment, he felt too tired and exhausted both mentally and physically that he had no time to see his rewards as he expected. He found himself falling to sleep the moment his body touched the softness of the bed.

Thankfully, all of his nerves and muscles that were overstressed because of yesterday's incident were more than relaxed and refreshed when he woke up this morning, like nothing of that sort happened.

Even his mental state was so at ease that he could think of planning his all-day itinerary without thinking of unnecessary things. And he has the energy to do so.

"Okay, let's see. Status open."

Wren put his hand on his chin as he contemplated. "I can't just click these rewards like before because I know that only means I have no choice but to use them up. But how can I know what's in there if I can't open them?" he asked himself.

If he would look at it based on his experiences on opening his rewards before, he really knows that he couldn't just click them if he didn't want to use them all up. Just like how he was still not using the [Random Summon Card] that he had received from his first task completion.

But he really wanted to look into these rewards!

"Classic yellow gift box? Is it the same as that gift box he received from completing the first monthly quest? Although that one was an ordinary class, if I remembered it right."

That gift box was where he had taken his first acquired item aside from the plus item skill of [God System Online Store] of his main summon. So maybe this gift box will also give him another item of a higher value?

"So if a gift box means an item inside, does the [Randomized Gift Box] also mean a random item will be provided? How random can it be though?"

It silenced Wren for three seconds before he suddenly sat up from lying on the sofa. Using one of his arms, he irritatingly messed up his hair in annoyance.

He just realized how he was becoming crazy by asking questions out loud and trying to find the answer himself.

Thinking of the stories his female colleagues had shared with them about systems, how the main character could at least have a sentient system to talk with, argue with, and provide answers when questioned.

While he, on the other hand, has only had himself to do all that.

Wren didn't want to pity himself because there's no one to do that for him as well so he could only think of it on the brighter side. At least with this solitary of his, he can improve his critical thinking and intelligence without always depending on the distributive ability points he would get from the quests and tasks he would complete.

Shaking away his self-pity, Wren tried to lighten up his mood by looking again at his system rewards.

"[Random Free-Choice Gift Card]? Aside from its long name, does it have the same content as the [Random Summon Card]? So does a card insinuate a summon reward?"

At least, the more Wren used his mind like this, the more he was getting near to the main idea itself. The only thing he lacks now is to see if his assumptions were proven right.

The only way to find that out was to open at least two of these rewards. Thus, Wren uses his head again to see what better choice was there to open first. It took him five minutes to finalize his decision and he quickly put it into action.

Following that thought, he decided to open the rewards with the 'random' word on the name to test the waters. And since there are three of them, he purposefully chooses the ones with long, complicated names, which were the last two rewards on his system panel.

Putting out first was the [Random Free-Choice Gift Card]. As he assumed that this gave summons while the other might give out an item, Wren tried to experiment with his luck in this combination.

Just as he had opened an item related to his summon, this procession of opening rewards might also work the same. Feeling confident in the way he thinks, Wren clicked on the reward.

——

Random Free-Choice Gift Card (x1)

Description: The [God System Online Store] is trying to show its generosity to the host! Using this gift card will allow you to open the [God System Online Store] for an online shopping spree of choices! Garner up all your luck, host and good luck!

Usage Description: Upon activation, the [God System Online Store] will open automatically. The host will be given three pick-up summon cards of different class ranks. The [orange] card allows the host to pick a summon with the same class rank as his. The [pink] card, on the other hand, was the next class above the host's class rank and the [violet] card was for the next class above it. After picking, these cards will be shuffled before the host and whatever the summon on the card he picks in the end will be his reward.

Caution: Upon opening, the item will automatically activate and once the host decides to cancel the use, this reward will be completely wasted.

And as the system had said, after Wren read all the details provided before him, the system window disappeared and instead, the holographic simulation system store appeared.
