Chapter 5 - Chapter 5: Sorry, I Can't Drive

"You damn beast—stinking beast—thousand times cursed beast—dare to enter my room—use my bathtub—make me see your [***]—" Tang Guo cursed with her pouting lips, each curse pressing the accelerator a bit more, and the car sped up. The fiery red Ferrari roared like a demon, leaving only a blur behind.

Tang Guo loved speeding. On her eighteenth birthday, her father gifted her this red Ferrari, and she fell in love with the thrill of high-speed driving.

With her mother passing away early and her father always busy, the car was her only companion. Whenever she went out racing, she no longer felt lonely. The adrenaline rush filled her with excitement, and after each race, she felt much better, with all her grievances and dissatisfaction swept away.

Tang Guo's beloved car was a Ferrari Scuderia Spider 16M, a model launched to celebrate Ferrari's 16th F1 Constructors' Championship. Only 499 units were made worldwide, and it was highly sought after. Knowing his daughter's love for Ferrari's beautiful design, Tang Buyi had pre-ordered one through a friend in Italy before the official release. Fortunately, his friend had enough influence to secure a unit.

After several accelerations, the speedometer needle pointed to 180 kph. Though far from the Scuderia Spider 16M's top speed of 315 kph, the wind blowing through the open car made Tang Guo's face flush, and her long hair streamed backward as if being pulled.

One hand on the steering wheel, she turned on the car's stereo, and Faye Wong's soft, melancholy voice filled the car.

Loving an angel's flaw With the language of a devil God on the clouds Only blinked once

Before the song ended, Tang Guo noticed two cars approaching in her rearview mirror. Excited, she turned down the music and waited for the cars to catch up. Finally, some competition.

As the cars got closer, she recognized them as the ones she had outrun earlier that afternoon. They were back for more.

"Hey, girl, didn't expect to see you so soon. How about another round?" The silver Porsche pulled alongside her red Ferrari, and a bald guy with a row of silver earrings grinned at her.

Although she found his tacky outfit distasteful, Tang Guo filtered out his appearance. After all, she was racing, not picking a boyfriend. "Sure, who's afraid? I beat you before; I'll give you another chance."

"You're on. But can we race somewhere else? This road is getting boring," the bald guy suggested with a smile.

"Where?" Tang Guo asked cautiously. She still had lingering fears from her recent kidnapping incident and didn't want to be reckless.

"Wolf Mountain. Heard of it?"

Tang Guo had heard of Wolf Mountain, a haven for underground racers. Every night, it attracted many racers and spectators, including many elite and white-collar workers. Though it was known to be chaotic, she had never been there because she didn't know anyone familiar with the place.

"Alright, let's go." After some consideration, Tang Guo agreed. Kidnappers typically lured their victims to secluded places, and with so many people at Wolf Mountain, they wouldn't dare try anything.

"Great. See you at Wolf Mountain. This time, we're racing mountain roads; let's see how you fare," the bald guy whistled, gestured to the car behind him, and the two cars sped off, leading the way.

While Tang Guo vented her anger by racing, Shen Mo Nong was fretting at home, feeling that Ye Qiu was a burden.

There were plenty of empty rooms in the apartment, but letting him stay would certainly upset Tang Guo. If not, where should he stay? Sending him back was not an option. Tang Buyi adored his daughter and hadn't budged on this issue, so Shen Mo Nong couldn't say much either.

"Bao'er, this mess is your doing. What do you suggest?" Shen Mo Nong asked, glaring at Lin Bao'er. Being called a 'genius girl,' Bao'er would surely have a solution.

Lin Bao'er blinked her round eyes, thought for a moment, and said, "Isn't there a room for security guards in the front? He can stay there."

"Where?" Shen Mo Nong hesitated.

"Yes, that's where he belongs anyway. It's the security room, and he's supposed to be a bodyguard," Lin Bao'er said with a grin.

So, Ye Qiu was led to a small dark room on the left side of the apartment entrance. The room, less than 20 square meters, had a single bed and a table. Covered in dust and cobwebs from being unoccupied for a long time, it looked rather shabby.

Ye Qiu had no complaints about his accommodations. Although the room wasn't as nice as the one where he had bathed, it was much better than his room in the village. He threw his large cloth bag on the floor and started cleaning.

Shen Mo Nong checked the time; it was almost 8 PM, and Tang Guo hadn't returned. The recent kidnapping incident still haunted them, which was why Ye Qiu was there as a bodyguard.

Unable to rest easy, Shen Mo Nong called Tang Guo. The phone rang several times before Tang Guo picked up.

"Hello, Guo Guo, where are you?" Shen Mo Nong asked worriedly.

"Sister Mo Nong, I'm on my way to Wolf Mountain to race. Want to join? I heard it's lively there," Tang Guo's cheerful voice came through the phone. Shen Mo Nong knew from her tone that she was fine.

"Guo Guo, it's late. Come back quickly. It's dangerous outside. Remember what happened last time?" Shen Mo Nong pleaded.

"Don't worry, Sister Mo Nong. There are lots of people there; it won't be dangerous. I promised to race, and it's bad to back out now. I'll come back right after," Tang Guo reassured her.

Even after the call, Shen Mo Nong remained uneasy. Thinking about Wolf Mountain, she turned to Lin Bao'er, who was playing a game. "Bao'er, check what Wolf Mountain is."

"Okay," Lin Bao'er quickly stopped her game and searched for Wolf Mountain on Baidu. Soon, numerous news articles popped up.

Shen Mo Nong read a few, her face turning pale. Grabbing her phone, she ran outside, saying, "It's too dangerous there. I need to bring Tang Guo back."

"Can't you call her?" Lin Bao'er pouted. If Shen Mo Nong left, she wouldn't have dinner. Shen Mo Nong always cooked for them.

"She won't come back if I call," Shen Mo Nong replied as she headed out the door.

Ye Qiu was mopping the floor when Shen Mo Nong reached his room. Just as he was eyeing her shapely legs under her coffee-colored suit, she urgently said, "Ye Qiu, come with me. There's an emergency."

"Okay. Should I change clothes?" Ye Qiu asked, looking at his knockoff Adidas outfit. He remembered city folks liked to change clothes before going out.

"No need. Hurry," Shen Mo Nong grabbed his sleeve and ran to the courtyard.

In the courtyard were two cars, a silver BMW and a cute yellow Lamborghini. Shen Mo Nong remotely unlocked the BMW and climbed in, telling Ye Qiu, "Get in."

"Okay," Ye Qiu clumsily got in.

"Drive," Shen Mo Nong said, fastening her seatbelt.

"Okay," Ye Qiu struggled with his seatbelt.

"Why aren't we moving?" Shen Mo Nong asked after a while, turning to him in frustration.

"You want me to drive?" Ye Qiu asked, puzzled.

"You're in the driver's seat. Who else would drive?" Shen Mo Nong felt like banging her head against the door.

"But—I don't know how to drive," Ye Qiu said awkwardly.
