Tang Guo felt extremely wronged. There were so many beautiful experiences she hadn't had the chance to enjoy—visiting Sri Lanka to see the giant Buddha, sunbathing in the Caribbean, the new Ferrari model coming out next year, having dinner with Faye Wong, falling in love, having sex—now she was facing death, accompanied by a dirty and annoying beast.
Even if she survived the crash, she'd probably end up missing a limb or disfigured.
The thought of being disfigured made her heart clench. She already felt self-conscious because her chest wasn't as big as Shen Mo Nong's or Lin Bao'er's. If her face were ruined too, she'd never be able to hold her head up again.
"Ah—my face—my face isn't hurt, is it?" Tang Guo anxiously touched her face and asked.
"Can't you look in the mirror yourself?" Ye Qiu rudely replied.
"Oh—" Tang Guo opened her eyes and checked her face in the Ferrari's rearview mirror. Her face was still smooth and flawless, without a single scratch or blemish.
"Ah—my face is fine, my face is fine!" Tang Guo cheered, and in her excitement, she hugged Ye Qiu and kissed him on the cheek.
Although the kiss was brief, just a momentary contact between her lips and his dirty face, the dirt on his face muted the sensation somewhat. Still, Ye Qiu felt dazed. Aside from the time he traded a colorful bird for a kiss from his childhood friend Er Ya, no young woman had ever kissed him.
Of course, the bird soon died, and Er Ya demanded another kiss to compensate. As an adult, Er Ya suspected Ye Qiu had killed the bird, but without proof, she dropped the matter.
In the twenty-first century, where even kindergarten kids called each other husband and wife, holding hands and kissing, Ye Qiu hadn't even touched a woman's hand. You can imagine how he'd gotten by all these years.
Ye Qiu was a man with needs.
"What are you daydreaming about?" Tang Guo asked, giggling.
"You kissed me," Ye Qiu said.
"Who kissed—ah—" Tang Guo screamed, remembering that she had indeed hugged and kissed this beast. "Yuck, yuck, yuck!"
Tang Guo felt a bitter taste in her mouth and a greasy sensation, spitting repeatedly to get rid of it.
"You owe me—you owe me!" Tang Guo felt increasingly wronged, hitting Ye Qiu's arm repeatedly. She blamed him for being there; if he hadn't been beside her, she wouldn't have kissed him. The thought of his dirty clothes made her stomach churn.
Ye Qiu thought Tang Guo was being silly. Er Ya at five thought trading a kiss for a bird was unfair, demanding another kiss after the bird died. This grown woman was just as intelligent as five-year-old Er Ya.
"If you don't start the car, the kidnappers will catch up," Ye Qiu said nonchalantly. He wiped his used handgun and threw it aside.
"Hey, why is your foot on mine?" Tang Guo complained. Even though he had saved her tonight, his behavior still irked her.
As she was about to start the car, she noticed his dirty black cloth shoes on her white boots. Anger welled up inside her.
"If I didn't step on it, could you brake?" Ye Qiu said disdainfully. In a critical moment, she had abandoned control of the car and closed her eyes. If he hadn't stepped on her foot, the car would have crashed into the Audi.
So he stepped on the brake for her? Tang Guo forgave his actions but not his attitude. "You said you couldn't drive. How did you know my right foot was on the brake?"
"I've never eaten pork, but I've seen pigs run."
"You dare call me a pig?"
"I wouldn't insult the intelligence of pigs."
"—ahhh—I'm going crazy. I want my dad to fire you. I'll never accept you as my bodyguard," Tang Guo ranted, pulling at her hair in frustration. She started the car and sped away, finding a wider spot to turn around and heading back down the way they came. She wanted to leave this dangerous place as quickly as possible.
Since Tang Guo's phone was broken, no one could contact her. Shen Mo Nong called repeatedly without getting an answer. Hearing the crash on the mountain, she dared not delay any longer and immediately called Tang Buyi to inform him of Tang Guo's situation.
Tang Buyi, who had lost his wife early and cherished his daughter dearly, couldn't tolerate her being in such danger. He quickly had Butler Zhang prepare a car and gathered a group of bodyguards to rush to Wolf Mountain.
Upon learning that both routes up the mountain were blocked, Tang Buyi immediately sensed something was wrong. Remembering the recent kidnapping attempt, sweat poured from his forehead. He called the city police, and the police chief, Guo Zhengyang, personally led a large force to the scene. The respectable onlookers fled in panic, while the lowly thugs stayed, albeit more discreetly.
Halfway down the mountain, they abandoned their cars and hurried up on foot. Leading the way was the panting Tang Buyi, followed by the worried Shen Mo Nong, bodyguards, and police. The road ahead was blocked by rocks, so they had to climb the rest of the way.
"Daddy!" Tang Guo called out, seeing her father gasping for breath, his face covered in sweat. Her eyes welled up.
"Thank goodness you're safe," Tang Buyi said, hugging his daughter and gently patting her back.
Shen Mo Nong gave Ye Qiu a thoughtful glance before turning to comfort the father and daughter.
Ye Qiu—Ye Qiu was surrounded by police officers, being questioned on the side.
