The car stopped in front of a luxurious villa. The elderly man turned to Ye Qiu and said, "Please wait here for a moment while I inform Miss Tang."
"Sure." Ye Qiu waved at the elderly man's back, curiously examining the exterior of the blue villa. Finally, he concluded, "Even the village chief's house isn't this tall and pretty."
During this observation, Ye Qiu's originally sharp face suddenly turned expressionless. Being away from home, one must always have a mask ready.
"Miss, I have brought the bodyguard Master hired for you," the elderly man respectfully informed a young girl.
"Call me the Super Invincible Pretty Girl of the Universe," Tang Guo said, sitting on the sofa in the living room with a fashion magazine in her hands, her slender legs swinging and making one feel a bit dizzy.
"Yes, the Super Invincible Pretty Girl of the Universe..." The elderly butler struggled to say the title, sweating heavily. "Should I bring in the bodyguard Master hired for you?"
"Bring him in." Tang Guo didn't even lift her head.
"Yes," the elderly man said respectfully.
As soon as Ye Qiu entered the hall, he was captivated by Tang Guo's legs. Slender, delicate, fair, and...
"Is he the bodyguard Dad hired for us?" Tang Guo glanced at Ye Qiu, her pretty face filled with disappointment.
"Yes," the elderly man replied helplessly.
"Those who know will recognize him as our bodyguard. Those who don't will think I have a cheap nanny from the countryside following me. I don't want my classmates to laugh at me. Wang Bo, take him away. He's already dirtied my Gerflor floor. I don't want him dirtying my sofa. It's imported from Italy, you can't find it here."
The elderly man known as Wang Bo looked at Ye Qiu standing in the middle of the hall, also feeling puzzled. With over thirty years of experience, he could tell that this young man indeed had no qualities of a bodyguard.
Thin and undernourished, he didn't have the sunny looks of an idol from a Taiwanese drama, nor was he handsome. At best, he could be described as delicate. He wore an oversized counterfeit Adidas tracksuit in blue and white, and a pair of handmade black velvet shoes. He carried a large cloth bag, from which a chipped porcelain jar peeked out. A typical rural laborer entering the city.
If he was said to be a rural laborer coming to the city for manual work, it might be easier to accept. But he was supposed to be the bodyguard for the daughter of one of the top three domestic companies—was the Master playing an April Fool's joke out of season?
But why would the Master send someone like this to protect Miss?
"Miss, it was the Master's instructions to bring him here," Wang Bo explained, bowing slightly, his face expressionless.
"I know. Take him away. I'll explain to Dad tomorrow," Tang Guo said impatiently, as if one more glance at this bumpkin would dirty her eyes.
Tang Guo ran to the sofa in the hall, shaking the body of a beautiful woman reading Freud's The Interpretation of Dreams, pouting, "Sister Mo Nong, how can you still read? Look at that man, he's dirtying the floor you just cleaned. And he's not even handsome, with terrible taste in clothes—yet he's supposed to be our bodyguard. It's embarrassing to have him follow us around."
Shen Mo Nong, the oldest of the three women in the Blue Apartment, had experienced the most. She had been observing Ye Qiu and frankly didn't have a good impression of him. Unlike Tang Guo, she didn't judge by appearance, but this boy's eyes made her uncomfortable.
Though he seemed to be from a rural area, he lacked the timidity and humility expected. Ever since entering, his roguish eyes had been scanning the lavish decorations, Tang Guo's chest, and her own legs.
—Not as tasteless as he seemed.
But she knew Tang's uncle. He wouldn't send someone like this without a reason. And after Tang Guo's kidnapping incident, they indeed needed a bodyguard.
"What's your name?" Shen Mo Nong asked calmly, hiding her annoyance.
"I'm Ye Qiu," Ye Qiu replied, smiling. Finally, someone was willing to talk to him.
"Where are you from?" Shen Mo Nong ignored his attempt at flattery.
"Liu Family Village."
Shen Mo Nong realized she had asked a foolish question, as she had no idea where Liu Family Village was. Asking was pointless.
"What can you do?" Shen Mo Nong asked, raising her eyebrows. This was her main concern.
"I can fight," Ye Qiu replied confidently, his face lighting up.
"Just look at you?" Tang Guo sneered. "With your skinny frame, even making soup wouldn't be enough for Bao'er."
Sitting barefoot on a high stool playing computer games, Lin Bao'er pouted, "Tang Guo, why involve me in your insults?"
"Because you have a bigger chest," Tang Guo laughed. Among the three women in the Blue Apartment, her chest was the smallest. Even the under-16 Lin Bao'er had developed better, which always bothered Tang Guo.
Lin Bao'er looked down at her chest seriously, "I don't think my chest is big—Mo Nong's is bigger."
Lin Bao'er was right. Her chest seemed bigger due to her small frame, while Shen Mo Nong, tall and well-developed, had curves and a refined air that made her a magnet for male attention.
Shen Mo Nong hadn't expected the argument to turn to her. The butler wisely kept silent, while Ye Qiu's eyes now lingered on her chest, clearly in agreement with Lin Bao'er.
Shen Mo Nong glared at the two troublemakers and coldly asked Ye Qiu, "How can you prove you can protect us?"
Ye Qiu thought for a moment, then stepped forward and swiftly took a purple hair clip from Shen Mo Nong's head, crushing it in one hand to reveal a small black listening device.
Shen Mo Nong's face turned pale, and the other two girls were shocked. They were being monitored?
"How did you know?" Tang Guo asked, her mouth agape.
"That's a professional secret," Ye Qiu said, smiling.
"Hmph," Tang Guo snorted. "Don't think that makes you impressive. We need a bodyguard, not a spy. If you can beat Wang Bo, I'll let you stay."
Tang Guo felt confident. Wang Bo wasn't just the family's butler but also her father's bodyguard, who had saved him from many dangers. Surely, this bumpkin couldn't beat Wang Bo.
Ye Qiu walked up to the elderly man, respectfully asking, "Are you Wang Bo?"
"I am," the elderly man nodded.
Bang!
As soon as Wang Bo confirmed, Ye Qiu kicked him in the groin, causing the elderly man to collapse in pain, veins bulging on his forehead.
The three girls stared at Ye Qiu in shock. Did he not understand respect for the elderly?
"How could you kick an old man—there?" Tang Guo was horrified by Ye Qiu's cunning move.
"A bodyguard sees only enemies, not age or children."
"No, this doesn't count. I didn't say start yet," Tang Guo protested.
"A bodyguard's rule: Protect the employer by striking first. I can give him another chance."
"No need. I concede," Wang Bo said, still unable to stand.
Fight again? He might die.
The Blue Apartment housed three women: Tang Guo, the eldest daughter of the Tang family; Shen Mo Nong, an intellectual beauty; and Lin Bao'er, a young girl. Ye Qiu's main duty was to protect Tang Guo.
