Chapter 1 - Chapter 1 When it all Began

Using a wooden cane to support himself, Zack walked out of his poorly crafted wooden house.

The winds brushed against his battered bruised body causing a cold chillness to assail his body.

Dressed only in thin black garments Zack shivered as he endured against the harsh treatment of the cold wind.

"You are one stubborn bastard aren't you?", sounded an irritating and familiar male voice, before Zack emerged a tall young boy dressed in dark thin garments similar to the one he was wearing.

Zack stared at this boy with contempt, and with a displeased voice he then said,

"What do you want, you demon?

the demon in question stared back at Zack and with a innocent expression it then laughed and replied,

"To think you actually have the audacity to call me a demon, considering the fact that you murdered your own family in cold blood"

Zack's expressionless face then shifted to that of sadness, from the golden rimmed spectacles that he wore, tears began to roll down on his cheeks, clutching his head Zack began whisper to himself in hurried manner,

"l di....didn't...l didn't mean too...l had no choice...it wasn't my fault goddammit.....you know l am innocent"

The young boy infront of Zack then laughed,

"Oh please, innocent my ass, you probably had been wanting kill them for a long time, despite all of that love that they gave you what did you do to repay their kindness other than reaping their lives,

Hahahaha! and to think you actually had the audacity to accuse me of being a demon , gods you truly have no shame do you?".

Zack leaned on the walls of his wooden house

dejectedly, the right len of his glasses seemed to glow with golden light and he casted a glaring look at the young man.

Upon seeing Zack's hateful glare, the young boy could not help but be amused and with a taunting voice he then said,

"Ooh angry are you, well come on then release it all in, but l will have to warn you that not only am l strong but l am also considered to be one of the most ruthless entities in the history of men.....and spirits".

Zack kept on glaring at the boy infront of him, thinking of possible ways that he could use to kill him, but after contemplating for a while he later dismissed these thoughts ,as much as he wanted to beat up this annoying fellow he knew his limits, this young boy with the less imposing and fragile appearance he had was anything but weak, underneath all of that was a dreadful, cunning and monstorous creature he had never seen before.

Seeing Zack's lack of reaction to his taunting, the boy then added with a provoking smirk,

"Eeee what is this, is the great and mighty Zack backing down from a fight, and here l thought that you had some spine in you, l guess you are all bark with no bite".

Zack stared with contempt at the young boy who he had suspected to be inhuman for a long time, the inhuman boy stared back at Zack with a mocking expression as he waited for his reaction, unfortunately to his dismay Zack did not take the bait, instead he had just simply limped his way towards one of the massive trees that marked the entrance into the forgotten forest.

Staring at Zack's back for a few moments the young boy then followed behind silently.

After walking with difficult Zack finally reached the forest's entrance, he peered inside it and saw the usual mist that had always wafted inside the entire forest.

Zack could not see much of the forest's interior since his vision was obscured by the gray fog within and he could not even venture inside due to the dangers that were associated with the forest itself.

The forgotten forest was one of the most dreadful places that had appeared since the last fall, its most harrowing danger was the danger of oblivion and those who entered the forest were suddenly erased from history and were forever lost in this land, Zack knew so because he was one such person who had been lost and forgotten after he had attempted to venture into the forest.

As for how he entered this place it was all because of a certain incident that took place two years ago, the day when Zack killed his parents and siblings.

Thinking of his dead family Zack was suddenly reminded of the unpleasant memories of his life back at home, the time when it all started after that certain incident, two years ago.

'l wonder if they are still searching for me...they have probably forgot".

Two years ago,in the year 1145, a harrowing incident was about to unfold to the young boy named Zack inside the great city of Zoan.

Beep! Beep! Beep!

The beeping sound of an alarm suddenly rang out inside a small bedroom, a slender hand reached out to the device responsible for this noise and then furiously slammed it shutting it off in the process.

After the beeping sound had receded the owner of the slender hand had then returned to his sleep once again.

_beep!_,beep!,_beep!

The alarm rang out once again and this time it was a bit louder, and the young boy who was enjoying his sleep on a small bed was forced to wake up.

With reluctance Zack untangled himself from the cotton woolen blanket that had been coiled around his body.

Rising from his small bed wearing nothing but a morning gown the boy shivered against the cold and then went toward his bathroom to freshen up.

He first splashed some water on his face to remove the lingering sleep that was still assaulting him and after that he went and retrieved some scholarly looking clothes from his closet to wear.

Several minutes later the boy was now donning a white collared long sleeve shirt with dark linen trousers and black formal shoes.

His short black hair was fastened up properly and was seemingly reflecting with a smooth luster due to the oily substance that had been smeathered on top of it, on the boy's nose bridge rested a pair of golden rimmed spectacles that had intricate designs on them.

After Zack had dressed up, he then went and retrieved a small black briefcase that had strange runes carved on it, with composed footsteps he exited the small room and descend down the stairway while later emerging into the living room.

Inside the living room there were three sitted figures who were constantly chatting in a friendly manner.

Among these three figures one was a middle aged woman with long brown hair and small brown eyes, at the left side of this woman there was a young man who appeared to be in his early twenties, the young man had short brown hair and small brown eyes, he looked like an older version of Zack.

At the right side of the man, an elegant young lady who also appeared to be in her early twenties was sitted with a composed posture while listening and observing the middle aged woman talking.

These three were Zack's biological family, the middle aged woman was Zack's mother Mary, the young man on her left was Zack's older brother Jack and the elegant lady sitted on the man's right was his elder sister Kale, these four with Zack included were the Mason family.

The moment Zack entered the living room, everyone who was speaking suddenly went quite as they stared at him with worrying gazes.

The middle aged woman then took the initiative to speak,

"Morning sweetie, how was your sleep, are there any latent problems l should know?".

The young boy named Zack then stared at the three worried people in front of him and then rolled his eyes.

He voice carried a hint of sarcasm as he replied to his mother's worried probing.

"Morning to you mother, don't worry l am still fine, there are no latent signs of me burning the house".

The middle aged woman on the small cushion was not convinced and with a concerned tone she probed further,

"Are you sure, l mean did you check thoroughly?....or maybe l should do it myself".

Zack shook his head upon being asked,

"Yes Mother I checked thoroughly and besides my birthday is like a month away, l doubt that the signs would start to manifest this early, so don't worry l am honestly fine'.

Zack's mother was reluctant to believe him and with some hesitation, she then said.

"Okay if you say so then l guess its fine, but remember if you experience any unusual signs no matter how little they may be, be sure to inform me quickly".

Zack tersely acknowledged her words and replied curtly,

"Okay"

"Anyway l am off to school, see you all later", said Zack while he was already heading toward the exit.

The three figures simultaneously responded,

"Okay, bye".

As Zack went outside, the cold winds assaulted him, the air was moist and cold, the sky was covered by dark gray clouds that constantly rumbled with thunder and the ground appeared to be moist, indicating that it had rained not long before.

Zack moved through the cold damp road and reached out for a taxi.

A few moments later a white cab then halted infront of the young boy, who then boarded inside.

Not long after Zack left the house, the three Masons were discussing some matters with grim expressions.

"So, was he telling the truth?", asked the middle aged lady who was called Mary.

"No he was not, from what l have observed, from the moment you asked him about the signs, every word that he had uttered after was nothing but lies", said the young man who was sitted opposite her.

From the left side of the young man, a lady of the same age then released a tired sigh,

"Then l guess that confirms it, he has the curse".
