Exelirus took a deep in as he looked forward. He had to be light years away from the reign in space where his home world once stayed, far off in distant planet, yet from so far away he stood before a somewhat familiar sight, one which he would be blatantly lying if dared to say he missed it. It dread of every young Kinetrixian, a place where that had to remain confined within the four walls of what felt like a prison, their moment restricted and they were all forced to remain perfectly still while trying to maintain focus on a single thing while wearing clothes specially designed to restrict their freedom even more. Exelirus let out a deep sigh before pondering to himself, whether some horror were a universal constant across all worlds and if even if he was travel to another he would still have to face that dreadful place. The place happiness comes to die, where joy and laughter is a crime, and is specially designed to keep you confined, the worst kind of prison, school.
Exelirus was brought out of his train of thought by Daniela calling out to him from behind, "Hey kid".
He then turned around to face her seated on her motorcycle with leather suit on that had drawn the attention of most of the parents dropping their kids.
"The first day of school can be tough so please try your best to stay out of trouble and don't rush in to anything stupid out of impulse", said Daniela.
Exelirus upon hearing what Daniela said just let out a deep sigh before approaching the school doors.
Daniela simply swung her head from side to side before grabbing her helmet and placing it on her head, "Good luck kid, you'll need it". Then rode off on her motorcycle, leaving Exelirus alone to face his first real challenge while living on Earth
Bright Reach Primary School, whether it was in earth or light years away, they all the same, field with kids, wearing the exact same copy and paste uniforms, who really didn't want to be there but had. It's for you own good she said, don't you want a bright future she said, you can't live you entire life zipping around aimlessly as at mock ten she said *sigh*. He loved her and did miss her immensely but sometimes she could be a really nag.
Exelirus made it in to the school and upon doing so a teacher was there to assign him to his class. Prior of him having to come to that dreadful soulless place, he had spent about a month living with Daniela and within that time frame she had managed to teach him everything he needed to know about Earth from its basic history to how to behave around people, and from what he gathered Earth wasn't that much different from Kinetrix, sure the food was bland and everyone insisted on using machines like cars to gather around instead of just sprinting at supersonic speeds to where they wanted to go, but apart from that they weren't that many difference as both species spoke the universal language, a language that almost all every advanced race evolved to speak and physically, apart from their colorful hair and the Kinetrix energy they generated, there was little to know difference between humans and Kinetrixian.
"I-I'm", he struggled to let out a single.
Exelirus wasn't much of a people person even back in Kinerix, in fact the only real friend he had ever had was his brother. Exelirus just stood, despite the fact he was currently where a device called a holocloaker on his neck Daniela gave him to change his appearance, turning his bright blue hair brown to appear more human so he could feet, Exelirus had never felt more like an alien from another world than he did at that exact moment which was one he reasons why upon reaching the class and asked to give an introduction by the homeroom teacher, Exelirus just froze up.
"I'm…" Exelirus continued to speak in a low voice while all the other kids just stared. Couldn't hear them whispering and muttering to themselves about how strange and weird he was. Exelirus then took a deep breath before saying to himself in his, 'you can do this, survived the annihilation of you world, you can survive school".
"I'm Excel", Exelirus finally managed to speak, using t much more human sounding Daniela suggested for him to use. Though he didn't really like the fact that he had to change his name, he was at the very least thankful that the name was somewhat similar to his native Kinerixian name.
"Alright Excel, you can take seat along with the rest of the class", said the teacher.
Exelirus wanted to dart at the speed of sound to very back of the class away from all the staring eyes of the other kid but *sigh*, he promised Daniela he wouldn't use his powers in school, so, as much as he detested having so many eyes on him, hearing how they were bus whispering about him, he just had to deal with it and take one insanely slow step after another. One of the students then extended his feet out as Exelirus walked in an attempt to trip and cause him to stumble as he walked passed but Exelirus noticed his foot on time and was quick and agile enough to avoid it and continued to make his was back to his.
He managed to find an empty seat next at the back next to a girl that had her head bowed down on her desk. She didn't look interested in anything going on in the class and bowed face was concealed by desk. Exelirus was thankful to find such a good seat at the back next to somebody who wouldn't bother him, hoping that he would be able to make it through the day without losing his mind completely.
The class began with the teacher writing down a few things on the chalk board before proceeding to explain the lesson to the students. Exelirus just sat on his sit silently trying his best to pay attention and take a few notes but as seconds past he found himself losing more and more interesting in what the teacher was saying and slowly descended in to completely and utter boredom. Exelirus tried his best to rest having to yawn but he couldn't stop his mouth and jaw from open and extending, but he managed to cover his mouth and be silent enough so the teacher couldn't hear him.
It wasn't entire Exelirus's fault that he was finding the lesson boring, he was young Kinerixian after all and they weren't really known for having the greatest attention span. If earth children had an attention span that lasted for a few short minutes, Kinerix's lasted for less than a millisecond, the fact that it was math class didn't really help Exelirus focus much either.
"Alright then does everyone understand how to solve the equation?", the teacher asked the class.
"Yes", the entire class yelled out in unison.
"Alright, who would like to come out and solve it", the teacher asked.
No one, not even the crickets dared to make a sound after hearing what the teacher said.
The teacher then let out a deep sigh before scanning through the entire class with all the students averting their gazes from hers, not wanting to be the unfortunate soul picked to solve the math problem on the board. Exelirus seemed to be a fast learning as he quickly looked away from the teacher burying his face down to his desk, pretending as though he was busy taking notes.
The teacher's gaze however seemed to be fixed on him, a fact he could sense even without needing to raise his head to see but still his head remained bowed down, hoping that her would pass him but it remain fixed in place. Soon then teacher began to walk forward, one step after another, moving closer and closer before eventually reaching his seat. Exelirus the gulped, cursing his luck, wondering why he couldn't seem to avoid misfortune, first the complete and total annihilation of his world and now math, couldn't he catch some kind of a break.
"Alana Williams", the teacher called out, seemingly ignoring Exelirus and focusing on the sleeping girl across from him.
Exelirus upon seeing that he was not the one the teacher was after let out a sigh of relief, thankful to the sleeping girl seated across for him.
The girl, upon hearing her name being yelled out by the teacher slowly opened up her eyes and drowsily rose up her head. Looked like she was half asleep with her eyes struggling to stay open and maintain contact with the teacher's.
The teacher upon seeing the sleepy drowsily and seemingly uninterested look in her eyes became furious.
"This has got to be the hundredth time I've caught you causal sleeping in class Alana", said the teacher, her eyes blazing with rage but the tired and sleepy expression didn't change in the slightest.
The teacher filled with nothing rage and anger gave her the chalk on her and said, "Go answer the equation on the body".
The girl then looked at the chalk on her hand and then back to the teacher and then the board before slowly making her was to the board, then she just stood there for a few minutes, staring at it a tired gaze before placing the chalk on the teacher's desk and going back to her seat, basically ignoring the teacher. The teacher was basically fuming rage at moment upon witnessing what the girl just did in front of her and the rest of the class but instead of exploding like the ticking time bomb like what Exelirus expected, she simply took a deep calming breath, seemingly swallowing her rage and headed back to the front of the class and continued teaching as if nothing had happened.
Exelirus, wearing a look of shock and confusion, scratched his head wondering if there some part of human behavior he was failing to grasp, maybe he was wrong about his assumption on thinking Earth and Kinerix were similar, recalling the dreadful scolding, punishments, and occasional beating a student would have to endure for disrespecting his teachers in anyway, both from the school and home, a form of discipline that instill a sense of fear and dread in the hearts of any young Kinerix to ensure they behave or at the very least not get caught doing anything disrespectful.
Exelirus then let out a deep sigh, thinking that maybe life on would be easier than he thought. He then shifted his gaze to the girl seated next to him, her hair was a complete mess, and her eyes were sunk down with faint dark spot forming on them. She looked tired but then again she was sleep during class so that was very hard to deduce and yet…
The girl then brought out her note book and started jotting something down. She had the exact same tired expression on her face as she wrote and seemed as though she wasn't paying attention to anything not even what she was jotting, it was as though the hand holding on to the pen was moving independently detached and separated from the person it was attached to. She continued jotting down for a few short minute before stopping and then let a deep sigh before closing the book and proceeding to lay back down on her desk once more drifted away back to sleep.
Exelirus couldn't help but feel a sense of familiarity from girl but wasn't sure why, he knew absolutely nothing about her but could clearly see in those tired something he knew all to well. Time seemed to have sped up as Exelirus's mind found something more interesting to focus more on than the lesson the teacher was teaching. Soon the bell rang signaling time for the school's afternoon break and all the students were quick to rush out of the class room, all except the girl seated next to Exelirus who slowly and sluggishly stood up from her seat upon hearing the bell ring, leaving behind the note book she used in jotting.
Exelirus who would have usually been the very first student to race out of the class remained seated on his seated and simply waited for the girl to leave. He wasn't entire sure why though, perhaps it was simply out of curiosity, but the image of that girl's tired gaze seemed to etched in his mind and he found himself wondering just who was she. Shifting his gaze to the note book she left behind and finding it wide open, and its open pay was none other than every equation the teacher as her to solve on the board, solved.
"Huh", Exelirus felt his interest and curiosity towards that girl grow along with the urge to know more about her.
