Exelirus could feel a pair of eyes watching him all throughout the remaining school hours. He tried his best to ignore it and focus on what was being taught but the fact that the pair of eyes staring at him belonged Alana who was literally seated next him didn't make it easy. Alana seemed to be more interested in him than the lesson being thought as her eyes seemed to be fixed on him was busy examining him and it Exelirus extremely uncomfortable.
After what felt like an eternity the bell finally rung and every student grabbed hold of their bags and rushed out of class. Exelirus who couldn't who was being eager to race out of there at supersonic speeds had, using every ounce of willpower he had, resist the urge and slowly ran out of class along with the rest of the other kids.
Alana on the other, unlike the rest of her peers who were beyond ecstatic to leave the class, moved sluggishly not even putting the effort, in lifting her feet off the ground and dragged them through the floor towards the door.
"Alana, before you go can we have a talk", the teacher called out to her.
Alana let out a deep sigh, knowing exactly what she wanted to talk about.
Alana then went to the teacher's desk.
The teacher then brought out a familiar note book and opened to the page with the solved equation.
The teacher then let out a deep sigh before saying, "What's wrong Alana?"
Alana replied with silence.
"I know you're a brilliant girl, you have good grades and always do a great job on your assignments. But you're also distant, spend most of you time in class sleeping, you don't talk or interact with the other kids", said the teacher.
Alana just remained silent with the same dull and seemingly lifeless expression on her face; the teacher might as well be talking to a statue at that point.
The teacher then took a deep breath before saying, "I heard you were raised by a single parent. Your father, I don't mean to step out of bounds as a teacher but if there a problem at home that's affecting you then…".
"Nothing is wrong", said Alana.
"Are you sure about that", the teacher as a mix of concern and worry etched on her voice.
"My roles as a student is simple, study, learn, and get a passing grade. I am not obligated to do anything beyond that, just like your role as a teacher is to simply teach and grade your students. So please don't go beyond what your role as a teacher", said Alana before grabbing her note book and walking out the door.
The teacher just let out a deep as she her leave.
Alana stood by a corner in front of the school's entrance playing with her gaming console, before her eyes shifted its gaze away from the console to the watch on her wrist.
"Late again, as usually", she spoke in an unsurprised but annoyed tone.
"Ugh", she heard a sound not too far away from her.
Shifting her gaze away from the watch and then turned to see a certain blue eyed boy seated by the stairs not too far away from her. She wasn't expecting that there would still be another student in school especially since it had been a few hours since the school had closed.
It seemed as though all the students had already left with their and there only a few teachers and school stuff already, meaning just she and that strange kid that were left as the only student in school. Glancing at the strange kid once more, it looked as though he was trying to do his math homework and was finding it extremely difficult
'What a weirdo', Alana thought to herself recalling how he was much he fumble when introducing himself to the class and the enormous about of sweets he devour which was probably enough to give ten grown men a serious case of diabetes.
She then let out a sigh before recalling how he saved her from those bullies. She didn't ask to be saved, neither did she care or want too. She was already used to it, taunts, insults, the occasion pranks; they were nothing new to her. They were even a few times when she would even at beaten. She did try reporting them to the teachers during few occasion when she was fed up with having to deal with the bullying but it didn't really do anything. Most of the kids that went after her had parents with deep connection and even deeper pockets, and so all they had was simple slap on the wrist and say a fake apology and a meaningless promise never to do it again.
It was really frustrating, the other kids seem to hate for reasons she didn't quite get. Some were envious and jealous of the fact that she was seemingly the teacher's 'pet' and because of that she could get away with almost anything while other just thought she was weird. Whatever the reason was, they didn't like and over time she grew used to the way they treated and never expected anything to change or anyone to really and then he showed up.
Exelirus staring the equation on his note book with a look of frustration while scratching his pencil on the side of his head let out a defeated sigh. He thought that seeing as Daniela was running late to pick him up, he might as well do his homework. It would have loved to just race all the way back home with his speed but Daniela made him promise not to, under any circumstance, even if the sky fell and ground split open, to ever use his powers in public. So he decide to pass the time doing some homework, a decision he immediately regret as in every planet and world across the cosmos math would always be his greatest enemy.
"You forget to carry the 1 and divide by 4", a voice spoke from behind.
Exelirus then turned around and saw Alana standing behind.
"How long have you been standing there", asked Exelirus a bit startle by her presence,
"Long enough to know you're terrible at math", she said while glancing at his homework and seeing the all the errors and mistakes he had made.
"Yeah, it isn't really my favorite subject", said Exelirus.
The girl then sighed before taking a seat next to him and brought out her note book.
"Seeing as my dad forgot he has a daughter again, I might pass the time by doing my math. And seeing as you a total idiot when it comes to math, I'll let you take a peak", said Alana.
"Thanks", Exelirus spoke, unsure if the girl was offering to help him with his homework or just insulted him.
Alana then opened up her book and got start with the homework. Exelirus just looked at her as she did her homework, seemingly only glancing on her work before she began writing. She made no mistakes or errors in work, seemed to have done very single in her head almost as fast as he could run before beginning to write done the answers. Exelirus, having the ability to comprehend things at super speed, found it extremely difficult to keep up her she solved each and every math problem, and confidence she exuded as she did he could tell that she knew what she was doing. Exelirus managed to follow her and copy off most of her work, thankful he managed to understand a few the solutions to most of the equation as copied off her to do most of the work himself so he wouldn't feel too guilt for copying off her work, even though she was the one that offered
"There, all done", she said, having finished doing her homework seemingly in the amount of time it took to blink.
"Wow, you're really smart", said Exelirus, amazed by how fast she finished her home work.
"It helps when everyone around me is a bumbling idiot", said Alana as she put away her book.
Exelirus looked with a look of shock and confusion, wondering just what on earth was wrong with that girl.
"Hey", Exelirus called out to her.
"What", she replied as she turned to him.
"If you're so smart why didn't you the answer question the teacher gave you back in the class?" asked Exelirus.
"Didn't feel like it", she said bluntly.
"You didn't feel like it?" Exelirus spoke in a puzzled and confused tone.
"Yeah, I didn't feel like it, so I didn't do it", said Alana.
"But why?" asked Exelirus, failing to understand the girl's strange reasoning.
"I've already told because I didn't feel like it", said Alana.
Exelirus upon hearing Alana's reason once again just an exasperated sighed before saying, "Whatever, I give up. Thanks for helping me with my homework".
Exelirus then put away his books and shifted his gaze back to the school gates.
"Parents forgot you exist?" asked Alana.
"What? No", said Exelirus, shocked and taken aback by her question.
"Then why are they running so late to get you", said Alana.
Exelirus just let out a deep sigh before saying, "Daniela's probably late because of work".
"Daniela? You adopted or something?" asked Alana.
"Kind of…Wait, why am I even telling you these thing, why are you even you questioning", asked Exelirus, realizing that he may giving a tab bit too much information about himself.
Alana upon hearing what Exelirus said just let out a deep sigh before saying, "Boredom I guess".
Exelirus looked; wondering is people on Earth could really be strange her.
Exelirus then let out a sigh once more while palming his face as thought about just how strange the girl next to him was.
"Can I ask you a question", she asked while rubbing the side of her elbow.
"That's all you've been doing", retorted Exelirus.
"It's Excell right?" asked Alana, her voice soften as she spoke.
"Yeah", said Exelirus, still not entirely used to the name Daniela gave him.
"Why did you help me?" asked Alana in a tone mixed with sadness and confusion.
Exelirus upon hearing her question paused for a moment before turning her, seeing as her demeanor had shifted from the confident and straightforward girl that was busy blasting him with question to somewhat shy and hesitant girl.
Exelirus then let out a deep sigh before saying, "I just felt it".
"What? That's not a good enough reason", said Alana, shocked and a bit annoyed by his response.
"If it's good enough for you, it's good enough for me", said Exelirus with a playfully cunning smile.
Alana, her annoyance morphing in to that of rage as she saw the smile on his face hit his shoulder.
"Ouch, what are you made of concert", said Alana regretting her decision to hit Exelirus as her hand now ached with pain.
"I think you just dislocated it", said Alana as she looked at her aching hand, seeing her a bone shift within it.
"Sorry about, I'm a bit thick skinned", said Exelirus jokingly while scratching the back of his head.
"The same can be said about your skull", retorted Alana with an annoyed glare.
"Here, let me take a look at it. I'm sure it's not as bad as it looks", offered Exelirus.
Alana, though a bit hesitant to give hand at first, looked at those crystal blue eyes of his and the playful smile on his face before sigh and thinking to herself, 'What's the worse that could happen, it's already broken'
She then placed her hand on top of his and upon doing so she felt a small racing through her palm startling her a little.
"You okay?" asked Exelirus, noticing the flustered look on her face.
"I'm fine *snap*" She felt a brief sharp pain raced through her dislocated arm, lasting for less than a few brief seconds and then it was gone. She then looked at her arm, the dislocated bone was now lodged perfectly in place.
"See, I told you it wasn't that bad", said Exelirus with a playful smile.
"How did you…" Alana words were cut short by the sounds of some entering through the school.
Exelirus's gaze then shifted to the person with a brilliant bright smile on his face.
"Daniela", before rushing straight for her with a strong enough resistance to stop him from using his speed and just simply ran to her and embrace her in a tight hug.
"Careful kiddo, I've got a few things in there that are definitely broken", said Daniela wincing a little in pain upon receiving the impact of Exelirus embrace.
Exelirus then let go of her. Looking at her up close he could see the sores and bruise she tried covering up with her clothes, and from the way she stood he could tell she was using everything she had just to stay on both her feet.
"How's your first a day at school?" Daniela asked weakly while placing a palm on his cheek.
"Fine", said Exelirus with a weak smile.
"Good, come on. Let get out of here", said Daniela with a bright before ruffling up Exelirus's hair a little.
"Hey, stop that", Exelirus protested causing Daniela to giggle a little and nodded her before stopping ruffling up his hair.
Alana just watched the wholesome exchange between the two with a sense of sadness and a light bit of envy in her heart before bowing down her head and letting out a tired sigh.
"Hey, Alana", she heard Exelirus call out Alana causing her to raise her head back up.
"Thanks for helping me with my homework", Exelirus spoke with a warm smile on his face before leaving with Daniela.
Alana upon hearing what Exelirus said watched as he left before slight smile formed on her face as she wondered to herself just what on earth was up with that strange kid.
