Chapter 18 - You've never been alone

Exelirus slowly opened up his eyes and found himself in a meadow, surrounded by beautiful trees, fields filled flowers of all kinds with the wind blowing elegantly around him. Exelirus then took a deep breath, feeling the elegant breeze blow around him and as it did he felt a calming wave flow through him. He then heard a beautiful melody from the surrounding meadow blow to ears through the wind, whispering a tone he couldn't quite make out but yet hearing it brought ease and peace to his heart. Exelirus wanted to hear of that harmonic tone, so he decide journey deeper in to the meadow, allowing his ears to guide through, following the sounds of the melodic harmony, taking the first and then and another and another. And with each step following the melody, the harmonic tone grew louder and much more elegant to his ears, which Exelirus even more eager to hear more of it. So he increased his, from a simple step, to a sprint then a dash and before long, he was racing the through the flower filled fields, moving faster than the elegant breeze blowing behind with trail of blue sparks at his back.

Exelirus, as he ran through the fields, felt something deep within, a sensation he thought he would never ever be able to feel again. Exelirus then looked ahead and the three familiar silhouettes ahead, dashing and racing through the fields, moving just as fast as him. Exelirus, looking ahead of him and seeing the silhouettes, thought to himself that this was his chance, moving at the speed they were currently at, all he had to do was increase his speed ever so slightly and he would be with them, his family but then *sigh*… Exelirus heard the melody calling out to him once more, this time singing so loudly that it could be heard all over the meadow. Exelirus could feel it calling out him, wanting him to chase after it but if he did would mean giving up and what he had already lost but yarned for the most. Looking ahead once more, to the three silhouettes ahead of him and increasing his speed just enough to make it to one of the silhouettes, Exelirus then turned his head to look it and as it did so the scarlet silhouette began to take a ghost transparent but yet familiar form.

Exelirus then shed a tear, recognizing the form the silhouette took upon seeing the red hair on it head.

"Exelirus", the ghostly voice of Sonikro spoke as he turned his head to face his little blue haired brother.

"Sonikro", Exelirus spoke with teary eyes upon seeing his brother's face and hearing his voice once again.

Sonikro's ghosts then smile at him before moving closer to him and ruffling up his hair little, a gesture that made Exelirus smile a little while more tears rained down through his eyes.

Sonikro then looked at his teary eyed brother with warm smile still plastered on his face before saying, "Run", and jetting off with a sonic boom along with the other two silhouettes.

Exelirus, upon hearing his brother's words, understood what he was trying to say so he wiped away his and tried his very best to muster all the he could before taking a deep in a breath, closing his eyes shut and listened to melody. And as he ran with his ear wide open the words the melody sang;

"I know you're scared,

Frightened by the dark,

And all the horrors that lay within,

But little one,

There's no need to cry,

For you are not alone,

I will stand by you,

Holding your hand,

Guiding you through the darkest of nights,

Oh little one,

You're not alone,

The night won't last,

The sun will rise,

And light will come to cast the darkness away,

And when it does,

You will see,

My little one,

You've never been alone,

More tears flowed out of Exelirus's shut eyes, recognizing the harmonic and angel voice of the melody that eased his aching heart and brought peace to his tormented soul. Exelirus then took a deep breath before opening up his eyes with them glowing with radiant blue spark. Exelirus then, with a loud boom like thunder before the storm, raced through the meadow, zooming past the trees and fields, guided solely by the melody that surrounded the air around him.

Exelirus ran with all his might and strength, and as he did so, the felt the sensation once more, this time more intensely then before, like a rush, pushing to faster and further beyond. This was a feeling he thought he had lost after along with Kinex, his home and family. A feeling that made him want to run, not out of fear or because was being chased but because he would. It was a feeling that freed and unshackled the fear, dread, sorrow and pain the filled heart and made his feet feel heavy whenever he tried to raise them up to run but now, his free and his body felt light than it had ever felt before. Exelirus then let out a loud yell with a smile on his face.

Exelirus then spotted the silhouettes ahead of him once more. He, moving as fast as was, had managed to catch up with them and now that he moving closer with each and every step he took, Exelirus couldn't help but let out a deep sigh, knowing what he had to do. So, taking in another deep breath, Exelirus braced himself and then summoned all the strength and courage he could muster before jetting off, moving at speeds greater than he had ever moved before and blitzing past all three of the silhouettes. Sonikro, spotting then blue streak that was his little brother, jetting past him and the other three silhouettes, couldn't help but a little as he watched him run before him and the other silhouettes fade away.

Exelirus, driven by the overwhelming that had taken over his entire body, ran and ran with everything he had. Exelirus knew that was pushing him to go that far, run with all his might, racing past all the pain, sorrow, and loss of his past, was no ordinary. It was a feeling, joy, happiness, and peace, a feeling that him know that Kinex, his home, and family maybe gone but he was still alive, a living breathing piece of his home, his people, his family, they were all still alive with him, taking each and every step forward with him. That feeling made him realize that as long and as he was still breath and could dash and run, Kinex, his people, and family would be right beside because, he was not alone.

Exelirus then looked ahead and found the source of the melody. It was a familiar house on of a hill. Exelirus then stopped when he reached the house front door. Staring at it and feeling a strange mix of unfamiliarity and familiarity coming from the door. Like entrance new world he had never seen before but at the very same time, he knew it was he was home.

Exelirus then stretch out his hand to grab hold of the door's handle, twisted it and then opened it up before stepping in to world that was alien to him but was willing to give him a second chance, and above all else, a feeling that he thought he had lost along with Kinex, hope.
