For the sake of my and your time, I'll make the introduction sweet and short.
I'm kelvin, I had recently gotten promoted and was celebrating the news with my roommate, Ken, my best friend since childhood and my roommate.
We had been living in the same house for about 4 years and to be told, I consider him as my best friend.
Because in front of me is a very dense forest with trees taller than our house. I had gotten pretty wasted during the celebration and made my somewhat drunk friend carry me.. but, there's no way my friend would accidentally carry me to the middle of a dense forest instead of my room.
In fact I have never seen such a dense tree that is also this tall in my locality and I don't believe that my friend somehow managed to accidentally take to a dense forest out of my locality.
So the conclusion I have formed is that I have transmigrated into another world.
Normally you think I would be excited, but I have a bad feeling about this. Normally the Mc would be a dense boy who is in high school and gets super overpowered powers and is happy to be isekai into the new world because his past life was trash.
Then they would be a loser that somehow manages to kill a human with no guilt but is softer than your grandma.
...…..yeah..I'm probably in deep shit. Why? Because I was transmigrated into another world with my friend. I'm 23 years old and also quite happy with my life back home and in fact I just want to go home and just let my dog. Also didn't see truck-kun or train-kun at all, is not too dense and has a tiny bit of romantic experience..just a bit and definitely not an expert and is definitely not soft-hearted….ok the last point is a bit debatable but the other points are definitely true….yeah they must be true
So what am I trying to say? I think this scenario is similar to stereotypes like re:zero. 'Difficult'
Well I'm sure It's not the same as re:zero but I'm sure that this is going to be a difficult journey
Well after that brief monologue, my friend quickly made me stand up by hitting my stomach with a WWE style take down.
The pain was lingering but I managed to keep myself together and moved on.
"Hey get a hold of yourself. I don't wanna keep you if you are a burden you know?"
"Hey don't say that casually after hitting me hard on the stomach!"
"Well…I think it was mostly your fault for daydreaming."
"That makes no sense!"
"Hahahaha"
Well I quickly try to ignore his laughter as I know I will just waste time trying to understand him.
Well I think it's a good idea to try and see if we have a stat system or something because that will confirm my Re:zero theory.
"Menu" I said out loud
Suddenly a menu appeared in front of me.
My friend was not even a bit surprised by this and I even made a theory that he couldn't see the menu because of how expressionless he was.
"Took you long enough to figure out the menu, anyway your menu looks about the same as mine in terms of size and colour. Let me know if you have any overpowered skills"
Well that just debunked my theory.
Anyways I put my focus on the menu and see my stats
[Name: Kelvin Milan]
[Age:27]
[Race:human]
[Magic capacity: not accurately measurable]
[Title:none]
[Unique abilities: Mana god]
[Abilities: passive healing(rare)]
Huh? This is weird. Why are there no stats like strength, agility, etc?
Also what's the difference between unique abilities and abilities. I can make a few speculations but all of them are just simply possibilities.
Well either way I'm quite lucky aren't I? I have an ability literally called mana god. It seems like a cheat skill doesn't it? Well it does to me.
"I see…We are fucked"
Huh? What did he just say..?
"What do you mea-"
Suddenly I was pulled by my friend by the collar of my shirt.
"Hey what did you do that for.."
An arrow landed where I was standing originally and pierced a tree.
If that had hit me, I would have died…
That realisation made a cold sweat fall.
"Hey get ready to run"
"O-okay"
I said as I just started sprinting as fast as I could with him following me just behind.
"By the way, what's chasing us?" I say while running even faster.
"Goblins, probably" he casually said as he matched my pace.
According to a normal Isekai fantasy, goblins would be no problem but since our situation is not normal at all, I suspect that the goblins are like the goblins from goblin slayer. Of course My guess is probably wrong but I'll stick with this guess because it's always better to assume the worst than the best in this type of situation.
"Well keep up the pace or we'll be good as dead." He said as he jumped over a fallen tree blocking our way
How is he so calm? Well I guess he's always been that way but it's still quite annoying. He's calm and chilling while I'm here sweating and literally feeling like I'm dying.
I thought as I followed him. Jumping over the fallen tree just like he did.
At this pace we'll run out of energy within 1-2 mins. I hope he has a plan
"Don't worry about it. I do have a plan. I just need you to trust me."
"Hey stop casually reading my thoughts!"
Well I always trusted my friend when he says those things and it always ends up being perfectly fine so I feel a little bit at ease.
But seriously My leg is about to give up!
As I was starting to gasp for my breath I saw the dense forest coming to a sudden stop.
There I saw a cliff. What a second, a cliff!? What the hell is bro's plan!?
"Bro I don't wanna do a double sucide with you so you better do something else!"
"Just trust me. I'll make sure we live. Just trust me like how you always do."
"Well then at least tell me the plan"
"Well as we jump off the cliff you have to hold me tight."
"Wait We're jumping off the cliff!?"
"Hold my back with your dear life"
He said as he jumped off the cliff with me jumping at almost the same time as him. I grabbed him clinging onto his back with my dear life. As we slowly sped up, I began to pray for a better next life and then I saw the floor not even 10 inches below us.
9 metre
8 metre
7 metre
6 metre
5 metre
I closed my eyes as the ground came closer and closer.
"…"
When I had opened my eyes, I realised that we safely landed on the ground without even a scratch.
"Hey could you get off my back now?"
"A-Ah right"
I said as I got off his back quite confused about the current situation
"Ahh my back! It hurts, You're quite heavy."
"I don't even weigh that much! Either way, what did you do just now?"
"I used my unique ability"
"Huh?"
"My unique ability is the ability to control the speed of my fall."he said as he started to stretch his back
"I assumed that the ability will affect anything that is touching me or anything I'm touching but also guessed that once I let go they will start t fall at normal pace but then I realised that it doesn't work on anyone besides me, I thought that if I was holding a rock, the rock had to match my falling speed when falling down or else that would literally cancel my ability"
"I tested that theory while jumping over the fallen tree, my clothes would have cancelled my ability and I would have fallen at normal speed but it didn't so logically if I were to have something on my back, like for Example A bag or a person, they must match my changed falling speed for the ability to work"
"I temporarily activated my ability to fall around 20% faster and it only lasted for 2-3 secs., it was enough for me to reach that conclusion,"he continued.
Well I'm a bit impressed at his ability to think rationally even when running for your dear life.
It's still weird how he managed to find the cliff though.
"Well either way we should find our situation first, since you explained your ability, I'll explain mine."
"Fancy," he said with an exaggerated expression.
"Well the ability is called mana god so you can pretty much guess what it does"
"Sounds like those abilities that the OP MC always gets in those trash Isekai mangas."
"Yep, pretty much"
"Anyways, any clues?" I said as I decided to sit down, being quite tired from that chase sequence.
"Only a few conjectures."
"I see.."
"Hey man, don't be disappointed. I'll think a way out here in no time"
"Ok"
Well I am happy that I have a reliable friend in this situation. But It'll probably take us a while to even spot where a city is...…..
Ok what the actual FUCK!
I expected it to take at least 2-3 days to spot a city and 5-6 days to reach it but how the hell did we already spot it?
To explain the situation, My bro had just walked for 1 hour and then suddenly climbed a tree and said, "I think we can see a kingdom from here."
I guess I'm a bit thankful for our luck…still feels weird though.
But even if we saw the kingdom, we could just barely see it and it would take at least 2-3 days to reach it but it's definitely better than trying to find a kingdom without any clue.
"Hope you get used to this place."
"Took the words right out of my mouth"
A smirk appeared from my bro's mouth after I said that.
-
The two friends embarked on their journey to the kingdom, being careful about any creatures.
The forest was filled with fruits, plants, trees and animals they have never seen.
It was a difficult for them to pick fruits when its was hard to differentiate between edible and non-edible but thankfully they managed to find a few berries that were not poisonous which they figured out using the good old method of rubbing the berry in their arm and waiting and rubbing it in their tongue if nothing happened and then finally confirming that the berry bush is not possible if nothing happens.
'The berry hardly fills up our stomach though' kelvin thought
The two friend kept moving and moving, being careful of their surroundings, when suddenly they started to vaguely hear some noise.
Ken slowly started to approach the noise and after taking around 7-10 steps, he quickly recognised the sound. He immediately started running towards the area where the sound was coming from with kelvin following behind him.
After a minute of them running, they finally reached the place where the sound was coming from.
It was a running river.
They quickly drank their fill cleansing their thirst before they continued on to their journey.
They walked and walked and as the night started to slip in, they made a small fire and a temporary shelter.
They both came to an agreement to have a person look out for the night and change shift every 2 hours.
They night was quiet.
During the night, the two friends discovered a new thing about this world.
They were 3 moons.
The moons themselves looked smaller than the one in their old world.
Whether the moon was actually smaller in size or that the moon just looked smaller because it was further away from the earth compared to their old world would became a heated debate between the two friends in the early morning of the next day.
They were walking and taking rest as usual when during one of the breaks, a weird feeling wa felt by birth friends.
Kelvin just had a gut feeling about it and Ken felt that things were more unusual then before through his observation.
Suddenly a arrow came towards their direction which Ken skilfully dogged.
It was the same type of arrow that was shot towards them when they first came into this world.
'Why did they attack us?'
'Who are they'
'What are they'
These types of questions were useless to ponder over in this type of situation.
This was a truth that both of them knew.
They looked at each other in each other's eyes and they both came to the same conclusion.
'We have to run'
They both began sprinting.
Whether they chose fight or flight, this would be the best choice.
Their terrain was too disadvantageous for them to even stand a chance at winning.
Running and running, they saw a dark figure.
The figure seemed to be similar to an Orc and it was quickly approaching them,
The two looked each other in the eye again, trying to communicate.
And after just a single second, they both agreed to a plan their collective made in that split second.
The two friends started to split up. Ken going right and Kelvin going left.
The orc chased Ken as he was closer and slower than Kelvin but little did they know that it was just a calculated move.
Ken had intentionally lowered his speed to be slower than Kelvin, so that the orc would start chasing him.
The orc quickly caught up to Ken, yet Ken still didn't increase his pace.
As the orc was about to reach Ken, the orc started to wail a decently large wooden branch as Ken which just barely couldn't reach him.
But swinging that branch made the orc's balance not too stable and even left him more open.
Ken saw this opportunity and didn't let it pass.
Ken jumped in the and kicked the orc right in the face with a flying kick with both of his legs
The orc took the attack head on and fell to the floor standing up a few seconds after that attack.
As the orc swinged at Ken, a sharp object suddenly pierced through the ear, reaching up to his brain and killing the orc.
The sharp object was a small thin piece of wood that had an extremely sharp tip.
It was crafted by Ken last night, just in case we couldn't damage an enemy with our attacks, so it was created to directly attack the enemy's weakness.
'The brain'
The reason why the orc never noticed Kelvin approaching him was due to him being too focused on Ken because the orc was closer to him.
The orc was not able to sense Kelvin near him as his ears were probably still ringing from that attack.
It was all a calculated move.
Kelvin after separating from Ken, started to head his direction after a few seconds and soon found the orc allowing them to execute the plan and the orc literally
But as they were panting on the ground from all the sprinting, an arrow suddenly hit Kelvin's right shoulder
'Shit! The archer caught up too fast' Kelvin thought as he tried to run away but sadly due his injury, the pain was limiting him from focusing on his breathing, tiring him quickly.
Kevin soon lost balance and fell on the floor and as he was about to get shot by arrows, he was grabbed by Ken and he started to sprint carrying kelvin on his back
Ken started to sprint with all his strength. He sprinted as fast as he could.
Maybe due to adrenaline or through his will, he was managing to outrun the range of the arrows.
Though his body was slowly giving up.
His body was sweating like a water fountain. His legs felt like bricks and his vision was getting blurry, as they were starting to escape, Ken's body tripped, they both started to roll down downhill.
Thankfully Kelvin managed to recover enough strength to pull out the arrow embedded in his right shoulder due to his ability 'passive healing' allowing him to recover his strength quickly, but not even after 5 secs after he took out the arrow from his shoulder, Ken's body fell and he too started rolling downhill.
Both of them managed to hold on to the tree to stop their fall but Kelvin's injury had gotten worse and Ken's body was at its breaking point.
-
It hurts…It fucking hurts!
The pain in my right shoulder is numbing my ability to focus.
I'm only holding on to the pain due to my ability and anderline.
I'm tired…I'm just tired, My legs feel numb.
My lips feel dry and wet at the same time.
My lips probably feel wet due to my lips bleeding. I feel like I'm dying and even though I don't want to
"I gotta get my shit together"
Kelvin's eyes grew more focused. It was filled with burning compassion.
Kelvin knew he had to try to somehow use magic.
So he did what he hadn't done in a while.
'Use his mental abilities to their limits'
His Aura was filled with malice as he started to concentrate and recall all the novels he read. He tried to remember all the methods that the protagonist utilised to use magic
He went through multiple options and he went with the one that was most possible.
He took a deep breath, he tried to feel anything around him but he could only feel the air better. He couldn't feel any mana particles in the air so he just simply tried to use mana inside his body.
He made his breath rapid on purpose and started to make his heart beat faster and faster till he could feel something weird about his blood.
He waited patiently, then suddenly he felt something a bit different and he pointed one of his arms uphill as he dashed to Ken who had basically lost his consciousness. He then put all his belief, his trust he had for his friend, the hate he felt seeing his enemies harm his best friend, the anger he felt from being injured, he even put the malice he felt and matched from the little pieces of shit.
He put every bit of emotion and focus into an attack and suddenly a large explosion occurred and jumped carrying his friend in his arm.
The explosion boosted their speed and increased the distance they travelled.
He then tried his best to wake up Ken.
Ken who almost became unconscious understood the situation and with Kevin holding his back, started to use his ability to slow their fall to minimise the damage they would receive from the fall
They both landed on the ground safely and were extremely close to the city.
To their luck, a few adventures saw them and Ken soon passed out from exhaustion.
Kevin too closed his eyes and was also tired from all the bullshit they went through.
Little did they know that this was just the beginning of their troublesome journey in this new world.
