Chapter 2 - The beginning-II(draft)

A memory flashed before me.

A memory of me in school.

I would often get criticised for my opinions by others.

It got to the point where people started to bully me just because our opinions were different.

Thankfully they never went too far with the bullying.

The worst they would do was steal my money sometimes and even then they wouldn't steal all of it. But I was young back then.

I would get angry at myself for letting them bully me, I would get angry at how they criticised me just for having a different opinion.

I felt isolated even though I had a family and a few friends to talk to, I felt terrible even though they didn't cause me any actual pain or distress.

I probably just hold a grudge against them for criticising me, though that doesn't justify what I did to them…I am truly sorry…I'm sorry that I snapped and did all the horrible things I did to you guys back then…

As the dream continued, everything started to slowly fade away as I soon opened my eyes.

I tried to stand up, but I reflexively grabbed my right shoulder due to the pain.

"<please rest for a while, your right hand was bruised and your shoulder was almost completely unusable.>"

The voice came from a woman. The voice sounded rough yet soft, low pitched but still high pitched enough to think it was a woman.

She spoke in a language I have never heard of before and couldn't even understand a single thing she said.

"<You're only able to use that shoulder due to your surprisingly fast and unnatural recovery rate, which was comparable to getting healed by low level healing magic continuously>"

I looked near my left side and there she was.

She wore a black coat that paired nicely with the Top hat she wore.

She wore black pants that looked high quality and was holding a smoking pipe.

Her face had a huge scar that started from near the chin and was almost touching her eyes, yet her face was beautiful and she had a very strong aura around her that left people dazzled by her appearance.

Even though I knew it was futile due to the language barrier, I tried to communicate with her, "Could you tell us where we are?"

"<Your language…it's not a language I recognise…>"

She seemed to be in deep thought for a few seconds before finally gathering mana from her fingers.

Suddenly the mana turned into a small glowing yellow ball of energy.

She then slit the ball into two smaller ones before they both went to where her and Kelvin's heart were.

She put down her smoking pipe and spoke up again, "Can you now understand what I'm saying?"

I was momentarily taken back before I composed myself and asked her a question, "what did you just do?"

"I gathered my mana and focused it into a small ball of energy, then I used more mana to remove the Impurity of any mana and then finally used my positive emotions as a base to give it life to make a temporary Holy Spirit that I then put inside each of our body, effectively translating what ever we said to each other"

That method is probably a method that requires extensive skill and she just did it casually.

Just who the hell is she?

The woman suddenly became more serious and asked, "Who the hell are you? You have the mana capacity comparable to Demi gods or even heavenly demons, yet you aren't skilled with it and you also speak a language I have never heard about"

Her sudden seriousness startled me and as I was trying to put my words together she suddenly interjected, "I'm fine with you concealing some information about your personal life or information that you feel insecure about sharing but please do explain how you came into this country and why you were severely injured and also give me some information that allows me to confirm that you aren't a human and not another being."

After she said that, I started to explain how we suddenly woke up and were attacked by an arrow and how we escaped the attack using my friend Ken's ability.

Then to begin to explain how we were struggling in the forest due to our lack of information about the ecosystem and how an orc carrying a large branch attacked us and how he was supported by what we assumed to be goblins using bows or crossbows and how we managed to barely survive.

Finally to prove that I was a human, I started to tell her a story that my mother once told me about. It was a story about a hero saving the world.

Though it was not a great way of proving my innocence, I tried my best to share that I experienced feelings and experiences like a human in the past to prove that I was a human. Even though I admit that it was an unreliable alibi, The woman decided to temporarily accept my story as an alibi for now.

She also probably agreed to my alibi due to her sensing that my mana was not corrupted or something like that I guess.

The only thing she argued about was the orc and goblins attacking us.

She had said seriously at that time, "That shouldn't be possible"

A visualabe shock was present on my face as I asked, "Why?!"

"Because of you mana"

"My mana?"

I was even more puzzled by her answer and as I was about to inquire about that, she interrupted me before I even got the chance to ask her.

"You have such a large mana pool that whenever someone tries to 'magic sense' or even anything that allows you to sense magic near you, will literally nit function due to your vast amount of mana overloading the mana sense."

She put her top hat down in the table and continued, "You mana is so vast that it's almost impossible to measure the exact amount of it, In fact if I were to try and measure your total amount of mana ability with to my best ability, I'll probably pass out before I could finish measuring even half of your mana and you're telling me that monsters like goblins and orcs, that have a good instincts and avoid people or monsters that ar ego string approached you who had more than a 1000 times more mana than you!?"

I felt a bit shocked by this revelation but I gathered my composure and spoke, "It's the truth though. You can ask my friend the same question after he make up and I can assure that his answer  will be similar to mine."

The woman fell silent after this, then after a few more seconds, she broke the silence.

"Would you kindly tell me how the orc looked and how it behaved?"

Hearing this question, I started to recall my memories of the event and after a minute of thinking, I answered, " The orc looked to be around 6ft 5 and its skin was green, and wore a thin cloth near its reproductive parts."

After staying silent for a few seconds to recollect my thoughts I continued, "The orc's behaviour was just a bit odd…to say the least. His eyes made him seem like he was unconscious and had no skill and was full of holes to attack with, it seemed to not feel any pain and also didn't have any rational decision as it only focused on attacking on who was closer no matter how terrible the terrain was. It also stood up quickly after taking a full power jump kick directly to the face while his guard was down but it died very easily due to our combined abilities."

I hadn't told a single lie yet. The orc was chasing Ken who was running in an environment where he could run better while the orc almost tripped over a few Times.

"It was weird to me how it managed to quickly recover from that attack yet couldn't even sense me coming behind him as I was sure that I wasn't even hiding my tracks." I continued

The woman put her hands on her chin as she began to think about this carefully.

She remained focused on her thoughts for a few minutes and then finally spoke, "Just as I thought..It's the work of those fucking crazy and disgraceful trash!!!"

Her gaze became more furious and malice surrounded her.

The malice around her was strong and was even

comparable to bloodlust.

She then suddenly looked at me as if she remembered my presence and calmed herself down

The malice around her started to disappear and she spoke,

"Sorry for the inappropriate behaviour"

"It's no big deal"

"Dalia Magedy"

"Huh?"

"Dalia Magedy, it's my name"

I was a bit taken aback by the sudden introduction but I remembered to have proper manners so I told her, "my name's Kelvin. Kelvin Milan, Nice to meet you."

I reached out my hand for a handshake as I finished introducing myself.

She smiled a bit before she accepted my handshake.

"You're an interesting guy you know"

"Really?"

"Yes, your quite unique"

I was a bit flustered by This but I quickly realised something and asked her a question, "why is my Friend still not awake?"

She picked up her hat before she spoke, "It's because your recovery rate is insanely high so it looks like your friend is not doing well but in fact he's recovering well"

"Truth to be told it's been hardly been half a day since we found you" she continued

That made me a bit shocked but I somewhat understood that from my ability "passive healing" but it's still a bit shocking to hear that you know.

As I was deep in my thoughts, I heard a door open and close.

It seemed like Daila had left the room.

Well I should use this opportunity to think deeply about my situation.

Well I have a very important question on my mind…isn't this a bit too fast-paced?

It would make some sense if we had an ability like return by death or something but we didn't have that and yet almost died.

There was also the fact that the orc attacking us was an unnatural act.

Even If it was all orchestrated, just why would they go through that much effort to kill us?

Why not just attack us directly or use stronger monsters?

I thought and thought as laid in my bed.

Now that I think about it, isn't this place quite fancy?

She must be quite rich and have a good influence.

The bed has no springs but still is comparable to the high quality beds in the modern world.

The room we are in is quite spacious too. The wall is painted in a nice white colour which matches with the black wooden floor.

The light bulb is also a good source of light.

Wait a second… a light bulb in a fantasy setting!?

No wait If I think about it, The 1900's also had some prototype designs of light bulbs.

They probably have some devices that are comparable to modern technology but still fall behind the current age in my old world probably due to the variable of something called 'Magic.'

They probably never researched a lot of sectors due to magic so they are probably quite underdeveloped in almost all aspects of technology compared to modern technology but it's simply a conjecture for now.

Looking at my left side, I saw a bed near the corner where a man was resting bandaged.

It was my friend Ken…He seemed to have been treated and bandaged well so he'll probably wake up by tomorrow.

Why did she decide to help us?

Probably due to our sudden appearance and state and also probably due to my large amount of mana capacity.

Hopefully we will embark on this journey at a steady pace.

I really do hope nothing crazy happens.

I really really just want to think that this adventure will be similar to the ones you would often see in your normal Isekai or transmigration novels and mangas.

The one where the Mc gets a harem and doesn't have many difficulties in his journey and lives a good life.

But in the end I just can't see that happening.

The weird circumstances around our transmigration, the mysterious nature of the monsters that attacked us.

The world is also not the fantasy world you would see in those fantasy novels and mangas, due to it being quite developed in some sectors compared to the normal fantasy world.

I should properly sleep for a bit more to recover well.

I should request Dalia to teach me magic once I wake up.

The night had started to approach which made me want to sleep even more so I decided to rest for the night and think about the situation later.

-

The sun was rising the next day, the city looked specifically beautiful that day and Kelvin who woke up early saw this beautiful view from a window in his room.

The world looked more similar to the 1900 hundreds but had a bit of a modern feel.

Large magical ships would occasionally fly over the place which came into view from the window of the two friends' rooms.

Kelvin decided to leave the room to get some fresh air. As he went out of the room, he saw a woman approaching the room he was in.

It was Delia who had decided to check up on them.

Seeing Kelvin, Delia started to wave her hands and he too did the same.

The woman soon enough stood in front of Kelvin and said in a cheerful tone, "You're up early aren't you?"

"Yep, couldn't sleep for a long time since I was feeling too energised so I decided to get some fresh air to relax."

"I see, I see."

"Well either ways can you accompany me or send someone to accompany me outside since I don't really know my way around"

I said, my hands rubbing the back of my neck.

Dalia looked at his face as she smiled and said, "sure why not. I'll send a person to act as your guide so you can just enjoy yourself."

After a while, I stood outside and went for a walk with the guide that Daila provided me.

I wore a tight-waisted, full-chested, skirted coat with a generous sleeve narrowing at the wrist to a buttoned cuff which paired nicely with the top hat I was wearing.

It was similar to the dress men used to wear in the 1900's but it felt and looked less tight and long.

Though I felt that this type of dress was a bit excessive when I was going for a walk, she insisted on me wearing this dress so I wouldn't stand out even though it feels like I stand out more.

The sun began to rise, the sunlight shining in such a way that it allowed you to see the true beauty of the street.

There were not many people considering the fact that it was quite early in the morning.

Most shops were closed and would probably be opened later.

The sky was clear of almost any clouds and the birds were chirping and singing which brought a sense of calmness to your body.

The air felt extra crispy and fresh which brought another sense of peace in my mind.

Sadly there were no coffee shops that were open as of currently so I couldn't fully enjoy the early hours.

I should ask my tour guide just in case…

I faced my tour guide.

It was a man who had brownish skin that paired well with his suit and his elegant black hair.

He looks like the type of guy that has ladies falling in love with him left and right.

I looked at him with a smile and asked him a genuine question, "Is there any coffee cafe open at this time?"

The man slowed his pace for a bit and went into a deep thought.

He then said pointing in a direction, "there should be a coffee shop right down the place I'm pointing at, the cafe mainly opens up the cafe early to serve some coffee to people who have to go to work early."

Hearing that brought me a piece of mind and I requested my tour to buy me a cup of coffee which he agreed to without any hesitation.

We walked down the road and started to slowly approach the cafe.

We soon entered the cafe and sat down near the window.

I decided to order the day's special coffee with a side of cookies.

The tour guide ordered nothing and just stayed silent the entire time.

The only time he talked was when he told the waiter my order.

Since I have the mini spirit in my body, I can understand their language but if the person doesn't have the mini spirit in their body, they can't understand my language so the tour told the waitress my order.

The tour guide can also understand my language because Daila decided to put the mini spirit in his body.

Sadly this spirit only lasts for about 2 days so I have to make sure to ask Daila to replenish them.

But the silence is just way too awkward!

Getting tired of the awkward silence, I decided to quickly break the silence no matter what.

"What's your name?" I said in a polite tone

He looked at me with an emotionless face and said, "Just call me Odios."

That's a pretty nice name that goes well with his nice appearance.

Looking at him, I felt a sense of familiarity…I wasn't sure what it was but…it felt really familiar.

"What's your favourite colour?" I asked genuinely curious.

"Brown" he said in an instant.

"Brown? That's interesting."

"Is that really that interesting?"

"Yes. I have never met someone whose favourite colour is brown."

He put his hand on his chin and seemed to think a bit deeply.

But he was taken out of his thoughts when our drinks came.

Today's special was a black coffee that had less caffeine in it.

It used a type of coffee bean that I have never tasted in my life.

The coffee felt calming and it didn't taste bitter or even too sweet. It was a coffee that balanced the sweetness, the bitterness and the slight acidity perfectly.

This might be my favourite coffee coming right behind the coffee my bro Ken makes once in a blue.

I looked over to see what Odios had ordered and it seems like he ordered a black coffee with a few cookies and chocolate.

Speaking of cookies, the cookies they served me were beautifully baked.

It perfectly complements the coffee I am drinking.

This is the best cafe I have ever gone to in my entire life, no doubt about it.

It seems like Mr.Guide is also enjoying the drink although it's difficult to see.

His expression barely changes at all, making it difficult to see his expression.

I suppose he has problems expressing himself and of them gets misunderstood. Poor guy, I feel a little bad for him.

As I drank my coffee, I saw people starting to enter the cafe continuously.

Most people whose jobs probably start early probably all start at a similar time so it makes sense that the cafe gets filled at a very specific period of time.

Well I should understand this world well as I'll probably be staying here for some time.

I soon finished my coffee and stood up.

Mr.guide also stood up as he had also finished his drink and paid for us as I started to walk towards the door.

He soon caught up and walked alongside with me as I had finished my morning walk.

This morning walk allowed me to better understand the setting of this world as well as helping me calm my mind.

The infrastructure in this world seems to be a mix of the usual nobility infrastructure you would see in most fantasy worlds with the infrastructure similar to England in the 1900's mixed to it.

This world seems to be equally as advanced to the modern world in food culture as far as I have seen, but I firmly believe that I haven't even seen a bit of what this world has to hold so I shouldn't make too many assumptions for now.

I should focus on the present.

I thought as I soon arrived, I would try the place I have been resting in for the time being.

Now that I look at this form outside, it really looks like Those houses that nobles or viscounts would have those fantasy mangas.

It truly is grand. It looks like a mansion that I just can't help but be surprised by the size of it.

As we entered the building, I went to the room I was resting in and soon took off my uniform and wore more comfortable clothes.

I asked a maid that seemed to have been working in this place, "where is Mrs.Dalia?"

She bowed her head and spoke in an extremely polite tone, "Mrs.Daila should be near the garden enjoying her free time. I would advise you not to disturb her during her time of peace."

"I understand" I responded as I started to head to the garden which was quite difficult and time consuming considering that I don't know where the garden is but eventually I found it.

The garden was extremely large and green and Daila was seen sitting on a chair while enjoying her tea.

Even though I didn't want to disturb her when she's enjoying herself, I had to have courage to make her help me no matter what.

I said as I approached her.

She soon looked at me and simply asked me, "what brings you here young man."

I knelt and politely requested her, "Please teach me magic."
