Gesalt and Ingvald were in the carriage, slowly moving towards the grand capital of Aleza. This was the perfect time for Gesalt to finally ask some questions that have been bugging him for a while now.
Gesalt: So.. Mr, Ragnar, so I have a question, how many affinities are there?
Ingvald: Well, there are 8 affinities, they are Fire & Magma, Water & Ice, Wind & Gas, Earth & Stone, Wood & Plant, Light & Beam, Dark & Void, Lightning & Plasma.
Gesalt: Why is one affinity affecting two things?
Ingvald: Affinities have the ability to evolve through training, they are still the same affinity, but they gain additional powers, Fire affinity evolves into the Magma affinity, but it still retains the fire affinity bonuses with now also gaining affinity in manipulating Magma. The same goes for the rest as well, since you have 3 affinities, you will be able to evolve to Magma Affinity, Beam Affinity and Void affinity.
Gesalt: What does Beam and Void exactly do?
Ingvald: Beam allows you to remotely heal or attack people with light, no longer requiring you to touch them to use it, and Void allows you to forcefully use Dark Spells, which are usually Curse spells, better by sucking in your enemies to you, which will lower the range significantly, there are also Final Spells, which are the strongest spells in the affinity category, which you can only use if you have the right affinity, since you have 3, you can use 3 instead of just one, however, to learn those spells, you need to have reached Veteran Mage rank, they are too powerful to let a Fledgling learn them.
Gesalt: What's your affinity?
Ingvald: Mine? My affinity is Lightning and Plasma, since I am a senser, I already am at Veteran Mage rank, so I learned my Final Spell.
Gesalt: Really? How is it?
Ingvald: Hmmm... can't tell you, not allowed to.
Gesalt pouted and responded: Whaaaaat? Why not?
Ingvald: Because Final Spells are supposed to be secret trump cards, can't tell you because you're not supposed to know.
Gesalt sighed and relented, he knew he had no way to learn about it now, so he let it go.
Gesalt: Well, what's my training going to be like?
Ingvald: Oh, it will be intense magical training, I won't tell you now, I don't want to spoil it, but it will be hard.
Gesalt sighed and let it go.
The days pass by as they settle into a routine, most of the day, they ride in the carriage, during the evenings they stop to cook food for themselves and the carriage driver, and they sometimes stop to use a nearby bush as a bathroom, or to wash in a river when they can, aside from that, it's mostly the same, sit in the carriage, look around to see the landscape, sometimes ask questions, sometimes make a joke, aside from that, it's simply boredom.
As they rode slowly on the road, the carriage suddenly stops.
The carriage driver: Hold on, there's some people up ahead, this is a pretty infamous bandit spot, though I thought that they wouldn't be here because of the current raid on the Megeza Dungeon nearby.
Ingvald looked ahead.
Ingvald: Yeah, that's bandits alright, let's see what they want.
The driver nodded and went forward with the carriage, stopping at the men. There are 7 bandits, all wearing some sort of leather armor, even if they are clearly old and worn out, or outright broken.
The largest out of them all, clearly their leader spoke.
Bandit Leader: If ya want to live, ye better give us all yer carrying, or else...
The Bandit Leader showed a very very large axe, kind of too large for his own good really.
Ingvald sighed, and to out of the carriage.
Ingvald: You really picked the wrong carriage y'know? I won't kill you as I have a young kid with me, and it's best he doesn't see a bunch of grown men get cooked to death, but I will kick your ass here.
The Bandit Leader laughed: You? Beat me? You look like you haven't fought in your life, and that armor, it's so gaudy, but, white leather is expensive, so I'll be sure not to stain it when I kill you for it, hahahah!
Ingvald: Well, I warned you.
In less than a second, Ingvald quickly send the bandit leader flying into a few trees, destroying them, the attack was so fast that it sounded like lightning struck the ground, in the next 5 seconds, Ingvald quickly send away all the bandits with just a few hits, ending this encounter with ease, Ingvald returns to the carriage.
Ingvald: Well, it's done.
Gesalt: WH-What was that? How did you do it?
Ingvald: Well, you're going to be under my tutelage, so I might as well share, though you shouldn't share your abilities with other mages unless you and that mage are supposed to work together, okay?
Gesalt nodded: Got it, no telling anyone about it.
Ingvald: I used a special skill, you see, due to my Lightning affinity, I used the lightning to forcefully pump more blood into my body, and tighten my muscles, using lightning I also propelled myself to go at higher speeds, essentially, by making high power electricity flow into my body, I made myself faster, stronger and I infused any hit I do with pure electricity, they are now zapped and knocked out if you want to know.
Gesalt was in awe, doing things like this was possible? This meant a lot for him, if he could learn or make his own version of this, he could become so much stronger, with some refreshed interest in training, he had a dumb smile on his face.
Ingvald chuckled and got back into the Carriage, the driver nodded, and they started to drive away on the road, there really was no reason to worry after all, Ingvald being a Senser means that he is more than enough for security on the road, a few minutes of wait won't change much about the journey, so the driver was calm and collected.
And so, Gesalt and Ingvald continued on the road, there are still 2 weeks left until Aleza, so right now, the only thing they can do is sit down and wait.
