*Ugh... I shouldn't have done that spell, it's been two weeks since I've done the magical spell, and since then, all I've been doing is seeing doctors left and right, mages left and right, anyone with an opinion on something, I've seen 'em, and they all say the same thing, 'it was just a freak accident, you two got lucky, his mana is too weak to do it, it's a marvel he's alive right now.', if they could just SHUT UP and let me do my magic in peace, I don't care if it was a one time thing, I just want to practice more, since I felt magic... I got addicted to the feeling, I want to do more and more, I want to get better and better, and being dragged around to see mages, scholars and doctors isn't exactly helping me!*
And indeed it wasn't, Gesalt was forced to visit countless people because Sene and Maran couldn't accept that it was a simple accident, or so Gesalt thought.
It was early morning, Gesalt was doing the usual things a 5 year old would, eating, running around the house, and playing outside, when his mother, Sene, calls him inside.
Sene: "Gesalt! Come here for a moment, we need to talk, okay?"
Gesalt: *I wonder what happened?* I'm coming!
Gesalt rushes inside the house, and there was his mother standing next to a strange man, Gesalt thought to himself *Ah great, yet another scholar or mage or doctor or whatever here to tell me what I already heard a thousand times.*
The Man: Hello, I assume you are Gesalt Asardo? My name is Ingveld Ragnar, nice to meet you.
*Who is this dude? Ingveld? What, is he Scandinavian or something? Whatever, better act nice here.*
Gesalt: Hello, Mr Ragnar, yes, I am Gesalt Asardo, uhm... what do you need from me?
Ignveld: Your mother has informed me that you managed to do a spell a few weeks ago, is that true?
Getalt: Y-Yes, I did a Water Shot spell to put out a fire.
Ignveld closes his eyes and nods.
Ignveld: And let me guess, everyone you went to has told you that it was just a freak accident, and that it doesn't mean anything, correct?
Gesalt: *Did Sene tell him? How does he know?* Y-Yes...
Ingveld: Well, Gesalt, I want to tell you that they are wrong, you see, I am one of the 5 Sensers, you likely never heard of us, but a Senser is a rare mage that has the natural ability to not just Sense Magic, but also discern everything about it, a normal person can sense magic, but they can't discern more than if it comes from an unknown person or object, or of it comes from something familiar, meanwhile, a Senser specifically can do exactly that. What I sense in you, young Gesalt, is something called "Early Magical Release", it means that your body is able to release magic from an early age naturally, however, this isn't necessarily good, you need to train your magic while you can, because around your 22nd birthday, your magical growth will forcefully be stopped, essentially, you have 17 years to grow before you aren't able to.
Gesalt remains speechless, he didn't expect this, in-fact, he didn't expect anything from this, meanwhile, Sene has a serious look on her face as Ingveld explains his situation.
*17 years... I have 17 damn years to actually do something with magic? Oh god, I NEED to get going, until it's too late.*
Gesalt: Mr Ingveld... how do I proceed from here? Do I just train every day or something?
Ingveld: Not quite, right now, it is true, while you can use magic early, your body is too weak to consistently do it, you see, I spoke with your father, and he has agreed to start you physical training, you will physically train for one year, after that, you'll do just magic.
Gesalt: I see... by the way, how come you're here anyway? If theres only 5 Sensers, why are you here?
Ingveld is taken aback from this question, but he quickly recovers.
Ignveld: Well, you see, me and your father actually grew up together in the same village, so he called on me a day after you used magic, it just took me 2 weeks to get here.
*So he and the old man are buddies from childhood? Sweet, I know who to bother for magic now.*
Gesalt: I see, so you and daddy are friends... Well, uhm... thank you, Mr Ragnar for telling me.
Ingveld: No worries, I'll be in town for a few days to catch up with Maren, you do well, okay?
With that, Ignveld bids his farewells, and leaves our home, Sene looks serious but also contemplative, she doesn't seem necessarily on board with me training, but she understands why I have to do it, so she can't exactly say no either, meanwhile, I sit there, thinking of what I will need to do to improve.
*17 years, out of those, 1 year is reserved for physical training so I can actually sustain magical training, it's a long while, but I can do it, I know I can, soon, I will show my mettle and I will become strong!*
Sene: Oh, by the gods, what did we get into... I just hope my husband goes easy on Gesalt.
And so, Gesalt Asardo became aware of his condition, a rare, and incurable condition, Early Magical Release, which allows the body to use magic early, at the cost of them being unable to train magic after they reach the age of 22, it is unknown when this started, but one thing is clear, it can only really be detected by Sensers, it was by pure luck that Gesalt's father, Maren, was childhood friends with one of them, from now, we just have to see how his 1 year of physical training will proceed, will he make it through, or will his young child body fail? Only way to find out is to see what happens next.
