6 months have passed since the start of Gesalt's magical training, and he grew exponentially, and it made sense, unlike kids his age, he already was matured in his mind, he could focus up and learn much quicker than a child who had no interest in magic, and so, in 6 months, he learned many more spells, those being Spark Shoot, which shoots a small electrical charge forward from his hands, Flamethrower, which shoots a constant flame from his hands, and most recently, Wind Push, which as the name suggests, he can push wind from his hands, they are all pretty simple spells, but they are the fundamentals of Magic in this world, at least for a beginner, he was now 7 years old, and at this age, it is common to take your child to a Senser and check on that child's magical affinity, and see what they are best suited with, and today was the day for Gesalt to find out, of course, since they know a Senser, they simply called on Ingveld to come and do it, and he will show up in 2 hours.
Gesalt sat in his room, nervous, but excited, after all, he soon will find out his affinity, and he couldn't wait, he really wanted to know the type of magic he should focus on right now, and he was excited. He paced back and forth, and thought to himself.
*Finally, something is happening, these years have been so boring, just practice day in and day out, SOMETHING is happening for once! I can't wait.*
In contrast, Sene was stressing out, she had hoped all her life for her son to not be a mage, to not practice magic, however, she knew she had no right of controlling what he wants for thr future. She thought to herself.
*I don't want this at all... Gesalt, the life of a mage is dangerous, deadly and worst of all, lonely, this isn't the life someone like you should have... but... I can't stop you, I just wish for Ingveld to give you good news if anything.*
Time passed and passed, and soon enough, someone knocked at their front door. Gesalt ran directly at the door, and opened before Sene could even check who it was.
The door opened, and Ingvald was there, with a solemn and serious expression on his face.
Ingvald: Gesalt... hmm, your magic has grown stronger, I can sense it, and seems you did do that physical training I told you to do. Are you ready to find out your alignment?
Gesalt nodded, noticing the serious expression on Ingvald's face: Yes, Mr. Ragnar, I am ready.
Gesalt thought to himself.
*I wonder why Ingvald is so serious today, has something happened?*
Ingvald took a step in, and saluted Sene before turning to Gesalt.
Ingvald: Now, Gesalt, I need you to take this stone, and imbue it with your mana.
Ingvald took a small pure white stone, and handed it to Gesalt, it had a strange rune carved into it.
Gesalt did as he was told, and he pushed in his magic, the rune started to glow a white light, then it changed to red... and then to dark. Ingvald, seeing this, was speechless, this has never happened before clearly, he took the stone from Gesalt without saying anything, and he started to inspect it.
Gesalt: Did something happen?
Ingveld said nothing, as he thought to himself.
*This isn't usual, normally, the rune glows once, and it shows one color, but with Gesalt, it showed 3, White is Healing Magic, Red is Fire and Magma, and Dark is Curse Magic, I've never seen someone nor have I heard of someone who had 3 affinities, it-it could be a mistake,I'll reset the stone, and give it back to him to try again, if it shows up again, I'll give him a new stone, if it still happens... then it must be true.*
Ingvald took the stone, and he forced the magic out with his own magic, he handed the stone back to Gesalt.
Ingvald, firmly said: Do it again.
Gesalt was a bit creeped out, but he nodded, and started to imbue magic into the stone, and like last time, the rune first had a white glow, then a red glow, and at last, a dark glow.
Ingvald took another stone, and gave it to Gesalt after taking back the old stone.
Ingvald, again firmly: Again, Gesalt. Do it again.
Gesalt, very much creeped out, said: Wait, why do we need to do this?
Ingvald responded: Just do it, I'll tell you when we are done.
Gesalt was still creeped out, but Sene's serious glare that kept him from saying no before is right back and in force. Gesalt sighed, and imbued the new stone, the runes yet again glow white, red and at the end, dark. Ingvald gasped, and took the stone.
*It's clear, Gesalt has 3 affinities... what do I even do with this information? He has EMR already, Early Magical Release has limited his time to train his magic, he's already 7, and he has only 15 years left, I don't know if it's enough time for him to do something with this, maybe... maybe if I take him under my tutelage early? That... That could work, yes, yes, but I'll need to convince Sene and Maren, now Maren, while it's not nice to say it, is a pushover, however Sene... Sene is a monster when it comes to negotiations, I need to make a strong case.*
Ingveld sighed and said: Sene, Gesalt, come here for a second, the both of you.
Sene came close, and Gesalt remained in place as he was already infront of Ingvald.
Ingvald: Gesalt, what I'm about to say will change your life forever, are you ready?
Sene already started to glare Ingvald, and Gesalt was starting to get nervous, but he responded anyway.
Gesalt: Y-Yes, I'm ready.
Ingveld took a deep breath, and said: Gesalt, you are the first person who had their stone not glow in 1 color, not glow in 2 colors, but glow in 3. You have 3 affinities.
Sene instantly had a shocked expression, she thought.
*Gesalt... has 3 affinities!? This... this is unheard of, I haven't heard of a person with TWO affinities, let alone THREE? Oh no... what will this mean for my boy? He already has it rough with EMR, now that he has 3 affinities...*
Ingveld continued: Sene, this is an opportunity that Gesalt cannot throw away, I want to ask you to send him for my tutelage early, we originally agreed for him to be taught by me when he became 12, but this is unheard of, I need to research, and he needs to train even harder.
Gesalt, upon hearing of this, remained silent, he was unsure, on one hand, Ingveld was right, he had 3 affinities, he had to at least try and capitalize on them, but on the other hand, he would need to leave his family right now, and go off God knows where.
Sene on the other hand was livid.
Sene: A-Are you insane? Right now? He's only 7! He can't go out in the real world right now, it was a stretch for him to go out with you at the age of 12, but 7!? That's-That's just...
Sene couldn't complete her sentance, as she started to cry and sob, she couldn't bear the image of her only son leaving so early, and getting in danger at this young age, however, Ingveld pushed on.
Ingveld: I know, Sene, I know your concerns, but what else can we do? This is a yet to happen thing in this world, your son could be the key to the Reckoning.
Sene froze at the last phrase, and she spoke, now angry.
Sene: And what would YOU know about the Reckoning? It happens every 10 years, yet you still don't know why or how, that's the only reason Sensers exist, right? To sense where the Reckoning will happen so they can evacuate people. Why would my son be the key to this?
Ingveld nodded, and tried to explain his reasoning.
Ingveld: I know your concerns, and while right now I don't have concrete proof that your son is the key, he still has 3 affinities, something like that can't just happen at random, we need to take any chance we get.
Sene kept sobbing quietly and responded.
Sene: I-I don't care... I just want my son to he safe and alive, I don't have that guarantee with you, Maren might trust you, but I don't yet, I can't just hand you my son.
Ingveld relented: I-I understand, look, Sene, how about this, we wait for Maren to come home, and we all talk about it, okay?
Sene thought for a bit while sobbing, and eventually responded.
Sene: O-Okay... we'll wait for Maren. Just... Just wait here.
And so, the clock was ticking, Gesalt, Ingveld and Sene all waited for Maren to get home so they can discuss Gesalt's possible early departure, will Gesalt leave, or will he stay? We'll see soon enough.
