Chereads / Wanda and claws (HP-X-men FF) / Chapter 11 - chapter 11

Chapter 11 - chapter 11

"How did you stop me?" Emma asked. "Nobody's ever stopped me before." She added in a slightly quieter voice, still in disbelief over the fact that this boy was able to stop her from reading his mind when her own family couldn't.

"I can turn my bones into a special metal," Harry told her. "when that happens you can't read my mind."

"Really?" She asked, raising an eyebrow. Harry took a look around to make sure there were no people watching, all he could see was one security camera but that was behind Emma so he could probably get away with showing her his claws. Harry held up his right fist, making sure to keep Emma's body in-between it and the camera. Bone claws slowly came out of his hand, Emma gasped as she looked at them. Before she could say anything more Harry's claws transformed into metal ones. "Whoa." She breathed as she looked at them.

"You can touch them if you want." Harry offered.

"Really?" She looked at him with a surprised look.

"Yeah." Harry nodded, "just stay still, I don't want the camera to see." Emma looked over her shoulder and saw a camera. She looked back at him and nodded before she slowly and carefully reached out to touch his claw, she gently placed her fingers on it.

"That's so smooth." She whispered. "Can all of your bones turn into metal?" She asked.

"Yep." Harry answered.

"That's amazing." She said just before Harry retracted his claws. "So you have claws and you can change your bones into metal?" She asked.

"Yeah," Harry nodded. "my granddad says I'm stronger than most people as well. Also I heal really fast. What about you?" Harry asked, he watched as her face turned from curious to guarded.

"I don't have to tell you." She said, she realised that that might have come out ruder than she had intended but she wasn't really willing to tell a stranger her powers when she had been keeping them secret from her own family. Her own father didn't even know the full extent of her mind reading yet, she rather wished that he had never found out in the first place. He knew that she could read minds but she was luckily able to convince him that she couldn't always control it and would only be able to do it if someone was standing very close to her. She could only imagine what it would be like if he knew how strong her mind reading was, or if he found out that she could turn her skin into diamonds.

"I told you my powers." Harry pointed out.

"I didn't make you," She replied. "I don't want to tell you all of my powers." She said in a firm voice, she looked at him and for a moment it looked like he was about to argue.

"Fine," He eventually said. Harry himself wasn't too fond of the whole forcing people to reveal what their powers were, it had happened to him, Laura and Jean a few times. "but if you want to get better at the mind reading thing then you should come to Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters." Harry told her.

"I beg your pardon?" She blinked at him.

"It's a school for mutants, I live there with my granddad and my sister, we all near enough have the same powers." Harry explained. "The headmaster can read minds as well, so can Jean, she's my best friend. Though she can move things with her mind as well." Harry added.

"Really?" Emma asked, not yet totally able to keep the interest out of her voice.

"Oh yeah," Harry nodded. "she can even pick me up with her mind." Harry added. "Oh, before I forget, what would you get if you could get a pet?" He asked suddenly.

"What?" Emma blinked at the sudden change in conversation.

"My sister's birthday is coming up and I want to get her a pet, but I don't know what to get her. What would you get if you could have a pet?" Harry asked.

"Well, not a goldfish." She said as she glanced at the fish tanks.

"Yeah, they're not very interesting." Harry agreed with a short nod.

"I would get a cat." Emma said before she started walking over to the cat section with Harry following after her.

"Why cats?" Harry asked as the two young mutants began looking at the various cats.

"Lots of reasons." Emma replied. "First of all they are very smart animals, they clean themselves, they're quiet and don't make too much noise, they do things by themselves so you don't have to look after them as much as other animals, they're easy to potty train, they get rid of all the rats and insects, they cost less than dogs and they're incredibly cute." She finished. She was rather happy as she was talking because Harry had been giving her his full attention and looking at her like a student would look at a teacher.

"How do you know?" Harry asked.

"I read about them, I've always wanted a cat." She added the last part in a disappointed voice, she had asked her father several times if she could have a cat but each time he had refused, apparently 'Frosts had better things to do than waste their time on looking after animals'.

"Hmm, oh look these ones are babies." Harry said as he pointed to a litter of kittens.

"Kittens." Emma said in a soft voice as she and Harry leaned down to look at him, Emma glanced at Harry and nearly laughed when she saw his face was pressed against the glass case as he was intensely examining the kittens.

"What about the black one?" Harry asked, Emma looked at the cat that he was looking at. It was small and black, it had dazzling blue bright eyes that reminded Emma of her own blue eyes.

"Yeah, that's a nice one." She sighed, wishing so much that she could take it home.

"Hmm, Laura would like it." Harry hummed, speaking more to himself.

"Laura? Is that your sister?" She asked.

"Yep." Harry nodded as he moved his face away from the glass.

"Harry," A voice called, he and Emma looked to see Ororo walking towards them, holding a few shopping bags in her hand. "is everything okay?" She asked.

"Oh, I'm picking out a present for Laura, I think I am going to get her a cat." Harry replied.

"I can see that." Ororo said as she looked between Harry and the kittens, right before she looked at Emma. "Hello, my name is Ororo Munroe, might I ask yours?" She asked with a kind smile.

"I'm Emma Frost." Emma said in a polite voice.

"She was helping me pick a pet for Laura." Harry explained. "I want to get her that cat." Harry said as he pointed to the blue eyed cat.

"Well, the good news is that I've talked to the Professor and he has agreed to let you have it." Ororo smiled at him.

"Sweet," Harry grinned before he turned to Emma. "if you want to come and visit to play with it then I won't mind, I don't think Laura would either."

"Really?" Emma blinked at him as if he wasn't taking English.

"Yeah," Harry nodded. "you helped me pick it out." He reminded her.

"I'm sure the Professor wouldn't mind if you did visit." Ororo added. "Now, is that man outside your guardian?" She said as she gestured to the shop window where Emma's bodyguard was waiting.

"My bodyguard." Emma corrected her.

"Oh, well..." Ororo paused and gave Emma a card. "that has our phone number and address if you ever want to get into contact or visit."

"Oh, thank you." Emma said after a short pause.

"You are welcome dear," Ororo smiled at her before she looked at the cat that Harry wanted to get for Laura. "now let's go and buy this one. Though, I'm not sure if it's a boy or a girl." She admitted. Harry turned to Emma and gave her a questioning look.

"What? I don't know either, I haven't got to the part where you learn to tell which one's a boy or a girl." She added defensively.

The next day a small party was happening in the X-mansion, the older students had come down and got their share of food before wishing Laura and Harry happy birthday and leaving while the younger students stuck around.

Jean couldn't help but notice that throughout all of this, Harry was only focused on keeping Laura happy. Which she found a bit odd, it's not like this wasn't Harry's birthday as well, but it seemed like he didn't really care about that as long as he was able to keep Laura happy. That particular aspect of Harry would both exasperate and endear him to her. Near the end of the party everyone gladly ate up their portion of the two birthday cakes that had been brought, which went without incident apart from when Harry growled at Scott when his hands had unintentionally came a little too close to Laura's cake, then it was time for presents.

Harry and Laura were sat in the living room with a pile of presents on the table in front of them.

"Go on, open them." Logan smiled down at them.

"Don't start without me." A voice said, everyone turned around and saw Sabretooth standing in front of them while holding two presents.

"Victor." Logan said in a neutral voice, a bit surprising given their history but both had agreed to bury the hatchet for the kids sakes, if nothing else. "You're late."

"Traffic was murder." He shrugged in response, Logan gave him a judging look so he sighed and gave him a look which Logan mentally translated to Creed's 'it's not my fault and/or they deserved it' look.

"Uncle Victor!" Laura cheered as she rushed over. 'Uncle Victor' as he was known by Harry and Laura, since he had been very clear that he did not like being called anything that started with 'grand'. Victor put the presents down just as Laura leaped into his arms and began hugging him as he - rather gently for a man of his size and strength - hugged her back. Harry, while not moving as fast as Laura, did rush over. Once Creed had put Laura down he pulled Harry into a hug.

"You two runts miss me?" Creed grinned once he let go of Harry.

"Mr Creed," Professor Xavier spoke. "I hope you don't mind if I interrupt, but would it be possible for me to ask you how you got in here?" He asked.

"Your security system is shit." Creed simply answered before he picked up his presents and guided Harry and Laura back to their seats. "Anyone got a problem with me being here?" He asked in a challenging voice.

"You are always welcome here, Mr Creed." Professor Xavier spoke. "Of course, as long as you behave." He added in a softer voice.

"Scout's honour." Creed rolled his eyes as he gave him a mock salute, his eyes then spotted Jean who was sat next to Harry. "You already have a girlfriend?" He asked in a surprised voice, causing Jean to blush while Harry sent him a mild glare.

Soon the twins started opening their presents, they gave out the necessary 'thank you' each time they opened them. Then came the final present, one that was just for Laura.

"What is it?" Laura asked when Ororo gently placed the final present on the table, she lifted off a blanket to reveal a small cage, inside it was a lovely black kitten. "A cat!" Laura gasped.

"A kitten," Ororo corrected her. "Harry insisted we get him for you." Laura squealed with delight before she wrapped her arms around Harry and began planting kiss after kiss on his cheek.

"Thank you, thank you." She said in-between kisses.

"You're welcome." Harry said with a smile once she had let go.

The next day Harry and Laura walked down the halls of the mansion along with Jean, but now they had a new member of their group. 'Felix', was the name that Laura and Jean had given their new feline companion. Why they had called him 'Felix', Harry would never know, but it wasn't really his cat so he didn't question it. Right now Laura was carrying Felix in her arm, the young kitten seemed happy to be carried around by her.

Harry didn't know much about cats but he did like this one, though Jean told him off yesterday for letting the kitten play with his metal claws. Harry didn't really think it was dangerous, it's not like he was going to stab it, but Jean did, so did Ororo and Laura, so Harry was outvoted on that and decided to defer to the girls when it came to health and safety.

"Who's a cute boy? Yes, you are." Laura smiled as Felix rubbed his face against her cheek. Jean smiled and reached a hand out before she gently stroked Felix.

"He is pretty cute." Jean agreed, the three stopped just as they saw Professor Xavier wheeling down the hall along with a man who was walking with him. The man with Professor Xavier was a tall man with grey hair on the sides of his head, brown hair on the top that was combed back apart from a dashing swoop at the front. He also had goatee and was wearing a dark blue suit, similar to Professor Xavier's.

"Ah children," Professor Xavier smiled upon noticing them, he and the other man stopped in front of them. "and how is our newest member doing?" He asked with a chuckle as he gestured to Felix.

"He's doing great." Laura smiled brightly.

"That is wonderful." Professor Xavier smiled. "Oh kids, do forgive me, this man alongside me is a good friend of mine. His name is Dr Stephen Strange." Professor Xavier said before turning to Dr Strange. "Stephen, allow me to introduce you to Jean Grey and her two friends, Harry and Laura Potter."

"I'm sorry, did you just say 'Potter'?" Dr Strange blinked at him before he looked towards Harry and Laura
