That...is a lot to take in." Emma frowned after being told everything that had just happened, she was currently sat with Jean and the twins in Harry and Laura's room. They were all sat on the floor and leaning against the beds. Laura and Jean were sat against Laura's bed, meanwhile Harry and Emma were sat against Harry's bed with Felix resting in Emma's hands.
"Tell me about it." Harry snorted. "Professor Xavier phoned Dr Strange yesterday, Dr Strange is looking into the contract and he says that the best thing to do is go along until we work out a way to get out of it."
"Apparently losing our magic is not something we want to risk, even with our healing factors." Laura commented.
"I'm going with them," Jean said. "I'm not going to leave them there on their own. Someone has to keep Harry from stabbing everyone." She half-joked, funnily enough Harry and Laura didn't argue that point, they both simply nodded in agreement. "Sorry Emma, I guess that means that you have to go to Ilvermorny on your own." She said in an apologetic voice.
"Screw Ilvermorny! I'm going with you three." She said. She had been ecstatic when she had received her letter, telling her that she was in fact a witch and could do magic. The first thing she did was phone her friends to tell them, only to find out that all three of them were also magical. In that moment she had never been happier, she would be able to go to school and learn magic with her friends. Unfortunately for her, that all changed when it was revealed that Harry and Laura were being forced to go to the magical school in Britain. It might have been a hard decision for others, but for Emma, it was easy, if she had to choose between staying with her friends in another country or staying here without them then she was going to choose her friends.
"Are you sure?" Laura asked, raising an eyebrow. "What about your parents? Won't they..."
"Let me worry about them," Emma said before Laura could finish. "trust me, it won't be a problem."
"Fair enough." Harry said. "I'm glad you're coming with us. If you want then you can come with us tomorrow, Dr Strange is coming to take us to get our things. If you want then you can ask him to send a letter to Hogwarts for you."
"That would be delightful." Emma smiled.
The next day the four young mutants were standing ready and waiting to leave. Harry was dressed in blue jeans, black trainers and a grey shirt under a black hoodie. The girls were dressed in jeans with nice shoes, Laura was wearing a white shirt and blue jacket, Jean wore a light green shirt with a blue jacket, Emma had chosen to wear a white shirt under a white coat and had her hair in a ponytail.
"Do you ever wear anything that's not white?" Jean asked Emma as she raised an eyebrow.
Emma did not get a chance to answer as Dr Strange arrived at that moment with Logan, Dr Strange was wearing a simple black suit while Logan was simply wearing black shoes, jeans, a grey shirt and a brown jacket.
"Are you all ready?" Dr Strange asked.
"As we'll ever be." Emma responded.
"Excellent, then let's depart." He said before he created a portal next to them. "We're heading to Diagon Alley, it is a massive shopping centre for wizards and witches." He said before he walked into the portal, the portal stayed open, clearly waiting for the rest of them.
"Well...that's certainly one way to travel." Emma commented.
"What is this place?" Harry asked when they arrived in a pub, he looked around and could see many people sitting, talking and drinking. Though their clothes were most definitely not the sort of clothes that was usually worn when walking out in the street, they were mostly just wearing robes.
"This is the Leaky Cauldron," Dr Strange told him. "this is a pub for wizards and witches, it is also one of the various entry points that let you enter the wizarding world. A regular person wouldn't have even been able to see the pub."
"I couldn't even see it," Logan commented. "I thought this was just some run down old building."
"Wow." Laura breathed as she looked around.
"Excuse me," Dr Strange called to the man behind the bar. "I'm sorry to bother you, Mr..." He trailed off, giving the man a questioning look.
"Just call me Tom," The man said with a friendly smile. "how can I help you?" He asked.
"Well Tom, these people with me are new to the wizarding world and I come from another country, I was hoping that you could tell us how to get into Diagon Alley." He said.
"Ah, of course, follow me." Tom said before he walked away, the group followed him and walked out of the back of the pub into an empty alleyway, Tom walked over to the brick wall opposite. "Now, just get your wand and do this pattern whenever you want to enter." He said before he pulled his wand out and tapped a pattern on the wall, a second later the wall opened to reveal Diagon Alley. "Have fun." Tom nodded to them before he walked off.
"We will." Dr Strange called back before muttering something about wands under his breath, he and the others walked into Diagon Alley, the brick wall closing behind them.
"Well...this looks..." Jean trailed off as she tried to think of what she wanted to say.
"Chaotic." Harry finished for her, as they looked around. They saw buildings of various sizes, people of all ages walking and running around the various shops that seemed to sell everything from bats (the animal and the one used in sports) to brooms to clothes to food.
"Indeed," Dr Strange agreed. "our first stop is Gringotts, it in simple terms is a wizards bank. Fair warning, it is run by goblins."
"Goblins?" Logan repeated, looking at Dr Strange with a small amount of disbelief. "Are you kidding me?"
"No, I am not." Dr Strange shook his head. "They're greedy and vicious little creatures but they will not harm you as long as you don't try to harm them. They're also very good with money. Now, come on." Dr Strange said, leading them past the various buildings and people until they stopped at the big and white building that was Gringotts bank. It was at that point where they saw two goblin guards standing outside of the bank, they were small, barely reaching up to Dr Strange's knee, they had pointy ears, sharp nails with long fingers and razor sharp teeth.
Once they walked in they headed over to the first free teller they spotted.
"Excuse me, Mr..." Dr Strange read the name tag on the Goblin's uniform. "Mr Blueaxe. I have two children who would like to open a new account," He said as he gestured to Emma and Jean. "I also have two children who will most likely already have an account, they wish to access it."
"Name of the account?" The goblin asked in a bored voice, not even bothering to look up from the paperwork he was filling out.
"Potter." Dr Strange told him, Blueaxe looked up and peered down at Harry and Laura.
"I see," He said in a slow voice. "and do they have their keys?"
"What keys?" Laura asked.
"Your vault keys." The goblin said, sounding irritated that she would even ask.
"We never had a key." Harry said as he stepped in front of Laura, locking eyes with the goblin.
"What do you mean you've never had a key?" Blueaxe all but demanded.
"Exactly what I just said, we never had a key to any vaults here. We only found out that Gringotts existed about two minutes ago." Harry told him. Blueaxe locked eyes with Harry, Harry didn't look away. Logan was ready to quickly put a stop to any potential fighting.
"Fucking humans." Blueaxe said under his breath when he finally looked away.
It was a whole hour later when they had left the bank, during that time they had set up a vault for Jean and Emma, Dr Strange had put some galleons (a form of wizarding money, the other two being sickles and knuts) in there for the two of them as a gift, Logan had also given some muggle money that was exchanged for wizard money and put into the girl's vaults. Though Emma insisted that she would pay them both back for it. They would have done the same for Harry and Laura, if not for the fact that the pair were apparently loaded with money as their parents had left them a ton of money. So far they could only access a trust vault until they were old enough to gain access to the main vault, but the trust vault on its own had stacks of galleons that were bigger than Dr Strange.
The goblins had given them replacement keys for their vaults, whilst mentioning something about 'punishing' somebody. The group had silently agreed to discuss that later when they were safe at home.
Once the bank part of the trip was done, the four kids were sent to a nearby shop to get their school uniform while Dr Strange and Logan got a few of their other supplies.
"Hello dears," A woman said as she walked up to them. "I'm Madam Malkin, I own this shop. Are you four looking for school uniforms?" She asked.
"Yes please." Jean nodded.
"Right, well let's start with you first." She said to Harry. "Just hop up onto stool there, I'll be back in a moment so I can take your measurements."
Harry nodded and stood up on an empty stool, he noticed the stool next to him and saw another boy was stood on it. He had grey eyes, slicked back blonde hair and expensive looking clothes. He was examining himself in the mirror.
"Hello," The boy said without looking at Harry. "Hogwarts?" He asked.
"Yep." Harry responded, not wanting to seem rude for no reason. If he was going to be rude then he at least needed a reason.
"My father is next door looking for books, my mother is up the street looking for wands." The boy drawled in a bored voice. "Once I am done here I will drag them off to look at brooms, I don't see why first years can't bring their own racing brooms, it's a stupid rule. I think I will bully Father into getting me one." He finished with a smirk. He didn't notice Harry's thoughtful look as he placed his closed fist a few inches behind the boy's back, Harry looked at the girls, they all looked amused though Jean had a look that quite clearly said that Harry was not allowed to stab him. Harry mentally sighed before he pulled his hand back. "Have you got your own broom?" The boy asked.
"No, not really." Harry replied.
"Hmm, do you play quidditch at all?" The boy asked.
"Not really." Harry said with a small sigh.
"I do," The boy said in a proud voice, either not noticing or ignoring the sigh. "Father says that it's a crime if I am not picked for the quidditch team, and I must say I agree. I might just go pro when I am an adult. Do you know what house you'll be in?"
"Not really." Harry repeated, wondering if this guy would ever shut up.
"Well...I suppose nobody really knows until they get there, do they? But I just know that I will be in Slytherin, all of my family has been in there, I think I would leave, wouldn't you?"
"I..." Harry paused and sniffed the air. "oh fuck!" He blurted out.
"What?" The boy blinked and finally looked away from the mirror.
"How much hair gel do you wear?" Harry said with disbelief as he shook his head, he felt like his nose was burning.
"Shut up," The boy said, his face turning red. "unlike you I actually take some pride in my appearance, don't act like you're better than me just because you're happy looking like a mudblood." He sneered before he hopped off the stool and walked off.
"What a brat." Emma said with disdain, while she did not like everything about her father, she did like the fact that he had taught her how to properly behave in public. Lessons she suspected that that blonde boy could use. Though she suspected that if the boy kept acting like that in the future then either she or one of her friends (probably Harry) would most likely end up teaching him how to behave in a way that he won't forget.
"Okay," Dr Strange sighed. "one more stop left, wands." He said as they stopped outside of a wand shop. The shop was narrow and shabby with peeling gold letters over the door of the shop read: Ollivanders: Makers of Fine Wands since 382 B.C. The shop's display consisted of a solitary wand lying on a faded purple cushion in the dusty window. The group had gotten almost all of their needed school equipment with the exception of wands, the group couldn't help but feel like Dr Strange had been trying to hold this off for as long as he could.
They entered the shop, it was tiny and empty, except for a single, spindly chair in the corner. Thousands of narrow boxes containing wands were piled right up to the ceiling of the tiny shop, and the whole place had a thin layer of dust about it.
"Well, the place certainly has character." Jean commented.
"It could use a cleaner." Emma sniffed as she looked around. In the next moment they all turned around when they sensed someone approaching, Dr Strange thanks to his magical abilities, Emma and Jean thanks to their telepathic abilities, Logan, Harry and Laura thanks to their advanced senses. They all saw an old man walking towards them, he had pale silvery eyes.
"Greetings, I'm Garrick Ollivander." The man said, his stopped when he noticed Harry and Laura. "Ah, I was wondering when I would see the two of you, it seemed like it was just yesterday when your parents were buying their first wands." He said with a small smile. "Now, shall we get started on getting you some wands."
"My friend and I do not need any wands, but the children do." Dr Strange spoke.
"Very well, who is going first?" He asked.
"I'll go." Jean volunteered.
"Very well, let's start." Ollivander said. He started having Jean try wand after wand, some wands would send out little sparks, some would break things that Ollivander would easily repair with a wave of his own wand. After half an hour she had finally found the right one. "Eleven inches, holly and with a phoenix feather." Ollivander said, giving Jean an odd look.
"Is there a problem?" Logan asked, noticing the way the man was staring at Jean.
"I remember every wand I have ever sold, every single one, and I was expecting Mr Potter to get his wand." He admitted.
"Why?" Harry asked.
"It just so happens that the phoenix that gave its feather for this wand, gave one other, just one, and the wand that holds that feather is the wand of he-who-must-not-be-named. The one who gave you that..." Ollivander paused when he noticed that Harry held no scar. "...the one that attacked your family." He finished. "Use it wisely." He told Jean.
"Do all wands take this long to find?" Logan asked.
"No, some less and some more, it varies." Ollivander answered.
"In that case, Logan and I shall get the last of your supplies, wait for us here." Dr Strange told the children before he turned and walked out, Logan nodded to the kids before he followed Dr Strange out.
Next it was Emma's turn, after ten minutes or so she received an elm wand with a unicorn hair, then Laura went next, she had gotten a willow wand with a unicorn hair. Then finally it was Harry, he had taken twenty minutes but he had gotten a wand by the end. It was a mahogany wand with a thestrals tail hair, Harry didn't know what a thestral was but had decided to look it up later.
"Hey kids," A voice called, the kids turned around and saw Logan and Dr Strange standing outside the shop, they couldn't help but notice what Logan was holding in his hands. A cage with a snowy white owl inside.
