Harry, are you okay?" Emma asked. The group were all sat outside of an ice cream shop, Harry was absently eating his ice cream while staring intently at the white owl that Dr Strange and Logan had gotten for them.
"Is he okay?" Dr Strange whispered to Logan as he looked at the boy had been staring at the owl non-stop for the last ten minutes.
"He likes animals." Logan shrugged.
"Hoot." The owl hooted as she looked at Harry with a curious expression, she tilted her head to one side and Harry did the same. "Hoot." The owl said as she straightened her head, Harry straightened his before he reached a finger out and poked it in-between the owl's cage. The owl gently and affectionately nibbled on his finger for a few seconds before he pulled away. The owl let out another hoot, Harry tilted his head to the side slightly before he reached over and unlocked the cage. The white owl hopped out of the cage and quickly flew up and landed on Harry's shoulder, she softly butted her head against Harry's and hooted once more. Satisfied, Harry returned his focus to eating his ice cream.
"What just happened?" Dr Strange asked with a confused look on his face.
"Harry made a friend!" Laura said with a bright and proud smile.
"Now, remember it is technically illegal to preform magic outside of school." Dr Strange told them all when they arrived back at the X-Mansion. "Though the trace on your wands are registered to the British Ministry, they won't be able to detect magic you've performed in another country, especially one so far away. The American Ministry will be able to detect magic performed here since this is a no-maj area, but I can talk to Professor Xavier and set up a room for you all to perform magic undetected. With that being said you will have to hide it from those who don't already know, wizards are very concerned about their secrecy and will have a fit if you're telling just any and everyone."
"Dr Strange, can I ask you a question?" Harry asked, Hedwig was still on his shoulder and showed no signs of discomfort.
"Of course." Dr Strange nodded, he was always one to encourage learning.
"When I first met Dumbledork..."
"You mean Dumbledore?" Jean asked.
"No...I'm pretty sure he meant Dumbledork." Emma said. Harry nodded at Emma before he continued.
"He fired a spell at me, it hit my metal claws and then something weird happened." Harry said. "All of my bones tingles and then I sort of shot the spell back out at him. Is that normal?" He asked, he sort of got his answer when Dr Strange's eyes widened.
"Show me your claws." He all but demanded. Harry did as Dr Strange instructed and held his hands up and let his claws out, Dr Strange immediately began examining them.
"Unbelievable." Dr Strange murmured after thirty seconds or so.
"So...what's up Doc?" Logan asked.
"Oh," Emma groaned at his joke. "really?" She could not help but ask.
"This metal is no ordinary metal." Dr Strange said.
"We know that," Harry replied. "Hank hasn't been able to work out what it is."
"I'd be surprised if he could," Dr Strange snorted. "what your bones are coated in is Uru."
"Uru?" Harry repeated, raising an eyebrow.
"The metal that Mjölnir, Thor's hammer, was forged from." Dr Strange told him. "On its own the metal can be very, very strong and pretty much indestructible. Have a hundred tanks shooting at it nonstop for a whole day and you won't be able to even scratch it. Uru reacts to magic, Thor's hammer is as strong and powerful as it is because of magic and Uru's ability to contain that power, the more magic the stronger it will be. It absorbs magic like a sponge, redirecting it and enhancing the natural attributes of its wielder. Do you realise what this means?" He asked. Jean and Emma gasped as realisation hit them.
"Harry," Jean said in an excited voice. "don't you understand? If this metal can absorb and redirect magic and in it's in your bones then you won't need to use a wand!"
"Miss Grey is right," Dr Strange nodded. "your wand is simply a foci, used to channel your magic from your core, you no longer have need of it since you can use the metal to channel your magic."
"Cool," Harry said after thinking that over. "so...do I still keep my wand?"
"I would recommend doing so," Dr Strange sighed. "it'll be a nice back up for you and you may need it for exams. Practise with it when you can but you should keep focusing on trying to do magic without it."
The next Ororo walked down for breakfast, she paused when she found Harry sitting at a table with Laura and Jean, that was normal. But what was not normal was the fact that Harry had his chin resting down on the table as he stared with wide eyes at the white owl that was standing in front of him.
"Hoot." The owl hooted, Harry appeared to have understood what the owl had wanted because a second later he picked up a bowl full of what appeared to be owl treats and handed it to the owl. The owl hooted once more before it began eating from the bowl Harry smiled and began eating his own food.
"Hello, would you like to introduce me to your new friend?" Ororo calmly asked as she sat down next to Harry.
"This is our new owl," Jean answered. "Dr Strange and Logan got her for us so we can send letters to you or other wizards and witches. The school lets us bring one pet each, Laura's bringing Felix and Harry's bringing Hedwig, me and Emma are just going to share with them."
"Hedwig?" Ororo asked.
"We were looking through some wizarding books and found the name there, she appears to like it." Harry responded.
"You can understand her?" Ororo asked.
"Not really," Harry frowned. "more like I know what she's feeling and I can understand her, but it's not like a language, you know what I mean?"
"Hmm, I believe i do," Ororo nodded. "Logan has a connection with animals as well. So, are you kids looking forward to going to school?"
"I am, I'd be a lot more excited if I was allowed to kill that Snape and Dumbledore guy." Harry replied.
"Harry," Ororo sighed. "you can't just kill each and every person you don't like." She said, Harry looked at her like she had just said the most ridiculous thing he had ever heard in his life.
"You kids got everything?" Logan asked as he and Ororo were stood on platform nine and three quarters, not for the first time Logan was grateful for Strange who was waiting on the other side of the portal. Apparently whenever kids wanted to go to school they had to run straight into a portal that was disguised as a wall, a fact that Logan would not have known if not for the magical doctor.
"Yes, we do." Laura said, hugging Felix to her chest. She was dressed in a blue skirt, a white shirt and a blue jacket. Jean was dressed blue jeans, and a green shirt with a blue jacket. Emma was dressed in a white skirt, a light blue shirt that looked close to white and a white jacket. Harry was wearing black trainers, black jeans, a dark red shirt and a black hoodie.
"Are you sure?" Ororo asked.
"Yes, we are. We double and triple checked." Harry responded. Hedwig who was sat on his shoulder, hooted before she affectionately nibbled on his ear before she flew off.
"I...think you're owl just escaped." Emma blinked.
"No," Harry shook his head. "she just wanted to fly to Hogwarts." He told her. "That's much better for her than being stuck in a train." Harry added.
"Okay, the train looks like it's going to be going soon." Ororo said before she leaned down and hugged Jean before she moved over and hugged Laura tightly, making sure not to harm Felix as she did so. She then moved on to Harry and gave him a hug which he was able to properly return since he wasn't holding a cat in his hands like Laura. "Emma, I wish you the best of luck as well." Ororo added once she let go of Harry. "If you ever need anything then feel free to contact us."
"I will keep that in mind." Emma nodded.
"Well..." Logan paused as he looked at the kids, he wasn't much of a hugger but he likely wouldn't see the kids for a while. "I'll miss you both." He said.
"We'll miss you as well, Grandpa." Laura said as she gave Logan a one armed hug, which he returned. Logan looked at Harry who came over the other side and also hugged Logan, Logan returned the hug with a small smile on his face.
"You guys try and stay out of trouble." Logan said once they let go.
"We'll try...we don't guarantee success though." Harry replied.
"And that's the best we'll get out of you." Ororo sighed as she looked at Harry with a fond smile.
"Thank you, Harry." Emma thanked Harry as he placed her trunk up on the rack once they got into a compartment.
"You could have carried it yourself, you know." Jean frowned as she levitated her own trunk up onto the rack. Jean looked disapproving at the fact that Emma had Harry take her trunk for her, Harry didn't seem to mind but still.
"Not all of us have telekinesis or super strength." Emma reminded her as she gestured to Laura who easily picked up her trunk and placed it on the rack.
"Well...she's not wrong." Laura said as they all sat down. A few minutes later the train started moving and left the station.
"So...how long do you guys think it'll be until I stab someone?" Harry asked in a conversational tone.
"I reckon it'll either be later today or sometime this week," Emma easily answered. "I suppose it's possible for you to last more than a week."
"Harry," Jean sighed. "please don't try and stab anyone on the first day."
"I will TRY not to." Harry nodded. Any further response was cut off as the compartment door opened to reveal a boy around their age, he was a red headed boy with freckles and a bit of dirt on his nose.
"Do you mind if I sit in here?" He asked. "I don't want to lug my trunk all the way up the rest of the train." He said.
"I don't mind." Laura shrugged, that was good enough for the boy who walked in. He tried to lift his trunk but was clearly struggling with it.
"Let me help you." Harry sighed as he stood up and easily picked the trunk up and put it in the rack.
"Wow, thanks." The boy blinked at the easy way that Harry easily put the trunk away. "I'm Ron by the way," The boy said as he sat down in-between Laura and Jean and was now facing Emma and Harry who were sat on the opposite side. "Ron Weasley."
"Oh, it's nice to meet you." Jean said. "I'm Jean Grey, the princess over here is Emma Frost, the other two are Harry and Laura Potter."
"P...Potter?!" Ron's eyed widened as he looked back and forth between Harry and Laura. "You're the boy-who-lived!" He exclaimed when he looked at Harry, his dropped jaw looked changed into a frown as he looked at Harry. "Where's your scar?"
"I don't remember ever having that scar," Harry shrugged, knowing that the boy was wondering why he couldn't see the lightning bolt scar that Harry was famous for. "even if I did it probably healed...you know...like scars do." Harry would have said more but was interrupted by a knock on the door, Harry got up and opened it to reveal a trolley lady.
"Hello, would any of you like anything off the trolley?" She asked, gesturing to a trolley that looked to be filled with wizarding sweets and chocolates.
"Oh yes please." Jean grinned as she and the other girls got up, the girls along with Harry each brought themselves some snacks before they returned to the compartment.
"Didn't you want to buy any?" Laura asked Ron once the trolley lady had left.
"I don't have enough money." Ron said tersely as his face turned slightly red.
"Oh, sorry." Laura apologised, feeling a bit bad.
"You could have asked one of us and then paid us back later." Harry shrugged, Emma nodded in agreement. "If you want something to eat you can probably still catch up with the trolley lady."
"I got food, my mum made me these." Ron said as he pulled out a couple of sandwiches, he didn't look too happy about it and looked like he would prefer the sweets and chocolates that the others were eating but Harry didn't really care. As far as he was concerned the boy had food, edible food, so there was no reason for him to complain. Ororo had told Harry about how she had to steal to eat when she was younger, as far as Harry was concerned the kid had a mother and food, and that was better than what other people had. And Harry and the others had just met him so it wasn't like they should do their best to keep him full and happy.
"Chocolate frogs?" Jean blinked as she looked at the package in her hands. "They're not real frogs, are they?"
"I doubt it." Emma said, though she didn't sound too sure.
"It's just a spell," Ron told her. "it's the cards you want though, there's a card in each."
"Hmm." Jean hummed as she opened the package, her eyes widened as she saw the chocolate frog move before it jumped out of the package, fortunately it was quickly caught by Laura. "Thank you, Laura." Jean said as she took the frog back from Laura. "It's still moving." She said as she looked at the frog that was trying to escape from her hands.
"Bite its head off." Harry told her. Jean looked like she didn't want to but after a moment she remembered that this wasn't a real frog, she brought it up to her mouth and bit its head off, ceasing all movement from it.
"Hmm, that's tasty." Jean smiled as she ate the rest. She then looked down at the card that came with the package.
"Oh, that's Dumbledore." Ron spoke. "I got about six of him." Jean frowned at the card, not exactly fond of the old headmaster.
"Do you want me to do it?" Harry offered as he held a fist up.
"Huh? Do what?" Ron blinked.
"Go ahead." Jean said as she tossed Harry the card. Harry held it against his fist before a single metal claw shot out of Harry's hand and pierced through the card.
"Whoa!" Ron jumped to his feet as if Harry had set the chairs on fire, his eyes were almost comically wide as he looked at the claw coming out of Harry's hand.
"Oh, we're mutants, did we forget to mention that?" Emma asked in an innocent voice.
