last night with Christopher was undoubtedly the most dreamiest night of my life. every part of him, the way he holds me with a gentle and careful embrace, he makes me feel secure. he makes me feel breathable.
" i will miss you eve… don't forget to text me back Eve" he says with concern. his attentiveness towards me makes my heart sink deeper every time. " i will defend not" i chuckle, trying to mask the warmth that spreads through me. He opens the door of the car, stepping out first before leading me outside.
" how much will you miss me?" his eyes locking onto mine with a playful seriousness
" more than you think i would"
" more than me? never" he steps a little closer, the space between us disappearing.
" you bet " my lips curling into a smile automatically.
he pulls me, a last hug before leaving. his arms wrapping around me with warmth and care.
" how long do you want to keep hugging christopher?" teasing him.
"forever" he says. "… i want to continue staying with you for eternity. you're a special gift of god Eve" his grip on me tightens more.
we kissed each other goodbye and i headed towards my room straight, but before i could step in there's devil standing right beside my door. sara looking at me with keen eyes, her eyes sharp and full of suspicion.
" where were you last night?" she knows what she's doing here. her voice dripping with a mix of curiosity and accusation.
" i was just out with someone"
Sara raised an eyebrow, her lips curling into a knowing smile." and who is that someone baby, tell me , i saw him. isn't he Christopher Hemsworth? what is he doing here with you" Her words hit me like a ton of bricks. She knew. Of course, she knew. Nothing ever escaped her keen eyes.
i forced a smile out of my face trying to look less guilty. " okay okay you caught me there …" "…..but i will tell you everything, let me get freshened up first"
Sara's gaze didn't waver, her suspicion still clear, but she nodded slowly, allowing me a brief reprieve.
I showered quickly, trying to clear my mind as the warm water cascaded over me. All the while, Sara was sitting on the edge of my bed, her fingers flying over her phone's keyboard.
As I pulled on a soft sweater, I caught her smirking at the screen. "Texting?" I asked, trying to sound nonchalant.
"Juli and Mary," she said, glancing up with a grin. "They're excited too, baby."
My stomach dropped. "You told them too?"
Sara's grin widened, a mischievous glint in her eyes. "Of course! They had to know. You know how we share everything."
"Great… now the whole gang's in on it," I muttered, half to myself.
"Oh, come on," she teased, nudging me with her foot. "You know you love it when we're all up in your business."
I rolled my eyes but couldn't help the small smile that tugged at the corners of my mouth. "Yeah, yeah. Let me guess—they're already planning something?"
"They're dying for the details, and you know Juli's probably got some wild ideas in mind." She paused, eyeing me with curiosity. "So, are you going to spill the beans or what? You know you can't keep us in suspense forever."
We headed to the cafeteria, where Juli and Mary were already waiting for us at our usual table. The moment I stepped into their line of sight, it was like setting off a firecracker. Before I could even sit down, they both literally threw all their questions at me repeatedly.
"What am I hearing, Eve? What… am… I… hearing? Are you dating?!" Juli practically shrieked, her eyes wide with disbelief.
sara leaned closer, "I knew it when I first saw you eyeing Christopher at our orientation day,"
"Wait, what?" mary chimed in" You met him on our orientation?"
"She was totally eyeing him, but I didn't think it was anything serious at the time."
I could feel my face heating up under their scrutiny. They all stared at me, eyes wide and expectant I took a deep breath, trying to gather my thoughts before they dragged any more out of me. "Alright, alright, calm down. I'll explain everything, but one at a time, please!"
"So, guys…" I started, "I…" still hesitating feeling the weight of their stares. "…AM GOING TO…" I dragged it out, watching their expressions shift from confusion to sheer curiosity.
"…get married."
For a split second, there was dead silence, and then—
"WHAT?!"
The cafeteria seemed to shrink as their voices exploded in unison. Mary's jaw dropped so low I thought it might hit the table, while Juli's hands flew to her mouth in shock. Sara's eyes were as wide as saucers, her phone forgotten on the table.
"Are you serious?!"
"You're getting married?"
" no way i don't believe "
I could only nod, "Yes, I'm serious…."
"… and he's no one other than Christopher"
Mary's mouth opened and closed like a fish out of water, completely at a loss for words. Sara, for once, seemed utterly speechless, her phone slipping from her grasp as she stared at me in disbelief. "Christopher… as in Christopher Hemsworth?!"
And then I began to tell them the full story…
