Chapter 30 - Chapter 30. Effect

Marx stabalized himself on his feet and gauged his current situation. Marx might seem to have miscalculated but he had calculated properly. He knew of two possible ways to inflict damage on the sandworm.

One was by attacking the eye but he had to make that the final blow, if he managed to land one. The second way was the one he had anticipated the sandworm to try to fend him off with.

The pores on its body contracted inwards and slowly opened. It seemed slow in his eyes but the process took less than a mere second. This was exactly what marx expected the sandworm to do.

Not caring of the consequences of the green substance exuded by the sandworm earlier, he prepared to attack it. These pores were probably more fragile than piece of paper.

He activated Fist Torpedoes and with all his might, he punched at one of the pores. He also took his chance to hold his breath and close his eyes for he did not want to risk the effect of the gas or was it a liquid he was yet to find out.

It still had no effect on him but he knew that it was poisonous. He punched at one pore but his hand vibrated like metal hitting metal. But he still got the desired effect.

If one could see what was happening inside his hand as he punched it was ike jolts of blue lightning was been charged from his nerves generating energy from his biceps.

All these jolts converged to form three larger jolts each appearing more powerful than the other one but they all carried the same power. They appeared to have the ability to tear through anything.

But things took a different turn when they all reached his wrist. They all appeared to crystalize and appear like small blue lightning orbs. At the time of impact, these orbs all took three different directions.

They then underwent rigorous bombardment inside the cloth-like metallic chambers of the gloves. They then passed through what appeared like an integrated circuit and as they left throught the nozzles, they came out as laser bullets.

These pores were half the size of Marx's fists. The laser bullets all shot inside the pores tearing apart the soft tissues of the sandworm. This disrupted the impulses being sent to the brain and it was unable to exude the green substance.

The sandworm writhed in pain and let out a screech. The sound was ear-piercing and Marx felt a liquid flow from his ears. He dared to open his eyes but to his surprise, the green substance was not exuded.

He could only account this to the fact that the sandworm had experienced to much pain that it had automatically been unable to release the green substance. Also to work in his favour, it seemed that the pores could not close themselves anymore.

Marx felt some pressure on his fist for he had still not removed it from its body. He removed his fist but he instantly regretted. But it was too late. Not that it would cause him harm anyway.

He had been kneeling on his right knee after punching his face less than 30 centimeters from the pore. No matter how fast his reaction speed was, there was no way he could evade it and took it head on. A bluish black substance shot at him in the face like a fountain.

He just closed his eyes and held his breath for that was all he could do. It was its blood and he knew that it had no effect on him but he might have miscalculated here.

When the blood hit his face, he felt like someone had splashed hot water on him. He was a fool to expect it to have blood the normal temperature as his. This creature was large and its metabolic activities generated too much heat.

He had failed to notice this before when he was fighting the teenage and infants which led to him lowering his guard and take it casually. Even if the blood was but one squirt, its after effects was that he appeared like someone had tar splashed on his face.

Only his his blue eyes retained their colour when he opened them. But the way he puffed his cheeks angrily made it appear like he was from a cartoon character.

He cursed out loud revealing his white teeth. He quickly regained his bearing and decided on not wiping it. But it was then its smell assaulted him. It was too foul such that it drained all the air from his lungs.

He realized that it was not that the blood had the smell initially but it was more likely that it had had some reaction with the atmospheric gases to produce that smell.

He could not afford to get distracted and he quickly punched at another pore. The same process in his biceps took place and after a few seconds, the pore would squirt out some blood.

The air became unabearable to breath when Marx punched for the fifth time. The surface of the sandworm appeared to turn bluish black from the sharp brownish. One could have expected the massacre to continue but after writhing it pain and screeching, the sandworm suddenly started rolling.

It was but yet another desperate attempt to get rid of him. It had even slithered 200 meters away from the rest stopping abruptly and charging instantly in hopes of sending him off but these actions were futile.

It did not even have any concerns for the effect of having sand entering its pores. Marx once again braced himself with Viscous Palms and did not fall off or get rolled on. Instead, he felt like thanking it for making his work much easier.

He knew that there would be dire consequences after the sand entered the pores and he could only look forward to that. He accidentally looked at his hand and he felt his soul once again leave his body then come back.

How could he not, red blisters were now appearing on his hand. He knew that it was not the effect of the blood rather, it was the effect of the green substance. He looked at his other hand and saw it was the same.

He panicked and he almost got rolled over as he flung himself upward and landed on top of its back. It stopped realizing its mistake and after failing to feel his movement. It somehow thought it had rolled him over.

But even as Marx stood on its back, his serious look which would make someone laugh if they saw him, he was horrified. He looked throught the shirt and saw that there were more blisters on his chest. He guessed there were even more on his back.

So this was the effect of the green substance? He realized that it had entered his ears and that was why they had bled after the screech. He could vaguely hear what was happening.

He could only term himself lucky for closing his eyes and holding his breath or maybe his lungs would be in much dire conditions. One might thought he was mad. How was he lucky when he was in such a condition. He should be panicking not the other way round...

He now also attributed the decrease in his stats to the effect of the green substance. He could also feel other of his stats plummeting. Could it be that he was destined to lose his life here?

He realized that if he did not take action, he would fall victim after his stats hit 0. He had to finish this fast or get finished fast. Without much care anymore, he dove into a frenzy and started punching at it once again.

This fight was entirely one sided. There was no way for the sandworm to react other than wriggle itself. The fact that it was experiencing too much pain made it impossible to close the pores.

It was like they even opened up to his attacks. Marx could have punched alot of times but it was difficult to punch and also stop himself from being blown away. It was like a sequence of activating Fist Torpedoes and viscous palms.

Marx could only thank the sand in the pores. It seemed that they were now getting absorbed into its blood stream. And he was correct. The pores other that releasing the poisonous gas were used to absorb nutrients.

If by chance they found something that they could not chew on, they would use the pores. For example absorbing water. Their mouths were designed in such a way that they could get the sand excreted immediately and the nutrients separated to follow a different tract.

If a handful of sand was somehow able to get to the nutrients tract, the effect on it would be so dire that it could even lead to their death. The reason being that they were very tough in the outside but their inniards were so soft and extremely fragile.

One could only imagine the consequences of it absorbing all the sand that had gotten into its pores. If a handful could cause death at worse, then what about absorbing around tens of thousands handfuls?

It could only be sure death. The death of a sandworm that had ingested sand usually took two hours at most but this one would last around five minutes at most. Marx watched as he saw the sandworms reaction go down.

He guessed that it was probably because of the sand. He also saw the massive drop in its stats. He suddenly stopped his assault and headed to the front. He had been around fifty meters from the head.

It took him less that five seconds and he was standing infront of it around ten meters away. He wanted it to have a look at the cause of its death. The blisters on his body were already bursting open under the effect of the hot sun.

He had to finish this fast. He then charged at the sandworm that stared at him horrified. Was this how it died? It too ignored its pain and charged at him but its speed was half as slow as his. This just showed how dire the consequences were.

Marx reached it and jumped punching at its eye. Activating Fist Torpedoes...
