Chapter 24 - chapter 24

Kris admired the grandeur of an ancient oak, its gnarled branches stretching like the twisted arms of a giant.

The tree stood as a monument of time, its bark etched with the tales of countless seasons. Kris's gaze lingered on the tree with a sense of reverence,

as if it held secrets only he could understand. Aaron, standing nearby, felt slightly useless and lacked understanding.

Why does he look at that tree with such awe? Am I like that tree...just standing here, ignored and insignificant?

He glanced at the tree, its vastness dwarfing him. Maybe if I climb it, I can become something more...something noticed.

Without a word, Aaron approached the tree, his fingers brushing against its rough bark. The texture was rugged yet oddly comforting.

He began to climb, his movements showing both determination and hesitation.

The branches creaked under his weight, as if mocking him and showcasing the tree's enduring strength.

Kris watched, amused yet curious about what he was up to.

His eyes tracked Aaron's ascent, noting every slip and regain of balance.

So, he wants to be noticed. He thinks climbing this tree will make him more significant.

Kris's lips curled into a small smile, his expression showing that he was having fun and was entertained.

Aaron reached a higher branch, his hands gripping the bark tightly.

The view from up there was both exhilarating and daunting. The forest stretched out below him, a sea of green and brown.

He looked down, causing a rush of vertigo.

Is this what I wanted?

To be above everything else, to see the world from a new perspective? Suddenly,

Kris's voice cut through the silence. "Careful up there, my senirips. You might fall if you're not careful." His tone was light, but there was an edge of command in his words. He's so reckless,

so eager to prove something. It's almost entertaining.

Aaron's hands trembled slightly as he adjusted his grip.

The comment stung, mixing with his already heightened anxiety. Why does he always have to remind me of my limitations?

His heart raced, not just from the climb but from the weight of Kris's gaze. He could almost feel Kris's eyes on him, like a physical presence.

As Aaron descended, he took a deep breath that expressed both gratitude and frustration.

Kris approached the base of the tree. He looked up, his eyes gleaming strangely, filled with a look of satisfaction and superiority.

He's down now. I wonder how he'll handle the fall. Will he be humbled or angry?

Aaron landed on the ground, his legs shaking slightly. He felt flustered due to humiliation, wanting to hide somewhere.

I tried, but it wasn't enough. Nothing I do ever seems to be enough.

His face was flushed with the true colors of exertion and emotion.

He glanced at Kris, hoping for a sign of approval or at least understanding. Kris's expression remained unchanged, like a mask of indifference.

He's back on the ground, still striving for something he can't quite grasp. It's all so predictable. Kris's eyes met Aaron's, cold and assessing.

"Well done, my senirips. Though I must say, your efforts are somewhat… amusing." Aaron's shoulders slumped slightly.

The compliment, if it could be called that, was hollow. Amusing? Is that all he sees in me? He was frustrated but also felt resignation. I can't change his view of me,

but maybe I can change how I see myself. Aaron stood, catching his breath, while Kris's gaze lingered with detached interest...
