At an auction house on the evening before:
James Baltasar woke up from his unconsciousness. As he tried to move, he felt his head still hurting from getting hit. This damn woman and her master. I will take revenge, even if it's the last thing I will do.
He tried to take out his phone to call for someone to pick him up, but couldn't find it. She even took my phone? What else is gone?
He searched for his belongings, and unsurprisingly, everything of worth was gone, as G took it right before leaving. James, who already expected it, slowly got up and moved out of the VIP room and the auction house.
It was surprising that nobody had found him yet. After all, he was the commanding mage assigned to the little princess from the Selldom family. The other security guards should have searched for him after the auction, but nobody arrived.
As he walked through the VIP room, he noticed that the room was as clean as it was before he entered, without any traces of fighting or violence. It seemed like everything was put in perfect order, and only he himself was left untouched.
Walking through the empty, dark auction house, he arrived at the closed door of the building. Everyone really left with me still suffering on the floor?
Just the thought of his unimportance let his fury peak once more. James summoned a gust of wind, and under the high pressure of the wind, the door hinges broke as the entire door flew out in the night.
These mages will pay, but the auction house has to suffer as well. But first I should contact Selldom to quit this bodyguard job for now. This little brat is way too annoying.
He went to the nearest store and without any hesitation broke in to steal a phone. This wasn't the time to wait for the store to open.
Mages in general often didn't respect the laws of the ordinary population to a certain degree. They see themselves above these people since they have the power to kill them easily. Breaking into a store isn't something a mage would shy away from if it would be unconvenient otherwise. Of course killing and suppressing the ordinary people was strongly prohibited by the mages association, but minor offenses like these, while technically not allowed, would not prombt other mages to act.
After acquiring the phone, James first called Lord Selldom, but surprisingly, the number didn't exist. Oh right, he switches his number every 24 hours, meaning it is already after midnight. I'll need to call Gary to get the new number.
Gary was the mage assigned to protect Lord Selldom himself. He also came from Simsalabimisung Academy and was his senior as well as his close friend.
He called his number, and shortly after Gary picked up. "Hello?"
"Hi Gary, it's me, James. I need the new number of the old moneybag."
"James? You dare to call me? Don't you know what is happening right now? They found out about you."
"Found out about me? What are you talking about? Stop joking and just give me the number. I'm in a bad mood right now. Be quick."
"You don't know? They found out that you were the killer who killed the two promising mages back then at our academy. They found the evidence a few hours ago. I don't know why you did what you did, and I won't tell the order about it, but from now on I don't want you to call me anymore. And one more thing, of course you are fired as well."
Gary hung up the call, and the only thing James heard was the monotone sound on the other end. He was completely out of it. What murders? I am a killer? I never killed someone. He tried to call Gary again, but on the first ring, his call was rejected every time.
James didn't give up and called with more and more anger building inside of him. He needed to hear the truth. He needed to hear that he was innocent.
After the 10th time of calling and rejecting Gary, he finally picked up. "Gary! What is going on? Don't joke around with me. Me a murderer? Is it real? And do you believe it?" He screamed into the phone.
"James," Gary said slowly. "You are quite slow, aren't you?"
"What are you talking about?"
"You know, James, Lord Selldom was quite angry with you. You couldn't protect his daughter at the most important moment. It was a disgrace for him and a disgrace for Simsalabimisung Academy."
"Gary! What are you saying? Did they frame me? I'm still a graduate; there is no way they would do it." James yelled into the phone. He was getting angrier and angrier.
"James, we shouldn't talk anymore. The order will soon arrive, and you should try to get away. You are a criminal now, James," Gary said calmly.
"Don't give me that crap, Gary! Help me prove my innocence! How can you let Lord Selldom frame me? I am a mage!"
"Help you? You are just a murderer, James. Your title as mage has been revoked already. You have nothing left, and we have nothing to do with each other."
Gary hung up the call once again, put out his phone, and walked towards his balcony, lightly smiling.
On the other side, James was completely out of it. Not a mage anymore? Only a murderer? His thoughts were all over the place until suddenly a rough voice interrupted his spiral of anger.
"Get him!" the voice yelled, and soon multiple fire lances were flying towards him. James tried to dodge, but since he wasn't in his optimal condition, one of the lances hit his leg, burning his pants as well as some of the skin.
James didn't scream; he trained and knew what pain felt like. He quickly used his wind magic to create a huge gust of wind heading towards the different mages, presumably from the order.
Then he let the wind carry him away. The wind was strong enough to lift himself, so he was flying through the night. His wound hurt as blood mixed with burned skin was visible on his injured leg. He heard shouts behind him and knew that the order was still close behind him.
The chase went on for some time, but thanks to his wind magic that specialized in speed, he was able to get away for now.
He was finding himself on a wide field. Multiple huge planes were in his sight. He decided that he needed to get out of the country for now. The only choice was entering a plane, hiding, and hoping it would fly as far away as possible.
In the cover of the night, he hid inside a passenger plane that would hopefully take him far away. As he found a good hiding spot, he collapsed in exhaustion and drifted to sleep.
His mind and heart were full of negative emotions. From fear to sadness, turning into boundless fury, and eventually an unshakeble hunger for revenge was born. The entire world was against him; he wanted nothing more than to just kill them all.
Kill the mages, kill the rich people, kill the artists, and most importantly, kill Gary, kill the Selldom girl, kill Selldom himself, kill this annoying mage woman, Mage, and kill Trash!
James woke up to the start of the engine. And unbeknownst to him, he was on a flight to China with some of the same people he so desperately wanted to kill.
