Chapter 16

A girl with black hair and green eyes was sitting on the floor looking at a napkin in front of her.

Below her was an octagonal symbol drawn in red.

"I need to buy another can of ketchup next week."

The girl looked at the finished can of ketchup she had put to her side.

"I seriously can't believe this crap works."

"That boy.... How did he know that?"

She thought about the dark-haired boy who had come up to her two days ago.

He looked average and acted as if he knew him.

Lost in her thoughts, Pheniyet tried to grow a small seedling in her hand.

In the past two days he had practiced constantly and had learned to control the magic of nature to some extent.

"I still have a lot to learn."

Pheniyet broke the seedling he was growing in his hand in two.

What he wanted to do this time was to heal the seedling. He held his hand and closed his eyes. As the split seedling joined together, Pheniyet happily celebrated what she had done.

"As that boy said, I am more skilled in healing spells."

"Aghh, the more I think about it, the weirder it seems. How could an orphan like him know this technique that even my own family couldn't find."

Pheniyet spent the next two days training and searching for the black-haired boy.

Contrary to what the boy said, they were not in the same class. Instead, he found him in class 1-5.

His name was Vayne Salas and he came from a lower echelon. He had no family and owed a lot of money to the Dome.

He exited the octagon after feeling that his Phenomena mana was close to running out.

"That's enough, tomorrow I will try to make this seedling bloom."

The young girl consumed one of the mana potions in her hand while watching the video of the results of today's field training.

She didn't even know what time it was.

It was probably past midnight, but she wanted to watch that boy's video one more time.

One video had him glued to the screen.

It was not his own team's video. Pheniyet's team had already made the top 10 in the exam.

9th place was easily obtained with Pheniyet's help.

"That damn octopus was so annoying."

Pheniyet grimaced.

They had fought against a humpback octopus in the training test.

Thanks to his nature magic, the octopus's movements were significantly restricted. But it was difficult to hold the almost one-ton animal with twigs.

Pheniyet and his team's battle with the humpback octopus lasted almost 30 minutes. He was ranked so high thanks to their quick finding of coordinates and the average level of the other people in his team. A teammate was hit by the poisonous secretion of the humpback octopus and Pheniyet used a healing spell on someone for the first time. Since the poison was weak, even Pheniyet, who had no idea about healing spells, was able to heal.

With this advantage, they engaged in a war of attrition with the octopus.

The winner, of course, was Pheniyet's team.

But that wasn't the case right now.

[Video of the 16th place team]

Pheniyet replayed the video as it ended.

For the full 40 minutes, he kept an eye on the boy, out of breath from running.

He was pulling his team further and further back.

The only person on the boy's team that Pheniyet knew was Eleine. As Pheniyet's father was a rich businessman, he was close to the head of the council, Hector Sunders. This caused them to meet Eleine in some meetings.

Pheniyet knew Eleine's character. They predicted that Vayne's life would go downhill.

The monster Vayne targeted was a black bull. The battle lasted about 10 minutes, a surprising time for Phenomenon.

Even though Eleine's plan was a war of attrition like his, Vayne suddenly intervened and changed the direction of the whole battle.

"How many lives does this kid think he has?"

Even though we were students in the Dome, the slightest mistake here would result in death.

Pheniyet rewound the battle scene and watched it once more.

Vayne was using a pistol. After coming to the Dome, she had put down her sword and picked up a pistol instead.

Both choices were terrible for Pheniyet, given that he was an emitter.

He watched the scene of Vayne attacking the bull one more time.

At that moment he realized something surprising.

Vayne's pistol never damaged the black bull's skin, but Vayne seemed to be aiming at a single point.

Even as the beast attacked him with its fangs, he was firing bullets into the beast's right knee.

Could it be?

Pheniyet walked over to his locker and picked up the encyclopedia of monsters.

"Black bull...."

When he found the monster he was looking for in alphabetical order, he began to read the entries.

Perhaps this information about the black bull would help him see the situation from a different perspective.

"A mana-corrupted version of the bull that lives on the beach or in narrow paths. Not a threat to a G-level wizard. With its horns and powerful venom, it is extremely deadly to normal humans. Its weakness is unknown."

Pheniyet put the book aside and tucked her hair behind her ear.

"Maybe I'm overthinking it, who knows?"

Pheniyet shook the negative thoughts from her mind and went to bed to sleep.

Vayne's POV.

Wednesday's first lesson was anti-mage training, a 2-hour class where students simply paired up and fought. The wizards used training weapons to prevent injuries and facilitate the work.

Arthur White was paired with Max, our class representative, while Seth was paired with Herald.

Eleine and Estelle were battling it out, but Eleine didn't stand a chance. Even though Estelle was a magic user, one-on-one combat was one of the things she enjoyed.

" Uuuuuuuuuu. "

"Rank 803 Vayne Salas, stand up now!"

"Ben, I can't."

As for me, I was paired with an anti-magic combat instructor instead of a cadet because they had no training weapons. I was fighting with the instructor because a real weapon could hurt me.

This was the solution the Dome came up with to protect me from serious injury. How nice!

"What do you mean you can't!"

The female instructor ordered me to give everything. Exactly 1 minute later the instructor was giving me everything. as a result I was a doormat.

*Patt

Another blow to my face and I fell to the ground.

"Get up!"

I slowly got to my feet and slid a bullet into my gun.

He grabbed my collar angrily as a bullet grazed his forearm. He was just too fast. Or maybe it was my generally low stats that made me think he was fast like an animal.

I suddenly regretted that I had spent my first two weeks in this world loafing. I had to work.

"I can't keep going. I give up."

"Yes, you can!"

"My body doesn't move."

"It will!"

The wizard staff teacher forced me up once more.

"Raise your guard and do something!"

He ordered, but the pistol in my hand felt heavy. I pulled the trigger reluctantly. The instructor blocked the bullet with his hand and lunged at me. I couldn't hold on and I fell. A searing pain shot through my body.

"I give up. I give up."

I raised my hands and waited for this torture to end.

"You didn't move after I shot you. I told you to do something!"

Chak!

He slapped me in the face.

"Aghhh!"

"WAKE UP, is this how you want to be a wizard!"

"Yes, because I don't want to get beaten up anymore."

Chak!

I was getting angry now. When I think about it, wasn't this woman younger than me? Considering my past life, she was 25 or so...

"Get up!"

For the third time I refused to take it. Instead I grabbed her arm, and then...

It wasn't healthy for me and it wasn't healthy for her psychology.

"You asshole."

I bit the teacher's hair.

"Ah! What are you doing!? 803... Let go! Let go! Let go! Let go!"

I squeaked his hair and backed away as if my life depended on it.

My awkward movements silenced the surroundings, but I didn't have time to pay attention to anything like that.

Probably everyone had stopped what they were doing and locked onto me.

"W-This is a warning! Let go! I said let go!

I'm going to bite this hair off, I swear I'm going to bite it off!" The instructor who had let go of the ponytail was fluttering around in confusion and anger.

"Y-you...!"

I could see the instructor's fist in front of my eyes, and I have no memory of what happened next.

When I got up, I was in the infirmary and there was none other than Arthur with me. The first thing that greeted me was a sharp headache, but it didn't last long.

"Oh, you're awake. "

The tall boy next to me spoke.

"How long has it been?"

"You were unconscious for about an hour. The training class is over."

"that damn woman peh.... !"

My face contorted as I pulled the thin strand of hair out of my mouth.

I cursed inwardly.

"pfft."

Arthur smiled slightly. But it wasn't very long. He apologized immediately, probably thinking that his gesture was inappropriate.
