Chapter 3 - The Nursery

"It's not everyone's day. Everyone seems upset at the turn of events, causing them all to lash out at each other. However, they all have to still deeply care about each other. They cannot call themselves brothers, or even friends. They are themselves; for they are all part of one mind.", Subconscious told himself, convincing himself that they would work it out and come around the major mishaps that have taken place.

Thus, he continued down the stroll, leaving the monumental library present in the utopian-like city. Life is so strange, is a sentimental statement that people usually make when something partially goes their way and they want to look at it positively. In truth, your mind is even more chaotic. It keeps on thinking about how a particular scenario may pan out. It is constantly churning out numbers, and ideating when it doesn't need to be. It constantly rushes to think about hitting the next goal, and the joy and excitement that one gets on hitting it. At the same time, it can also feel burdened, when it is hit with nostalgia, or something far worse, when it is hit with hardships. The constant feeling of self-doubt that these magical scenarios not playing out hits you. It makes you feel weaker than you already are. When you start to lose those, you have around you, your attachment to yourself grows weaker. Your emotions start spiralling all out of control until you are finally deemed what is known as unstable.

This is the truth about our minds. They may be the most fascinating thing that has been developed through generations of evolution, or even the fact that we may be the few smart species present in this time frame, showcases the effect that our minds have on us. It gives rise to behavioural patterns that we formerly could not see.

As Subconscious continued walking, he promptly exited the city, reaching to see what all was present post this desolate landscape.

He continued to walk, and he walked more. Until he reached a rather peculiar location. One he didn't expect was going to even exist.

There was a lonesome garden that was present.

Subconscious walked around and saw the various botany from different planets present here. He could not imagine that such a humble place would be present in the mind-space of one of the most powerful creatures that all of space and time managed to establish.

As he walked further and further, he grew more curious as to who even would run this place.

Until there was the shade that ran the entire garden by himself.

Subconscious went for the greeting, "Hey there Fourth Blade. I see that you are spending your time in a much calmer environment than I pictured you to be in."

Insanity looked towards the direction of where the voice came from. With personal distaste, he turned away, "What do you even want?"

"Nothing, I just was checking up on everyone. After all, the mess that took place at the table, and with the main one's mental health deteriorating further, I did not want to take up my chances on leaving you guys unguarded.", Subconscious stated. "I am just here to help."

"You didn't seem that happy with all the events that took place at the event yourself, Advisor. I know that it can be hard to control your jumbled-up messes when you are in charge of a particular role.", Insanity stated.

"Insanity, for someone who is as well, 'crazy' as you are… I am really surprised to see you over here. I never expected you to be taking part in such stints"

"Well, it is pretty easy for me to lose myself on the battlefield and pretty much at any moment where I am not purposefully making sure that I am keeping my emotions in check. I am the main reason why the body is still safe from some of the most fatal battles that have taken place, but my job is meant to be unforgiving. The destruction and chaos that I leave when I awaken, I cannot control that. I am just there to make sure that no further damage can take place."

"That is the reason why you took up gardening? Something to keep you occupied when everyone else is losing themselves because of something that they had no control over."

"If I am being completely honest, it is all on Six. The First Blade takes on way too much of a responsibility to lead us. Whereas gardening… yeah. I don't love it, but it can pass as a hobby that I can barely enjoy. I enjoy killing more. But I know the value of life. I know how harsh it is to live in a place where you try as much as you can to control and micro-manage everything; and then see it all crumble and fail. It crushes you."

"Are you trying to blame Six, or rather me, for this entire fiasco that took place at the table?"

"No. Not. I could have destroyed the table completely, and it would have created a bigger mess. The First Blade made the conscious choice to leave everyone alone so that everyone could heal at their own pace. I have already mostly healed. I understand more than anyone else the importance of loss. I know it pains everyone, but had this not taken place, we would have lived in a timeline with more loss and destruction."

"You take solace in this fact?"

"Do you sense something special about all the flora that are present in this garden? They are all very much close to their end."

"You mean they are all going to be dying soon? You try and lengthen the lifespan of these sub-spatial plants?"

"Non, Advisor-monsieur. These plants are the souls of all the organisms that have lost their lives to the hands of us. No matter how gargantuan the creature may have lived, or how small the lifespan might have been made, all their souls are present in this garden."

Subconscious stood there in complete disbelief. He took taking more rounds of the entire garden. There were greenhouses, orchards, and reserve spaces. It was filled to the brim with each special care that took care of special kinds of botany. "We have managed to kill these many organisms? That seems a little too much."

"You want to see something else?" Insanity got up and went towards the place where it was labelled "Insanity's Domain". "You see these flora present here. All these flora, we all loved these people. All these organisms from the biggest of them, to this small one present here. We had to unfortunately put them all down, but we all held them very close. That's why I maintain this garden. I keep this constant reminder about how precious it is to be born. This garden reminds me every time I turn into my usual self, about the cost that I have when I awaken to my full potential."

"Insanity, you are far more mature than I thought you would be. People would usually presume that insane people act their way due to circumstances or rather, when they lose themselves and become childish. I feel like I owe you an apology. You are right. We need to value this far more. Life is not something we can lose that easily." Subconscious gave a warm smile to Insanity, as he lay himself in the garden for some more time. "It is so fascinating to think that in a world where there can be more than one version of themselves, we often lose ourselves to the greater world. All we need to do, to regain our previous selves, is to just do something that calms us. It's the glimmer that is present in this chaos of a world."

"More than a glimmer, it brings you the importance of knowing what you have done is right or wrong. I may be the one who brings most battles to an end, but I am also in my own right the one that causes Six to act rational. If I am not present, any decision that you guys make can be deemed faulty, or without any thought. I exist for you guys to flourish."

Subconscious sprawled himself in the garden, spreading his entire body.

"I am going to take a break in this garden."
