Chapter 8 - The Pond

"Despite everything, I always find myself coming back here again and again.", Infatuate stated after taking his newly fashioned fishing pole and heading for the lake.

Covered with the most blank scenery possible, one couldn't imagine there being life in the pond, but all the power that resides in the imagination, can be found all over the mind-space. Thus, anything can be made to happen in this lake.

Infatuate treaded carefully from his club to the nearby pond. He was weary, for he did not want to encounter anyone during this entire trip. All he wanted, was for some fun time by himself.

Needless to say, that wish of his was going to be granted, for there was no one eyeing to come to that location. Everyone else seemed busy with their tasks, with some of them testing out their powers, and the others challenging themselves to do their jobs better.

Infatuate sat next to the pond took out his pole and threw the entire pole into the pond. He sat next to the banks, as he felt there was no need to truly catch anything.

"I sometimes wonder, if there was a time and place, where all of us weren't split into different beings and personalities ourselves. Just how much damage would the main one have taken, had the tasks not been split up, and he took it upon himself to do everything? With this, he can easily multitask. I sometimes respect the work that the others do. I barely do anything myself, for I am just there to make sure everyone is happy and optimistic with their work."

Infatuate began to shrug himself, as he formed a stick and started to draw into the mind space as if it were sand. He wrote down all of the Blade's names with their designated titles.

Beside his title, he wrote that he was the 'Personification of the Lovers Arcana'. He felt that it was truly his title. He was born to be the one who everyone loved and seemed to trust. As he continued writing everyone's roles, he began to understand the reason why these titles were given to them in the first place.

"Gatherer must have such a hard time trying to figure and sift through all the information. Makes him the salesperson of all the information. Considering everything, Gatherer does have some of the toughest tasks. Now that I think about it, all of the others do so much more than me. All I do is sit around and be pretty. I do nothing else. I cannot even be mad about it, it lessens my workload by a lot. It's just that I wish these guys would take me seriously as well."

"He looked into the never-changing sky, and the gloomy atmosphere, for everyone in this headspace was down. No one had any form of positivity. "I don't even feel like interfering with anyone's work. It would be a disservice to the effort that they've put into themselves." Letting out a huge sigh, he wonders why he even came to the pond. He wanted to try something out, but then the mood was killed by these thoughts.

"Each time I want to try something out, I always wonder, why am I doing this alone? It feels weird to be all alone when you are the mastermind surrounded by people always. I can take up any form that the world wants, any form that the universe demands. It's lonely to be surrounded by no one."

Infatuate began to roam around the landscape. He knew that there was not much that could be achieved at the pond, so he stood up and started roaming around the vicinity.

"I already threw my pole away, what could even happen now… I just feel so wrong when there's so much going on, and I am just unable to do anything." He started thumping his chest as if it was his fault. He deep in his heart knew that it was no one's fault. No one was at fault here at all, they all were just broken from the same incident. All the courage they had to speak about it fizzled away after the Table's meeting. Each of them felt responsible in their way. They felt that they could have prevented this disaster, but that feeling kept spiralling out of control for everyone. No one truly knows the purpose of what they do, until they finally complete their task and move on to the next task.

For them, everything is based on who does the task better. That is all that is there to it, isn't there?

Infatuate broke down in the middle of absolutely nowhere in the mind-space. All he could do was think of a miracle scenario taking place, where all of them were rescued by the main body. The realization then hit him, there is no main body anymore. He is gone, as they are all shades of the main body. They are all quirks that make the main body function and help him with different scenarios.

"I- I really can't do anything. I am just sitting in my bar, waiting for the next message to come, when everyone will be excited to meet each other at the table again, won't the? I-it feels so l-lost." Tears kept flowing through his eyes. Raw, strong emotions filled up Infatuate, as more and more of the mist seemed to cloud the surrounding areas.

Out of nowhere, small creatures seemed to flow out of Infatuate and start to surround him. These creatures seemed to be of all the same species, but Infatuate could not place where he had seen these creatures.

About seven hundred of them began to gather around Infatuate and ate up all the misty fog before they could cause more damage to an already clouded-up mind. Clouding up emotions and keeping them suppressed can always lead to horrible consequences. The little critters seemed to want to direct Infatuate to go somewhere, so all seemed to wrap him. There was something comforting about having all these little creatures wanting to take care of this shade.

"Who even are you guys? Who sent you guys here?", was the question that was pondering inside Infatuate's mind, as he was slowly let go and startedony his own accord following the creatures.

"Simple but effective. I know that you hold some special significance, otherwise, it would be impossible apart from us shades to exist in this mind-space. So unless you are some extra-terrestrial being that is trying to invade this mindspace, I suggest that you leave.", Infatuate tried to coax them into revealing their main intentions, but these creatures paid no heed.

Infatuate followed them slowly, as they returned back into the pond again. Confused at it, he turned to the creatures and questioned them on their purpose to bring him back there.

The creatures simply responded by going into the pond and getting the fishing pole that Infatuate had made. After that, all of them went into the pond and let out a cute squeal as they all started to fizzle away in the depths of the pond as if they were dissolving in acid.

"What a crazy turn of events…", that was simply all that he could think about.

"I guess we will sometimes never know the answer to certain questions."
