Walking in the hallways of the Vanquisher Corps Medical center, was kenny and the still mortified Claire.
"By the way Claire, aren't you supposed to be with the others in training? What are you doing here?"
Claire looked over at Kenny.
"I was ordered to come pick you up since you probably don't know the way and would have gotten lost."
Due to Claire, he had realized that he indeed would've been lost if Claire had not come to guide him to the training grounds.
Kenny began to imagine what his comrades would be like, but this brought up a forgotten dilemma to Kenny. William Yemel.
'Oh ya. I forgot. Damn it, why do nobles have to be so damn prideful.'
Kenny began to consider a few things that he could do. He thought about just taking it and not doing anything but the thought really irritated him so he quickly dismissed it. He considered fighting back if it came to it, but remembered his defeat and also disregarded the idea. Kenny was lost on what to do with the predicament.
'Mabye he'll be nice about it? I highly doubt that.'
Kenny let out a big sigh. Claire looked over at Kenny with a confused look.
'What's wrong with him?' She thought.
Upon arriving to the training grounds a group of about 30 to 40 trainees filled "Ground 13" which was one of the 30 total training grounds in the Corp's base. Kenny and Claire walked over to the group. The female Lieutenant noticed the tardy Kenny.
The Lieutenant was a fit women with short black hair and sharp eyes that made kenny shiver a bit.
"Well if it isn't Mr. Chosen one himself!" The Lieutenant yelled.
Kenny flinched at the lieutenant's roar.
'Mr. Chosen one? Is she referring to me being Sponsered by the General?'
"What are standing around for dumbass, are you lost?! Hurry up and get over here!"
Kenny hurriedly jogged over the group of trainees and stood with his back straight and palms to his sides like the others. Then, the Lieutenant's voice roared throughout training ground 13 yet again.
"Listen up, I'm not the one who was supposed to do your training, but I wanted to make you experience hell personally! And in here, you are to be obedient and follow orders to the letter is that understood!?"
The recruits in harmony responded to the Lieutenant.
"Yes, ma'am!"
The Lieutenant continued with her words:
"Here in the Vanquisher Corps, you will be mostly learning how to work together! In other words, teamwork! Most Vanquishers can't take on demons alone and need the help of others! So with this in mind, you must understand that teamwork is essential in battle! Now, I want 7 groups of five were, going to start off with mock battles!"
Kenny looked around to try to find Calire but saw that she was already in a group of five. Kenny made a worried face as he panicked, for he knew no one. Suddenly a hand grabbed his shoulder, Kenny looked behind him and saw a boy with messy gray hair. His eyes were calm and filled with kindness which surprised Kenny because the boy behind him was William Yemel.
With a gentle voice William spoke:
"Hello, your name was Kenny correct?"
Kenny stood silent as he stared at William, surprised at his calmness. Kenny presumed that William would start bad mouthing him. But no, he was smiling at him with no ill intentions at all. Kenny hesitated but finally spoke:
"Yes... that's right."
"You really surprised me back in the Recruitment Trails. I didn't expect you to predict my Blink like that. You truly are impressive."
"You aswell. But I'm not impressive at all, I did lose to you after all."
William lightened his smile.
"Mabye so, but you were still able to land a good hit on me while I was using Blink."
William raised his hand in an attempt to shake Kenny's hand.
"The reason I came up to you is that I would like you to form a team with me. Would that be possible?"
Kenny was shocked that William would want to form a team with him. Kenny looked behind William and saw a crowd of about fifteen trainees wanting to join him.
Kenny was mystified as to why he would want to form a team with him so he simply asked:
"Why would you want to form a team with me?" Kenny asked.
"I wish to get closer to you. Besides, you look a bit panicked earlier."
Kenny thought for a while putting his hand on his chin.
'I mean he doesn't seem like a bad person and I see no reason why to refuse.'
After about five seconds of pointless thinking, Kenny finally agreed to team up with William. William raised his hand and so did Kenny to shake hands.
After they shook their hands, the Lieutenant's voice echoed throughout the grounds.
"Alright that's should've been enough time!"
The Lieutenant glanced over at the two trainees who had just shook hands.
"Where are your team of five?" The Lieutenant asked.
Kenny and William both looked at each other and then around them. The rest of the recruits had already formed teams, even the ones itching to form one with William had scattered off to find a team of their own.
"Mr. General's Son and General's chosen one where is your team?"
William took the initiative to respond.
"I apologize Lieutenant, it seems that everyone has already formed groups and we're the only ones left."
The Lieutenant turned around to look at the other recruits and noticed that they all indeed were in their own groups. She turned back at both Kenny and William.
"I see, then you two will be a team. You guys are probably the strongest ones in this group anyways."
"Yes, Lieutenant!"
Kenny didn't think he was on of the strongest in the group so the Lieutenant's arrangement made Kenny worried. The two of them would be fighting against five.
In the distance, Claire looked over at kenny and let out a faint laugh, clearly laughing at Kenny predicament. Next to Claire's team was a tall guy with red slick back hair. He had an angered look on his face, directed towards Kenny.
Two teams stepped up to a circle similar to the ones during the Recruitment Trails and the mock battles begun. The mock battles continued until it was ultimately Kenny and Williams' turn. They both walked into the ring with wooden swords in their hands.
A different team walked into the circle as well. They looked quite hesitant to fight the two of them, they felt a sort of guilt fighting them while outnumbering them. The Lieutenant looked over at the hesitant team.
"Don't hold back or hesitate! One of them is the Generals' son and the other is specifically hand chosen by the General!" The Lieutenant Yelled.
This seemed to have shifted their hesitation to a different direction. They now felt somewhat scared to fight two peope with that kind of background. But they had no choice, their numbers let some of the hesitation lighten.
The two on the other hand were calm and collected, even Kenny. Kenny turned towards William.
"Hey William, since you're stronger and more experienced you take the three on the left and i'll take the two on the right. Their probably somewhat acquainted with each other but not experienced in team combat so I'll separate the other two."
Williamm nodded in agreement.
"Now, begin!" The Lieutenant screamed out.
