Chereads / The Wizards Indignation / Chapter 38 - Not just a wizard

Chapter 38 - Not just a wizard

"He's even more dangerous than the monkeys." The other students gulped as they watched Jarett kill them easily with nothing but his fists and feet. He seemed to be enjoying every bit of it.

"It will be best to take him out." A boy thought watching from behind but he couldn't bring himself to attack him.

"Jarett?" A familiar voice called his name and he turned and smiled brightly.

"You already cleared this area." Raten said scouting the place. The number of dead monkeys were about thirty not counting the ones the twins walked over on their way there.

"It was pretty easy." Jarett responded with a grin.

They said nothing after that and just kept walking. The twins followed the little girl's lead.

"Do you two know where you're going? I seem to be going about in circles now." Jarett said moving with them.

"We're not sure if we're taking the right paths, we're just confident in her confidence." Kiyan replied.

"Uh... Okay." Jarett shrugged. He himself had been moving merely on his whim, so trusting someone else's intuition didn't sound too off to him.

Meanwhile, Lecter was getting by with his own group. There was fire razing the maze around them. Most of them were badly hurt, having burn scars and sinking into the ground.

Lecter used a piece of his clothing over his nose while he coughed due to the smoke that now filled the area.

The brown haired, brown eyes, fire casting maniac had gone on a rampage. They had met another group in front with a vision spell user as their leader. Only this time, the vision lad was also a trouble maker.

They needed only a few more turns to get to the crystal and those two were not letting just anyone have it.

"All we were told to do was get a crystal right? This means, everyone is my enemy." The vision boy of the other group said. He had silky jet-black hair that reached his lower back. His eyes were as dark as the night and his smile was sinister.

He pulled out a spear that was strapped to his back.

"Exactly, and there are no rules whatsoever." The brown haired, fire crazy trouble maker said and unsheathed his double edged battle axe.

"First of all," Black hair started and turned back to his group.

"No interference to the main goal." Brown hair completed his sentence.

"Oh no." Lecter said, realizing what they were about to do.

The black-haired vision boy swung his bat simultaneously with the brown hair as he swung his axe. Fire hit one side while ice went out in the other direction.

They didn't even give anyone a fighting chance, they were all taken out of the test.

"I will get the crystal and become a wizard!" Brown hair exclaimed and leapt forward. He swung his axe down at the foreseer. Who blocked with his spear.

"Don't take me too lightly." The foreseer said, holding his spear firm with a smirk.

'What? It didn't cut neither did it break?' The brown hair wondered about the bat. "Is he also using a forged magical weapon?"

"You're not the only one who waited long for this." Black hair said. He pushed the brown hair back overpowering him and moved his spear - now covered in ice - to stab Brown hair

The brown haired one blocked with his axe that was now covered in fire. He gritted his teeth glaring at the other.

*Huff, huff, huff...

"Phew! That was close." Lecter wiped the sweat off his forehead while taking in deep breaths. Just when he had seen the other two move their weapons, he lifted both arms over his head and out of instinct called upon a shield spell.

The ice and fire moved hitting the shield but did not affect him.

"Thank heavens I took those magic lessons seriously, if not I would have been out already." Lecter said. He looked at the two in front of him still fighting their hearts out.

"Right. We were basically set up for war coming in here and yes, they are right. There are no rules. While they carry on foolishly with their strength, brains have to be used as well."

He pulled out his bow that was hung on his back, and two arrows from his bunch.

"I hope they don't mind if I join in."

Lecter placed the arrows on his bow and aimed at the two. More accurately, he aimed behind them.

"I watched them everyday push themselves to the limits just to get stronger. I think of how easily I am being pushed around and hit by everyone. How long do I have to walk from the shadows?"

Lecter said to himself while aiming at the two fighters.

"I guess, I'll just have to attack from the shadows." He pulled on the string of the bow and aimed at the two who were still in the heat of battle. They seemed evenly matched. No one was going down.

"After lessons with that man on magic, I practiced it with my arrows. I don't want to just be a wizard…" He let go of the arrows.

They flew and landed behind each one of them.

"Axzhevah.. Distortion." Lecter whispered.

Both boys halted at the glowing arrows. Their vision was a mess and their ability to use magic was faltering.

"Huh?"

"What the h--?!"

They were shot with an invisible force that sent them flying through the maze walls. They were hit with a double spell.

"...I want to be a, a.." Lecter looked left and then right. He then scratched his head in confusion.

"Which way do I go?!" He wondered and then picked a random direction.

Unknown to him, when he used the shield, he protected someone else, the vision kid of his own group. He had hidden himself within the walls when the fight was happening.

After the explosion, he stuck his head out and saw Lecter standing alone.

"Did he take them out?" He wondered in awe. He didn't look like he could do much. He had mostly been hiding and avoiding confrontations with the brown hair and the goblins, even the monkeys too.

"He doesn't even look hurt in any way. And he dealt with them in seconds. He, he must be one of those possessed with great powers." The boy assumed.

He had no idea Lecter used the fact that they thought only they two were there and they were completely distracted to make an attack. If they had noticed him, he wouldn't have been successful.

"I must not let him see me or he might use me as well." He waited for Lecter to choose a path which unsurprisingly, was a wrong one, before he came out of hiding.
