As I walked across the dock I was able to see the lights of the port town that seemed to glimmer around me.
I noticed that my long hair was no longer the same color. Somehow it had changed to a white color. I wondered if that was a result of my strengths as a moon elf activating in the light of a full moon.
In the end, I would have to either research it myself or ask another muno if I find one in this world to find that answer. I chose to ignore it and move on with my mission of slaying all of the beasts in a dungeon on this island.
The people of this town were very energetic around me. It took every ounce of my agility to avoid hitting any of the children who were dashing past me.
Whenever the children ran past me it was only a few moments until their older siblings or parents apologized to me.
It took me about an hour to make it through the active area of the city. While I was there I chose to ask for directions to the dungeon side of the island. One of the merchants was kind enough to tell me that it was on the eastern side.
The eastern side of the island was quite different than the side that I had entered. On this specific side of the island, everything seemed to be more wild in architecture. The only clear sign that people had been through here was the torches that were continuously lit with a white flame.
These torches made it clear enough to see what was in front of me, but not more than about six feet at a time in the dark.
There was only one way for me to know which way to go, and that was due to the signs that played the names of the dungeons that were at the end of these paths.
I followed the main pathway until it split into a six-way fork.
Before deciding which road to take I chose to look at the paper that the adventurer's guild had me about this quest.
It said that the dungeon that I was going to enter was the lair of the reptiles. That was all that it told me.
I found the correct path and walked down it until I made it to the dungeon entrance. In front of me, I saw a massive portal that seemed to glow an even brighter blue color as I approached it.
It took every ounce of courage for me to step into this portal, not knowing what was going to be on the opposing side, but if I allowed myself to be overwhelmed with fear, I would never truly become an assassin in this new life I have been given.
On the other side of the portal, I arrived at a stone hallway that was very simple and design. The only source of light was a simple lantern at the ceiling every seven to ten feet or so.
Right in front of me was a group of three lizards with webbed feet. They were about half of my height.
They seemed to stare at me which made me feel uneasy for some reason. It did not take long for me to find out why that was; when they stared at me for just a few seconds a beam of red energy rushed from their eyes towards me.
I jumped out of the way dodging each of their glances since I did not want to know what would happen if that beam ever made contact with my body.
"Attack them!" I exclaimed to my falcon companion briefly after I avoided their attacks.
My falcon swooped in and attacked them at their necks with ease. They were still alive after that set of attacks.
I pulled out my weapon and severed their heads with a clean strike in the same place where my falcon attacked our current enemies.
You have leveled up to level three. Your companion has risen to level two.
Then, since I knew we were alone, I checked my commission stats and noticed that they all went up by one point and that they also did not have any ability points to spend.
When I checked my stats I had six unspent stat points that I could distribute as I see fit. I also had two ability points that I could use to get some new skills.
"How should I spend these skill points? I do not know, but if I spend them I should do it wisely since the skills I obtain right now could make this dungeon easier or a whole lot harder to survive".
I've been sat down on the floor and started to look at the different skills that I could claim. I knew that most of my skills would be focused on my agility or dexterity as an assassin.
Perhaps I should choose to go the magical route and give myself the ability to use a specific affinity for magic.
When I opened the spells tab under the intelligence stat I noticed that there was some information for me to read before choosing what type of magic I wanted to specialize in. This information told me that it would be impossible to specialize in more than two types of magic unless I had an inherent ability or racial skill that allowed me to do otherwise.
The elements of this world were fire, water, earth, air, light, and shadow. Then I noticed that they had advanced elements like poison, rot, and a lot more.
As a member of the Moon elf race I already had access to shadow magic. It did not take me long to decide what I wanted to do.
"I want to gain access to poison magic". I said.
Poison is considered an advanced element that will consume both of your available skill points.
"I accept those terms". I said, and as soon as I spoke I could feel as though the knowledge of having to use a set of basic poison spells was engraved into my head.
Then after that, I chose to spend my six available stat points on my intelligence stat.
As I looked at my available skills the only two skills that I had were poison blade and poison ball.
I am going to use the poison these poison skills to clear this dungeon as quickly as I can.
It took me about six minutes to make it to the end of this very long hallway, and when I did, the next room was massively open, and I could see clearly the bright lights hanging from the ceiling.
This room had a huge hoard of lizard men that had dark red scales.
I did not have time to analyze why their skills were read instead of the stereotypical teal or green that I had grown accustomed to in video games and books on Earth.
Before I lunged at them, I activated my poison blade spell, which drained about a third of my available magic, but my weapon was coded in poison now for a short while.
I use this opportunity to rush at the lizard men as quickly as possible. I attacked them and noticed that they were all dying within two hits of my weapon.
My falcon also chose to attack while I was busy slaughtering a large number of the lizard men.
Whenever they were dead I noticed that the door in front of me seemed to open almost immediately with a gust of wind.
I entered into the layer of the boss just to find the body already shredded, and a tall male human with a pair of short swords that was wearing a set of black body armor.
"Hey, why did you steal my kill!" I exclaimed out of anger after noticing him.
"That is easy for me to explain. I am Jason the quest stealer. I make a living by stealing the quests and rare items from newer members of the adventurers guild".
Before I could even say anything, he vanished from My sight, which meant that he either had some form of teleportation magic or that he possibly had put in an absurd amount of his attribute points into agility.
In the end, I just wanted to go back and turn in the mission as completed. I grabbed the head of the lizard man chief as proof of the mission being completed.
I was able to make it back to the ship that brought me to the island barely in time, and I found A Rush of relief as it and the journey back to White Falls.
