The following days were tense. William kept Stella close, never allowing her out of his sight for long. He trained her in combat, but her progress was slow, frustrating him to no end. She could see the irritation in his eyes whenever she failed to keep up, and it only made her feel more inadequate, more lost.
One evening, as they sat together after another grueling training session, William finally broached a topic that had been hanging over them both.
"We need to talk about our next steps," he said, his voice serious. "Rose is becoming more of a threat. She's getting closer, and I won't let her take you from me."
Stella shivered at the intensity in his voice. "What do you want to do?"
William's eyes glinted with a cold determination. "We're going to eliminate her."
Stella's breath caught in her throat. "Eliminate her? But… she's human, isn't she? And a hunter. How can we possibly…?"
