The next morning, Stella woke up with a plan in mind. She knew it was risky, but the gnawing need for answers outweighed her fear. She turned to William, who was still asleep beside her, and gently shook his shoulder.
"William," she whispered.
He stirred and opened his eyes, his gaze softening when he saw her. "What is it, love?" he asked, his voice still thick with sleep.
"I…I want to go out into the city today," Stella said, trying to keep her voice steady. "I've been cooped up here for too long. Maybe if I get out, I'll start to remember things."
William's eyes narrowed, and he propped himself up on one elbow. "The city? Are you sure that's a good idea? It's dangerous out there, especially with Inspector Rose on the loose."
