Chereads / Thousand Pieces / Chapter 5 - Part 1-4

Chapter 5 - Part 1-4

Barkın was staring blankly at the sky. He had been expelled from the clan and had no reason to stay in the city anymore. The real problem was what to do next. Should he go to his mother as his father suggested? He wanted to see his mother again after such a long absence, but he was afraid of how his mother would react. He had almost no memories of his mother and knew nothing about her.

What if his mother had a new family? Wouldn't she just be an extra? Wouldn't she cause trouble? Wouldn't she ruin their happiness with her appearance? These were the thoughts that bothered him.

Another option that came to his mind was to live on his own. He could rent a studio apartment with the monthly allowance his father would send him. He thought he could even cover other expenses such as electricity, water, and gas with the remaining money, even though it was difficult. The real problem was that Barkın didn't want to spend anything and his main concern was whether his father would stop sending money one day. He knew that he had no choice but to obey his father's grandfather.

Barkın could guess that his grandfather would never give him a single penny, as he was labeled as "useless and illegitimate" within the clan. For now, his father was secretly sending him money from his own pocket without his grandfather's knowledge, but sooner or later his grandfather would find out.

In fact, he could find out the very next day. An elite clan's intelligence line should never be underestimated.

Barkın knew that his father was trying to delay this discovery. Barkın knew that the bank card his father had given him belonged to a bank that had no connection to the Crystal Clan.

His father had never been a good parent. He had never shown him the attention he deserved. As long as the clan existed or Barkın himself was not a [Soylu], his father would never take care of him. The only and first paternal affection he had received from his father in 16 years was the bank card he was holding in his hand now. The money sent to the account seemed like a drop in the ocean compared to his father's wealth.

Barkın did not have a close enough relationship with his father to be able to request an increase in the amount of money sent. In fact, he did not even expect his father to send him money.

If he decided to live on his own, he would have to work extra hours. He had to save money and make preparations in advance. He could not work a part-time job. He would have to drop out of school, but there was nothing he could do.

Although renting a studio apartment with a part-time job and the money his father sent seemed like a reasonable plan, Barkın did not want to continue with it. In fact, he did not want to spend a single penny from the bank card he had. Regardless of whether his father sent him money from his own pocket or he earned half of his money from the clan, he thought that there would be people who would be harsh on him for spending the clan's money.

As the sun was slowly setting, he realized that he had been sitting in the park for hours, lost in thought. He looked around. When he arrived, the children who were running and playing had long gone. Only a few people remained in the park, most of them couples.

He followed one of the couples with his eyes. He had witnessed the man trying to charm the girl with his [Soy Ruhu]. He saw that the man was trying to enchant the girl with the light in his hand. The type of the man's bloodline power was unclear, but…

"It's definitely a low-class bloodline power." Barkın commented about the man's sss.

[Soy Ruhu] was classified according to their strength or attributes. It was known that most people who were unable to awaken a bloodline power strong enough to enter any clan had a "Low-Class" bloodline power .

Those who were able to join a clan or were born into such clans usually had a "Middle-Class" bloodline power.

The elite clan members who were in positions or were part of the main family had either a [Soy Ruhu] that could be used for either attack or defense, or a "High Grade" bloodline power that was both powerful and functional.

The bloodline power of the man he had just seen was nothing special. It was clear that the man's [Soy Ruhu] only served as a beacon. Such dysfunctional and useless [Soy Ruhu] was considered "Low Grade".

The young doctor Ozan who was taking care of him at the hospital had tentacles that were a middle-grade bloodline power that he could use. Despite the appearance of the doctor Ozan's [Soy Ruhu], it was quite functional.

His grandfather, uncles, father, and cousins all had "Crystalized" bloodline power, a powerful and functional "High Grade" [Soy Ruhu] that could be used for both attack and defense.

Barkın continued to watch the man who was using his bloodline power to impress the girl. He didn't even know why he was watching that man. "Maybe I'm just jealous," he thought.

Barkın himself had failed to awaken his bloodline power and had passed the age limit, leaving him no chance of awakening the [Soy Ruhu] now. He would never become a [Soylu]. He would never gain superhuman powers, fame, wealth, or riches. He had no choice but to remain an ordinary, common man.

After Barkın lost sight of the couple he was watching on the bench, he still hadn't decided what to do next. As night fell, he considered leaving.

His mind was still on the man who used his bloodline power to impress the girl.

"I wish I could awaken even a low-class [Soy Ruhu]. Then maybe I wouldn't have been kicked out of the clan. I wouldn't have suffered so much as a child or been bullied."

Barkın couldn't help but think about that as he got up from the bench.

When Barkın got up from the bench he was sitting on thinking about these, he felt his head spinning and his hands and feet shaking. He fell to the ground because he could not stand on his feet. Barkın did not know the reason for this abnormal situation that occurred suddenly and in seconds. While he could not move on the ground, he felt that he heard a voice in his head. After this voice, Barkın's eyes started to close and he lost consciousness a few seconds later.

When Barkın opened his eyes again after an unknown period of time, he found himself in a familiar but also unfamiliar place.

He was alone again, in a wide area with no grass except for a thin soil with not a single grass on it. This was the place where he had been torn apart, swallowed and eaten dozens of times before. He was scared when he remembered those times.

"AGAİN!!"

"NO! THİS CAN'T BE!!!"

It was the same place. Monsters from unknown places had surrounded Barkın and were running towards him. When Barkın saw this place and the monsters once more, he remembered his previous experience. Especially the pain of being eaten alive, of being bitten... No matter how scared Barkın was, even though his feet were shaking, he tried to escape with hope. When he turned his head and looked at the monsters behind him, all his hope was gone. There was no opening for Barkın to escape. While the monsters were running towards him, all Barkın could do was run in a constantly narrowing circle.

Barkın could keep the monsters away for a while like this, but he could never escape death. The circle of monsters surrounding him was narrowing. Barkın knew this, and despite knowing it, he continued to run, remembering the pain he had experienced in the past.

While Barkın was running with all his might, the monsters continued to approach. As the circle he was running in narrowed, the distance between him and the monsters decreased to 5 meters. From this distance, the long-armed monsters were trying to catch Barkın. The armed monsters were throwing their weapons.

While Barkın was running from the monsters, he noticed that one of the thrown weapons hit his back. There was a deep cut mark on his back, the sound of bone breaking could be clearly heard.

"AAAAAA!!!"

Barkın fell to the ground, unable to bear the pain. Before he even had time to continue screaming, he was caught by a monster. What happened after he was caught was the same as what happened in the past.

Barkın was bitten alive by monsters, swallowed, torn apart, and died in pain again.

After Barkın literally died once again, he opened his eyes in the real world again shortly after. This time, he opened his eyes somewhere else, such as in the hospital, but in the park where he had lost consciousness.

The sun had not completely set. This meant that Barkın had not fallen into a long-term coma. However, his body still felt the pain of being eaten alive.

"AAAAAAAAAA!!!"

As soon as Barkın opened his eyes, he began to scream, cry, and roll on the ground. The park was empty except for the street lights, and no one could hear Barkın's painful screams.

The hours of pain gradually faded away. Barkın screamed until his voice was hoarse, his eyes were bloodshot, and his clothes were covered in dust.

He was in the dark, alone and helpless. When he looked up at the sky, he could only think of one question:

WHY!!!
