Chapter 21 - Journey to the Ancient Battlefield 6

Bringing his attention back to the ongoing battle before him, Leo found that even with the number advantage, the Warlocks were steadily losing ground, with one of them already dead.

This was to be expected. Two to three Disciple Warlocks of a Minor God were required to take on even a single Tier One Aberration.

'Well, it seems it's time to do a good deed.'

{SPIRITUAL OVERLORD TECHNIQUE: Fire-Bird: Extreme Flame Palm}

A few seconds later, Leo stood in front of three charred bodies, leaving the now nine Warlocks staring at him in shock and veneration.

Before they had the chance to thank him, Leo went straight to the point.

"Friends, could you please tell me the situation of the Ancient Battlefield? I would like to know for certain if I am on the right route."

Leo asked straightforwardly.

"Sir Official Warlock, could I be that you come from the Outerlands?"

One of the Warlocks asked doubtfully.

Leo nodded, guessing correctly that it was their way of addressing the areas outside the Ancient Battlefield.

Another Warlock took the initiative to explain.

"We are actually already in the Ancient Battlefield. However, we are not at where the main fighting takes place. In that direction..."

The Warlock pointed, continuing;

"Is the Frontline. That is the main line of defence from the Aberrations. We cannot go there because of our limited strength, being just Early Disciple Warlocks.

"We do know, however, that the number of Aberrations have been increasing over the past period, almost doubling."

Leo's brows creased slightly.

'Something big is happening.'

He had been feeling it for quite sometime, but it was not very clear.

While he was caught up in his thoughts, the Warlocks expressed their thanks.

They were extremely courteous, which made Leo slightly uncomfortable, so he excused himself.

While on his way, he surveyed the sparse vegetation while muttering.

"The Frontline should be my next stop."

He continued his journey with resolve, preparing himself for the carnage that he was soon to face.

...

"CELESTE, YOU B*STARD! I knew something was off about you!!" A middle aged man bellowed in rage, shockwaves of power raging around him.

He was a muscular man with shining blue eyes and hair. He also had a tattoo in the shape of a tsunami glowing brightly between his eyes.

However, he was currently injured, a long wound damaging his armor, as his eyes burned with rage.

"Don't blame me. Without power, everything is meaningless. And to gain more power, I could do anything!"

Celeste, or No.3 grinned eerily. As time went on, the purple hue in his eyes and hair had grew stronger, and his mannerisms had become increasingly stranger.

By now, he couldn't even be among the other Warlocks anymore.

His current opponent was a fellow Divine Warlock, but he was unfazed.

Divine Grade Spell (Man): Shredding Hurricane

Without further ado, the injured middle-aged man attacked.

Moisture coagulated from several kilometers around into a hundred meter radius hurricane, containing countless water blades.

Before it appeared, No.3 had leapt out of its range, but it followed him as if it had a mind of its own.

No.3's expression became serious, as he raised his hand. The power of Death filled the surroundings as he cast his spell.

Divine Grade Spell (Man): Embrace of Death

A sinister atmosphere descended, as one could almost see a gigantic ghostly figure appear, and make a hugging motion towards the incoming hurricane.

It instantly turned into a blackish gas and sifted into the hurricane.

The water in the hurricane began to turn black, and any part that was dyed black instantly turned to black mud and fell to the ground.

The black gas tried to go towards the middle aged man but was blocked by the the hurricane.

For a few moments, the two supernatural forces seemed to be at a stalemate, but the hurricane started to run out of water.

The absence of a sustainable water source nearby began to show itself as a problem.

A smile came to No.3's face.

"I deliberately ambushed you so far away from a water body to weaken your power. You're such a fool. Hahaha!!"

The middle aged man's face twisted in anger as he roared again.

This time, the amount of Divine Energy that he wielded was much stronger!

Divine Grade Spell (Earth): Elementary Domain of the Tides

A rain cloud almost a kilometer in size appeared in the skies within a few seconds.

Huge raindrops fell, entering the tsunami and tripling its size within another few seconds.

The raindrops fell on No.3 too, and although he blocked it with an energy shield, he could still feel his power weakening by up to 30%.

No.3's expression changed.

"You actually took that step!"

His voice was filled with disbelief.

Spells are divided into the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th and Divine Grade, with their power increasing in ascending order.

Much does not need to be said about the first four, as they have no subdivisions. However, Divine Grade Spells are different.

Divine Grade Spells are divided into Man, Earth and Heaven, and advancing upwards requires a long period of comprehension and accumulation.

Man Realm Spells were barely different from lower level spells, apart from the huge difference in power.

Earth Realm Spells dealt with an early form of a Domain, increasing one's strength while reducing the strength of enemies in a certain range.

Heaven Realm Spells were at the absolute peak, featuring an advanced form of Domains.

The middle aged man was previously capable of wielding only Man Realm Divine Grade Spells, so No.3 was shocked to find out that he had already reached the next level.

However No.3's expression quickly relaxed.

The benefits gained from that personage was not limited to merely a change in hair and eye colour.

The main reason he had joined that personage was because of power. And power, he got.

/DIAVOLOS SPELL: DESECRATION/

A purple mote of light appeared out of thin air.

Within a few seconds, a few more appeared, and the speed of them appearing increased astronomically, covering the radius of almost five hundred meters in another few seconds, forming a purple screen.

The purple screen remained unchanged for a few seconds, before dissipating quickly and uneventfully.

The rain stopped, and the clouds dispersed.

The middle aged man was nowhere to be seen, the only evidence of his existence, a rapidly dissipating pool of smelly water.

No.3 stood there, purple light flashing in his aghast eyes.

Scythe had just gotten control of another part of his soul.

'Why am I doing this?'

He roared in fear and anger.

"WHY!!!"
